Short Summary
For those who are confused about the apparent disunity b.n anime and manga timelines- i will try to offer a summary - so as to afford everyone an understanding of the sequence of events. This is what happens when you read the manga- lol. I am only revealing parts of this release that corresponds to the manga timeline. Dont ask or add any more revelations.

It is in white below so highlight to read.

This double commenced with part of another Sasuke Rescue arc -- which is a little bit further ahead in the manga after Naruto returns to Konoha after about 2.5 years and has undertaken a couple of missions. And then the opening theme started. Everything after the opening song-- is in line with events as sequenced in the manga after Naruto returns.
i.e-- you should look at the part where sasuke draws his sword as a special that reveals events that lie way ahead in the anime, maybe as far as at least 4-8 months from now (corresponding to manga timeline). And then almost everything else is as is in the manga

I stopped reading the manga since the confirmation date of Naruto Shippuuden was out, I totally freaked out everything was awesome and the fillers stuff for me as a manga reader if they are all as good as the konohamaru part its just extra fun me

Ok people listen up...

~Translating and subbing the opening and ending takes ALOT of time.
~This is a two parter, meaning twice as long to sub and edit out commercials.
~There's alot of bonus material in this release.
~The RAW came out pretty early, DB is probably not ready for it.
~DB has said that their staff isn't as available as they used to be. Meaning long wait times.
~Quit asking where the sub's at and just go to www.dattebayo.com and get banned for refreshing the page every five minutes.

u people really might as well watch the RAW, putting 2 and 2 together, as well as listening for key words like chunin, jounin, kage, sensei, and names should give you an understanding for what they're talking about...either that or hop off the cpu until midnight Eastern time! if u truly wanna wait, then leaving the computer and doing something constructive with your time is the best solution, the subs shouldnt be in until midnight AT LEAST

Think of it this way.. this episode is twice as long as any normal episode and add the fact that it's a new opening and ending song and that adds up to twice as long as it usually takes. Be patient. I know we're all excited ( Who the hell isn't? ) but please just wait! I want to see what the fuss is about regarding the beginning of the ep and the new opening/ending. Don't want to ruin it for myself by watching the raw which I totally would be lost in, even though I read the manga -.-

the reason they show sasuke so early i believe its kinda the hook that they plan to use to regain ppl's attention. everyone who stopped watching naruto due to fillers they all want to see what happened with sasuke, after all thats the main story, if you read the manga it took a while to show sasuke but in the anime its just a strategy to get people back . just my 2 cents tho

hmmm, I was rather disappointed actually.

I liked the way they made the characters look different (more grown up) in this new part of naruto, but the fact that it was all so....jumbly mumbly (jumping scenes too quickly and randomly) and that it wasn't exactly like in the manga (in fact, many things were different I thought, and they were just chosen better in the manga), made it quite disappointing.

But I'm actually looking forward to the next few episodes, as they will be better (but I do still think they kind of messed up the first episode)

Those of you who said this episode sucked and all.
It actually didn't if you really pay attention to the episode more.
Some of you are just looking at it and expect something amazing to happen. This is episode 1, give it some time and it will work its way up.

And by the way, the beginning of the episode (Before the opening) is a hint I am guessing. Movies back in the 90's used to do this kind of stuff before the movie starts. (Especially those chinese/korean/vietnamese movies, that show a climax in the beginning and then start the regular movie from the start after)

I guess its suppose to be something to let people know what they are expecting to see in the future. (No I haven't been reading the manga recently for like a year or more so I don't know whats going on myself)

Wicked ep. of course, nothing extreme happened, just wicked storybuilding.

Pros:
- No more filler!
- Naruto has grown up, but still has a lighter air to him, not deathly serious
- Get to hear all the characters acting like themselves, or their new selves, again
- it was cool to see konohamaru in action, he really is going to be the next naruto... minus cool tehcniques and a demon fox
- really well animated and put together. Higher quality episode then anything we have seen from the naruto franchise in the past 2 years.
- * very epic and high quality soundtrack for shuppiden, felt like a movie alot of the time, alongside the animation, this ep stood on par with naruto movie quality. Everything felt very... movie-ish. I hope they can keep this feeling, especially for important parts of the story.
- New book for kakashi. haha. Oh and when jaraiya and kakashi did their word, you could see a pretty reasonable outline of kakashi's face. I got a screen of it. ... ... waiting for upload ... ...

Cons:
- * epic soundtrack a little over the top at times? The akatsuki part was kickass but the "silly" or "light" music didn't feel that light to me. But that is more just an adjustment issue. Im interested to hear what they have for action sequences. Will they have adapted some of the older tracks? Will they have some new ones? There were some great sounds behind some of the fights, ie. the rock lee track. Classic. It would be a shame if they didn't recreate on the same scale.
- Not a huge fan of the keywords... hoping that gets phased out. Mostly because Im not japanese and miss the point. not a biggie.
- *naruto sasuke part at the beginning. Personally, Im in favor of it, I think its appropriate, but it seems that a few members aren't happy. If its controversial, it must be considered a pro and a con

General Thoughts:
- this was an awesome episode. No one can deny that. Except for maybe "action first" fans... but Im sure even they are hanging on the suspense that we were left with here.
- New soundtrack, new look. A series that was getting a bit tired(namely because of filler) gets a very welcome makeover. I think this, and starting a new series(shuppiden) was a great idea for the Naruto franchise. This way, all the tired, overdone feelings of filler etc etc get left behind. We have a brand new series to watch. This isnt just "naruto" anymore. "Naruto" makes you think of zabuza, gaara, chuunin exam, naruto vs sasuke finale, tsunade vs oro, etc... but of course... it also makes you think of filler. This new series will have it's own identity. Plus I was getting sick of Naruto in 12 year old form.
- What can I say, this is the beginning of the next few years of our nerdy, anime watching lives. Naruto is outof fillers at last. For those who care, Bleach is outof filler. *for those who care*, deathnote, one piece and others are going strong. Welcome to the golden age.

i have to say, i read the manga but i watch the episodes to get the emotions and depth that still art cannot give. and for the first two episodes, they have done a phenomenal job. even to the point of the art of the characters growth.

Definately a great way to start the new series. It's great having the feeling of suspense and impatience once again! And I personally don't mind seeing the Sasuke part. I can see why they did it since the fillers have pretty much f*cked Naruto over in terms of ratings, so what more could anyone want than to see Sasuke and what's to expect for the future?

I give this a 10/10 - Everything was just perfect for me, and the Akatsuki music was just fantastic. It gave me this weird feeling on my spine =p

being a non-manga reader, i think the sasuke flash forward was the best freakin thing they could have ever done. i personally think that was the coolest part of the eps, (when sasuke did that quick move and landed with his left hand on narutos shoulder and the other on his waist i almost pissed myself)

after years of waiting, seeing those few minutes of Naruto/Sakura/Sasuke action just ressurected the dormant ultra-naruto-love thats been bottled up inside me for the longest while.

well, throughout the remainder of the eps, i was mostly just squealing with delight, and seeing Sakura blushing furiously while thinking about Naruto just totally and completely made my freakin day.

contrary to ur predictions..the Manga readers (me being one of them) dont have a full explaination for that...we only have theory...all we know is what we interpret from that...this Mandara guy is somehow connected to Sasuke (prolly through blood...he's prob. a descendent of his or something..) and that b/c of that, Sasuke can "sense" the Kyuubi in Naruto and supress its powers (I think this part is theory) the manga doesnt really expand on this...sadly >.<
PS- Sorry if this is considered a spoiler, I dont think it..it doesnt reveal anything that is already seen in the ep...

IMO, this was a good episode...though I dont like the whole contest thing...waste time which could be used for more NARUTO xD...anyways, cant wait for the next ep.

well thats one reason why the ppl who read the manga find it so weird for them to show sasuke and that scene.Sasuke was in Naruto's mind and it looks like the kyuubi can pass through the gate now he's become stronger in naruto.the Kyuubi mentioned the Sharingan being a cursed bloodline and it being more eviler than his and he even mentioned another uchiha,uchiha madara so it all revoles around that and he mentioned Sasuke being able to get that far with his Sharingan.SO the Sharingan has another mystery to it

So far shippuden is pretty sweet. It was interesting to see the sasuke scene so early, but shooting (though in a cartoon's case: animating) scenes out of sequence is a pretty cool effect IMO. It basicly confuses people in the begining but as you get closer to the part shown in the begining, things start to fall into place. Hmm... let's see, they changed some of the stuff but... that stuff is pretty miniscule so I wouldn't even/don't even care. The new music is pretty sweet (it seems more like the music to an epic action movie rather than more tradtional japanese instrumented music.) Sasori and Dei's voices were good. Looking forward to next week's episode.

I thought it was a pretty good episode, great way to start Shippuden after more than a year of lackluster fillers. I thought the animation was pretty good (far better than in the fillers) and I kinda liked the new opening and endings. In my opinion, it was a pretty smart idea to show the whole Sasuke part early to grab the attention of people and likely get some people watching again, as the main storyline throughout Part II is damn good anyways.

I'm also pretty impressed as to the pacing, which was what I was kind of fearing at first. They pretty much made 2 episodes out of less than 2 manga chapter without really draging anything out. If they keep up a good job of pacing, hopefully they won't have to worry about reverting to fillers should they start catching up to the source material.

nah, seriously, I was more inspired by his calm attitude towards sasuke's move, it proved it was not so much for him, and such speed was easily matched. I really want to see what the training gave!!!! (mostly cause I don,t read the manga, damn me)

Also, the new OST's seem like they are mostly made by drums.
PERFECT instrument for this kind of time in the anime IMO.

Especially the part where they showed akatsuki walking on the sandy area and played that greek-like song, it fit so well for that scene.

i thought the whole episode's looked awesome, the whole thing had so much of a better feel than the fillers.

in the beginning with the saskue part it looked like saskue's speed did not surprise naruto at all. cant wait for the next episode some actual combat, lets see what there capeable of.

Yeah you gotta love naruto for how cool he's become. Before he was a legendary dude but now there's that confidence we have that he's become a real beast. Just what we all needed after all those godawful fillers i rarely watched. Ditto about the music. I liked it before. I LOVE it now.

Nice episode though, not bad, i am sticking to the manga but it was a nice start...but then again once you go through all those crappy fillers almost any improvement is noticeable...
