naruto anime is better than manga. story the same, special effects, music, sound, voices, music again, makes anime sooo cool.
I love manga too but it is worse than anime. but it is funnier sometimes than anime (example: when gai appears after lee's and sasuke's fight before chunnin exam. kakashi's team reaction was so awsome funny :) )
And i can go with manga to bathroom so..... :P

Id agree, im not one for manga, it takes away from the action and is a letdown for me, I think the anime is much better then the manga.

the future manga chapters have ALLOT more to offer then the previous ( in my opninion ) but i like manga better becouse it doenst drag as much as the anime....and it keeps you more in suspense
NarutoNineTails

Suspense aspect really doesn't change from the manga to anime since the story line is the same. I would say anime can better convey suspense because of the reasons mentioned already.

I like the anime up til about the beginning of the Tsunade Arc, now it just seems to drag. Maybe because the arc itself sort of drags...oh well. The current manga is great, I love reading it.
Manga, art doesn't flucuate between good and bad. but mostly, it comes out faster.

I agree that the manga has much better art. I actually got started on the manga and swtiched to anime, and i had to say at first i was really dissappointed with the way everyone was drawn, especially Sasuke. I got used to it, but if you look at the manga everyone looks much better.
But i prefer the anime. I like watching something better then reading it, especially if its exactly the same.
KeyserSozei
06-30-2004, 12:39 AM
he's totally right...
the manga is usually better in all
cases... but when it comes down to it..
the actuall anime is way better in intensity along with the addictiveness
Aurora Dark
06-30-2004, 12:43 AM
I like the anime, because it enhances the fighting scenes quite a bit. Seeing them in full color and animation, and hearing the music just makes it all more intense.
However... the manga tends to make certain things pass by faster.. which is something I enjoy, because I don't like "waiting" for something to happen. I'd rather read 5 pages to know what happens, than to watch 20 minutes of the anime to find out.
Also, I like the artwork of the manga.. some of the characters seem to have more personality than in the anime.
I can't say I prefer one over the other, just depends on what I'm looking for.. character things, the manga; action, the anime.
So I voted both :)
KeyserSozei
06-30-2004, 12:47 AM
that's true!!
i hate those scenes where it's sooooo slow
and your like saying in your head
"Hurry up and do it!"
but the manga is much quicker in these instances.
the anime irritates you with the suspense over and over parts..

I think both are different art expressions. An anime is more complex to develop, its music, voice acting, animation. It can't be compared. I would like the anime to be more like the manga drawings. Sometimes the animators just seem to be doing a poor job: bad drawings, cheap animation. For example, Orochimaru's battle with Sarutobi was donee with strange drawings and POOR animation, I am sure it could have been much much better. With a great anime like Naruto, that's a crime. Quality shouldn't be changing like that. Not with Naruto, which is so popular. That doesn't happen in Inuyasha, why It has to happen in Naruto? :? An anime is much more than a manga (much more artistic expressions in one), but things has to be done well, like are done on the Naruto manga.

Well, for me they both involve reading which really sux and the anime does have a lot of boring fillers, whereas the manga keeps going with the story and nonstop action is happening in each chapter, however I tend to lose interest coz its too much reading. So Im gonna say the anime, the sfx and special effects keep me interested.

somebody finally posted this thread- anime versus manga??
many are the fights i have seen
the safest route is to say they both have pros and cons- right? yes they do
just like almost everything in life-
on my part the addition of music, motion, real life elements to manga to make anime just draws to me anime.
similarly is my love for manga during the quiet times i peruse manga
as at now anime has an edge over manga for me even if it goes word for word scene for scene with the manga

dam if I could only post badash's voice clip abotu how he feels about manga XD. that would be soo awesome...
needless to say.
for me. I like both. and I expect differences in both.
anime gives me ...OST, clips, music videos, and just the fun of hearing what people are saying.
manga...something i'll read. even if its for teh 5th time. but to be honest. XD I get manga just to have it :P BWAHAHAHAH

Well, its kinda funny posting this in the Anime forum because theres gonna be a lot of bias here id think. Anyway though, I like them both except for a few things. The manga is better in that it leaves room for imagination. There are times in the anime where I thought something was gonna be really awesome from reading the manga, cept I was pretty damn disappointed. A few examples are the Zabuza vs Kakashi fight and the Naruto vs Neji fight. If you look at the mangas for those, everything looks waay more intense than the anime (Naruto looks way more fucked up when hes talking back to Neji in the manga and the Kyuubi stuff looks more impressive, not to mention Neji's cursed seal looks lame in the anime).
On the other hand tho, there are times when the anime does stuff perfectly and its much much better to be able to watch that in action than to try to imagine it. For example, the Itachi/Kisame vs Kurenai/Asuma/Kakashi fight and the Drunk Lee vs Kimimaro fight were much more enjoyable watching than reading.
In general tho, I think the manga artwork is better, so thats a huge plus for the manga...And there aren't any annoying fillers.

I just started reading the manga (just read gaiden) and agree and disagree with some of you.
I agree that overall manga artwork is better but some of the fighting sequences just aren't as exciting imo. Too many jumps in frames for the manga so you have to sort of guess what Kishimoto was trying to intend. A good example is Shikamaru vs. Tayuya. That was the time when Naruto got first licensed and I read ahead a bit and I was like huh (with the flash bomb)? Then I saw the anime and it made much more visual sense.
The biggest difference for me is the music though. The sound effects and background music is still top class imo.

That's why I always write a weekly fight synopsis in each manga chapter topic. The manga fights actually do make sense, if you take the time to read them through slowly, rather then just skimming.
Aurora Dark
10-13-2005, 11:34 PM
I do think some of them are way too jumpy though. There are a few "wth?" moments that occur from time to time, when someone does something awesome and amazing, and I can't tell what it is :P
I agree w/ that also, the WTF moments in the manga, but I really like the manga cause Ive always liked comics. But I started oppisite I started w/ the anime 1st and went to the manga, I have read way ahead of the anime and cant wait to c some of these fights animated, not to mention I like how the anime makes the fights better than what the manga can possibly do
If I had top chose 1 I would go w/ the anime, but I dont and I like them both equally, i like the fact that I can just read a manga chap at anytime and it doesnt take long at all but I love'em both

Perfect exm: In the manga Zabuza chopped off that guys head (cant remeber his name) but in the anime he cut him and he fell off the bridge!

Same thing for me too :)
The manga is what makes me excited to see the anime :P And I don't watch the fillers, so i just listen for when a certain arc is starting, and those are the eps. of the anime I watch.
I use the manga as a vague guideline, so I know when to get the eps, and which ones I'd rather skip.
(I do this because I have no room for episodes, so I'd only have to delete them after viewing, so it gets tedious :P)

Yea, you get a few "WTH?" moments in the manga. A recent one that comes to mind is a fight where somebody catches a kunai in his teeth. It was really hard to tell what had happened, and looked like he'd just had a knife appear in his mouth.

I think Venin is trying to imply the surprise factor in the plot line. If you know what is going to happen in advance (due to spoilers for an example) it just isn't as interesting. That is why I tried so hard not to read the manga. It is better to see an event in animation the first time around than reading the manga imo.

I like the manga more anyway, so I don't really care whether or not the anime surprises me XD
I have read the manga and been completely awe struck when I seen it in the anime for exsample garra vs kimi, neji vs kido, but espesially naruto vs sauske, I guess that I just dont considered watching it after I know whats going on after I read it to spoil the experience of seeing it animated! to each yours own, I guess!

I guess the real question should be, IF the same manga chapter is animated and released at same time which would you see? If Naruto was a finished series and had full versions of both the manga and anime downloaded, which would you see? I would have no doubts that I would choose the anime.
That is the reason why I refused to read the manga and why I HATE spoilers in this section of the forum. That is of course until I could not stand any more of these recent fillers. So bad...it brings down the overall impression of Naruto anime in general.

I have watched the anime up to 175 and now i just cant take any more FILLER. So despite my original plan of watching the anime then reading the manga i have now read ahead to the actual storyline and its now a releif to know its actually going to get back to being interesting, i understand it needs a gap but it was in danger of losing me and my friends as avid watchers.
There are good and bad points to both formats. The Anime is too drawn out (with flashbacks to things that happend earlier in the same episode) but with brilliantly animated fights and the manga gives the story faster but confusing fights. So i like both in different ways. Sorry to take so long

Okay, here's my two cents.
Positive Manga Attributes
Higher quality images of characters.
You can view at your own pace
Requires more imagination
Cool extras, interviews, etc;
Positive Anime Attributes
Voice Acting
Musical Soundtrack
Less work required to view(Yes, I know flipping a page and reading text is SO troublesome.)
More action
Negative Manga Attributes
Cliffhangers(I personally hate them.)
Sometimes hard to understand what's going on.
No musical soundtrack or vocals.
Negative Anime Attributes
Fillers
Sometimes a change in plot(subtle, yet there.)
Less quality images
Sometimes poorly animated fight sequences
----------------
I personally like both, I'm biased I guess because I prefer watching anime fights, but I read manga for storyline and cool extras.
As far as the the neg effects of mange goes I understand completely, during the action sequence its hard to understand whats going on!!

I prefer the manga myself. Nice small file size, easy to open and close, small dl time and the story line is much farther then the anime. Plus I can just boot up a pic into paint or photoshop and work on my coloring skills (I suck so dont ask to see one). One thing that I do like about the anime, are some of the fight scene's. Like the fight between Sasuke and Orochimaru was far better in the Anime then in the Manga for me. However I hate the huge file size 700mb+, get a hundred of those and my comp is maxed. I like how I can hold the entire Naruto series and still have room for other things.
