Ninja Law: A Shinobi Manual

Greetings to the SOS.

Here is the new rules for the SOS. There are few changes form the old rules, but the previous set of rules lacked alot of critical information, which is why the new set of rules is beign set in place. The rules will be divided into sections, each section having its own post. The index will have links to each individual post, incase someone needs to make referance to a single section.

Currently, this is under construction. There will still be many chapters to implement in these rules, but for now, i will post all the critical pieces of information. All agknowledgements will be made after the rules have been finalised. Also, most of these rules are based upon the original SOS rules that were written by T Nova.

•Light swearing will be tolerated, but heavy overuse of swearing is also not allowed.

•Have respect for fellow members. Flaming will not be tolerated. Screaming and swearing at each other will only get you hated and banned.

•The use of Violence is allowed, but only to a degree. Overuse of explicit gore is not permitted.

•When debating, provide evidence to support your arguments and or point of view. If you provide no evidence, or your evidence is deemed to be unfounded or inconclusive and you still continue to insist upon your argument or point of view to no end, then it will be interpreted as Trolling. Trolling is a highly bannable offence on this forum.

•The SOS Council deserves your respect. They have worked hard to earn their positions and are the Keepers of this RP. Your desire to join this RP also constitutes your agreement to abide by their rules, regulations, and instructions here.

General RP rules:

- Use proper grammar and spelling. No use of words like “becoz”, “sux’ and any other “sms language”. Use proper spelling and try to keep emoticons and smileys to a minimum, unless in OOC posts. No replacing the words with letters or numbers (eg, changing “to” to “2”)
- When you want to write something that is not part of your RP’ing, you can write “OOC” and then write your message. OOC stands for Out Of Character. For example: “OOC, nice post Ash… I’m just gonna eat and then I’ll reply!”
- Clearly indicate when you are using direct speech and when you are narrating.
- No use of first person RP’ing. RP in the third person.
- You are allowed to make a second character when your current character has reached jounin level.

Character Creation:

When creating a character, you will have to post it in the Character Statistics page. If you are unsure about how to create your character, feel free to ask any of the members to help. Once you have created a character, it would be best to PM it to one of the SOS mods, so they can approve it. If you have gotten an SOS mod to approve it, clearly indicate at the bottom of your page which mod has approved it.
However, if your character has a Bloodline Limit, then you MUST PM your idea to an SOS mod, before posting.
Your Character Statistics post MUST contain the following information:

- Name
- Gender
- Age
- Element
- Origin
- History
- Bloodline (if any)
- Money
- Rank
- Inventory

When you create a character, you will start as a genin with 500$ and three jutsus
You will start with:
- Bunshin no jutsu (Replication Technique)
- Henge no jutsu (Transformation Technique)
- Kawarimi no jutsu (Replacement Technique)
In case you have a Bloodline Limit that gives you more techniques, you start with those, as well as your three starting jutsus. See the Bloodline Limit section for more detail on jutsu’s accompanied by Bloodline Limits.

When you have created a character, you are allowed to have one heirloom (which can be a weapon, or anything you can imagine). Clothes do not need to be put into your inventory unless they are containers like kunai holsters or backpacks. PM it to an SOS mod if you are unsure.

If you are new to RP’ing, or if you wish to brush up your skills, you must go through training by one of the seasoned RP’ers, who will teach you the basics of RP’ing.

Character Creation Addendum 1.

What is an advanced Bloodine limit (or Keikei genkai)?

“Advanced Bloodline limit” is a term used in relation to characters that possess a genetically hereditary factor which allows them to manipulate chakra in ways that break the limits of what a normal human shinobi can accomplish. Fans of the Naruto manga and anime were first introduced to the concept of advanced bloodline limits with the character Haku, a young boy with the ability to use his chakra to create ice. And just when fans thought they knew everything there was to know about bloodline limits the creator of Naruto introduced yet another spin to this concept – the Sharingan! If ice was one end of the bloodline spectrum, then the Sharingan would certainly be the other. Sharingan was an example of physical genetic trait (or alteration if you will) in a character that also allowed them to manipulate chakra to an extent that normal shinobi could only dream of.

From the beginning many people speculated about Haku’s ice making ability and the fact that he could also perform water based jutsu as well. And it wasn’t until about 300 manga chapters later that it was confirmed that Haku’s ice (or Hoyoton) ability was the result of combining water natured chakra with wind natured chakra. Now, does this mean that any shinobi that carries an affinity for both wind and water can sporadically create ice at a whim? Almost absolutely not! This is where the advanced bloodline limit comes into play. It’s the genetically hereditary ability in the Hoyoton user’s body that allows him to properly combine both chakra natures and manipulate them into the new elemental fusion of ice.

And what about the Sharingan, that other kind of bloodline limit? This physical or biological anomaly which is also classified as an advanced bloodline limit allows its user to naturally access abilities without the complexity of having to mold and release chakra. However, chakra is still required to activate it in most all cases. The power of the sharingan exists in just the eye sensory organ but that doesn’t necessarily mean all types of physical and biological bloodline limits are classified this way. A good example of this is Kaguya Kimimaro’s bloodline limit ability which allowed his body to manipulate chakra in a way that granted him total control over his skeletal structure on a cellular level.

So remember, when it comes to achieving an ability that can never be attained through training by a normal shinobi, then this will most likely be classified as an advanced bloodline limit. But if you have dreams of conjuring up the wildest of bloodline abilities out there then you must also be willing to work for it by first asking yourself the following:

•What exactly does this bloodline limit allow the character to do?

•Is this ability the result of elemental fusion or a physical/biological alteration in the character’s body?

•Is there some sort of back-story you could write that would better explain how this bloodline came into being?

•What makes this ability a ‘bloodline limit’ and not just some advanced technique some genius ninja(s) could master over the span of one or two lifetimes?

•Is this bloodline limit too powerful when pitted against a normal shinobi?

What are Hidden Abilities?

It’s very important NOT to confuse Hidden abilities with advanced bloodline limits. For the most part, ‘Hidden abilities’ (or sometimes referred to as ‘Clan abilities’) are jutsu that were developed by normal shinobi over several generations of practice and refining. Like bloodline limits, these abilities also appear to break the limits of what a normal shinobi can achieve mainly due to all the time that was put into developing them. But make no mistake, these abilities are totally achievable by anyone with the intelligence, patience, discipline, and most importantly – the KNOWLEDGE of how to train it.

Hence, this is why it is referred to as a ‘Hidden ability’. The secrets for learning and adapting these abilities are closely protected by the small few who know them.

In the days before the formation of the great Shinobi nations, the age of the ninja was dark and chaotic. Many powerful clans with natural bloodline abilities moved through the terrain like forces of nature nearly obliterating anything and everyone in their path. Swelling with pride, the natural bloodline clans and their members looked down upon outsiders who did not share their own bloodline heritage as inferior beings. And because of this, the smaller (non bloodline limit) groups of likeminded ninja that shared common interests in self preservation were forced to band together in the hopes that their numbers could stand up to the larger bloodline limit clans.

Among the non bloodline limit shinobi a large clan was a symbol of power. The jutsu of the larger (non bloodline) clans were believed to be quite formidable and much sought after by the smaller, weaker clans. Smaller groups would often pledge their allegiances to the larger, more powerful groups in exchange for learning the secrets of the jutsu that had kept them large and powerful up until this point. And through alliances such as these, new clans were born out of the spirit of survival. And for the newer clan members that had recently joined, learning the secrets of these new "Hidden abilities" ensured a higher survival rate for the rest of their smaller group as well as their children, who they would eventually pass these abilities onto.

And if a ninja possessing these secrets happened to be killed while away from his clan it was the responsibility of the highly skilled ‘Hunter Ninjas’ to track down and recover, or, destroy the body of the fallen shinobi before an opposing clan could examine the corpse and its chakra network to find exploitable vulnerabilities to the jutsu that meant the difference between life and death for the entire clan.

Of course, this fashion of recovering the dead wasn’t just a practice of the non bloodline clans alone. It had become doubly necessary even among the natural bloodline limit clans, who vice versa, needed to protect the secrets of their own abilities from the devices of outsiders as well.

Extremely difficult to master, hidden abilities are usually clan based, being passed down from parents to their children. And it’s not uncommon so see it evolve as it changes hands from one generation to another either. Subtle differences between Hidden abilities and advanced bloodline limits include:

•In situations where a character that possesses an advanced bloodline limit doesn’t have to try so hard to perform their ability, it may on the other hand take a character with a hidden ability more focus and perhaps even a series of hand seals to properly execute their ability. A character with a hidden ability may have more experience over issues like the workings of chakra and its nature due to the intense training involved with learning their hidden ability. Therefore, a character with a hidden ability is more likely to adapt to certain situations and perhaps even adapt their jutsu for multiple circumstances, while the character that possesses the advanced bloodline limit cannot go beyond the boundaries that have been genetically set for them. The exception to this of course would be those rare individual that often get referred to as a “genius”.

•Also, a character who uses a hidden ability may use up large amounts of chakra resources when performing their jutsu due to the ability’s nature and circumstances involved. Whereas on the other hand, the character possessing the advanced bloodline limit’s body was genetically designed to handle the power and exertion of their ability and may also not cost them as much chakra to perform.

•And again, while a hidden ability user cannot usually create an elemental fusion like an advanced bloodline limit user can, the hidden ability user may still develop regular (or even elemental) jutsu to very advanced stages that would be extremely difficult to master in a single generation. This can be accomplished by any number of means like for example: adding chakra shape or nature manipulation (or both) or other kinds of chakra decomposition/recomposition methods to the jutsu.∟ A good example of this would be how the 4th hokage, who was a genius, created the Rasengan but wasn’t able to completely perfect it. And after being passed down to the next generation even more progress was made by adding nature manipulation.
There are many examples of hidden abilities throughout the Naruto manga – just think “Ino-Shika-Cho” and you’ll be on the right track. So remember, the strong suit of the hidden ability is its potential to be adapted or for it to evolve into custom jutsu while its drawbacks include large chakra consumption and required focus.

Important questions to answer when creating hidden abilities are:

•How exactly does this hidden ability manipulate chakra and what exactly does it do?

•How many generations was this Hidden ability passed down and how did it evolve (if applicable) with each generation?

•Do you plan to further perfect this ability to a new stage? (If so, then how?)

•Is this hidden ability too powerful when pitted against a normal shinobi?

What are Special abilities?

At first glance a Special ability can resemble the traits of both an advanced bloodline limit and a hidden ability. This is because when it comes to special abilities there are very few constraints on what the definitive characteristics can be. To get a good idea of what this means I want you to try to imagine a number line with a range of numbers from 1 to 10. Now if we label number 1 an advanced bloodline limit and we label number 10 a hidden ability, then all the numbers in between would be a special ability. And I don’t just mean the numbers 2 through 9 either, I mean from 1.1 through 9.9. Yes, that’s how close these abilities can come to the other two before mentioned ability classifications.

A special ability can resemble an advanced bloodline limit in the sense of having some kind of physical alteration in the character’s body or a special condition the character was born with (which wasn’t necessarily passed down through genetics either). And at the same time it can resemble a hidden ability in the sense that it could be some sort of custom jutsu (usually supplemental) developed by a character classified as a “genius” experimenting with the nature and behavior of chakra. Or even a character that was exposed to unusual or special circumstances. Or any combination of the instances listed here (like a genius character that alters the physical nature of his body for some desired effect or another).

These abilities are so UNIQUE that the character who develops them is usually the only person capable of performing them since they were custom fitted just for that character.

Unless born with the special ability, (which would be considered more of a chakra related mutation rather than a genetic heritage) a character who aspires to create a special ability often takes the path of the Sennin (or hermit), bored or unsatisfied with conventional chakra usage, they insatiably search for a way to achieve their desired abilities, often at no matter the cost.

Since the sky is pretty much the limit when it comes to a special ability, telling you how to create one may somehow restrict creativity. Instead, here are a few ways to make sure you’re on the right track:

•The special ability cannot be a hereditary trait passed down through genetics, however it can be a physical/biological alteration that only this character was born with, or something they directly or indirectly did to themselves to change the way(s) they manipulate chakra.

•The special ability cannot fall under the definition of a hidden ability in the sense that a small group of characters somewhere else are protecting the secrets of this ability. It must be UNIQUE only to the character that develops it. However, the special ability CAN be a former hidden ability that the character perfected in some unique way and only they can (or have the knowledge required to) use it.

•The special ability cannot be the combining of two or more elements to create an elemental fusion of some kind. However, the special ability CAN be the unique manipulation of a single elemental chakra (or other special kind of chakra) in a way that no one else has thought of executing before.

•A special ability CAN evolve into custom jutsu. However the evolution of this ability cannot transcend the boundaries of DNA and be passed unto a future generation through genetic heritage.

Overview

In conclusion, it should be noted that chakra can be manipulated to achieve almost any effect imaginable. But if you have an amazing ability in mind but you cannot explain how this ability is suppose to work in a ‘narutoverse’ sense, then how can you hope to ROLE PLAY this ability in a GAME based environment? It just wouldn’t be fair to the other player so here are some additional but important questions to answer when trying to get your ability approved:

•How is chakra manipulated to achieve this ability’s effect?

•A short history of how the ability was passed through the generations. (if applicable)

•How much of the character’s chakra is being manipulated each time this ability is used?

•Is the ability related or similar by comparison to anything shown in the Naruto manga?

•What are the Characteristics of this ability?∟ Does it evolve through stages, phases, etc?

∟ Does it depend on anything else besides chakra?

∟ Does it have to be activated or is it always in effect?•What are the strengths and drawbacks of this ability? Are they balanced enough where they won’t be too powerful when pitted against a normal shinobi?

Shinobi Ranks
The ranks in SOS work as follows:

Genin
-High Level genin

Chuunin
-High Level chuunin

Jounin

Elite Jounin

SoS has eliminated the Special Jounin rank, because we feel that High Level chuunin is good enough. Because of this, we have created an Elite Jounin rank for shinobi that show extraordinary capabilities as a normal Jounin.

Genin:
Genins are fresh-out-of-the-academy students, who have little to no experience as a shinobi. The following rules apply to genin:
- Genin may only do D and C rank missions. They are allowed to do B rank missions, but ONLY if they are High Level Genin and are accompanied by one or more chuunin .
- Genin can only have D and C rank jutsus.
- Genin are not allowed to join ANBU
- Genin are allowed to have 10 jutsus, of which 3 are the starting jutsus
- D Ranked Missions
- C Ranked Missions
- B Ranked Missions = (Only under special permission)
- A Ranked Missions = (Under special permission)
- S Ranked Missions = ( Under special permission)
Once genin have completed 5 or more C rank missions, they are classified as High Level Genin. High Level Genin are allowed to learn one B-rank jutsu.

Chuunin:
Chuunin are the middle rank of the shinobi. Upon becoming chuunin, the shinobi will either have to buy a chuunin vest, or they may receive it when being promoted. The following rules apply for chuunin :
- Chuunin may only do D, C and B rank missions. They are allowed to do A rank missions, but ONLY if they are High Level Chuunin are accompanied by one or more jounin.
- Chuunin can only have D,C and B rank jutsus.
- High Level Chuunin may join ANBU.
- Chuunin are allowed to have 20 jutsus, of which 3 are the starting jutsus

- D Ranked Missions
- C Ranked Missions
- B Ranked Missions
- A Ranked Missions (With a Jounin)
- S Ranked Missions (With special permission)

Once chuunin have completed 5 or more B rank missions, they are classified as High Level Chuunin. High Level Chuunin are allowed to learn one A-rank jutsu.

Jounin:
Jounin are the top rank shinobi in the village and are a force to be reckoned with! The following rules apply for jounin:

- Jounin can only have D,C,B and A rank jutsu.
- Jounin may join ANBU
- Jounin are allowed 25 jutsus, of which 3 are the starting jutsus
- Once your character becomes a jounin, you may discover your second element, if you have any.
- At jounin level, your character may develop one unique jutsu. This jutsu must be approved and can be any rank, up to A-rank.
- If a jounin has done 5 or more A rank missions, he/she is allowed to learn one S-rank jutsu.
-D Ranked Missions
-C Ranked Missions
-B Ranked Missions
-A Ranked Missions
-S Ranked Missions

Jounin may also have three genin, who they can take care of and do missions with. To apply for this position, PM an SOS mod.

-S Ranked Missions

Ranking up:
Ranking up happens in several different ways:
- Promoted after excellent performance in an event.
- Promoted after chuunin/jounin exams
- Promoted by an SOS mod for certain reasons

Azure Wrath
02-08-2007, 05:26 AM
ANBU:

ANBU is the elite, “Special Forces” of the narutoverse. ANBU applicants must either be jounin, or high-level chuunins. Not all applicants for ANBU will be accepted, for they will be tested rigorously to see if they are worthy. ANBU members receive the following perks:
- ANBU members can hold 5 more than their own ranks allowed jutsu limit.
- ANBU members will be allowed to do ANBU missions (somehow this makes sense), which will receive higher pay than regular missions, but are also harder.
- Members will receive their ANBU clothing upon successfully entering.
- ANBU members must wear the ANBU mask and cloak whenever taking part in ANBU missions

Azure Wrath
02-08-2007, 05:26 AM
Missions:

Missions will be the primary source of income for the shinobi and will also be a great source of experience. Here’s a rough indication on how a typically ranked mission will look:

D rank: No form of fatal danger, usually just chores or safe escorts. There will be no death in a D rank mission.

C rank: Some form of conflict, if so, then usually with no other shinobi. Non-shinobi enemies only. Slightly dangerous missions.

B rank: Conflict is a possibility. Contact with enemy shinobi is allowed. Enemies can be anything from multiple genin to one a few chuunin. Dangerous missions.

A rank: Conflict is almost a guarantee. Enemies can be from vast amounts of genin and chuunin, to a few jounin. Very dangerous missions.

S rank: Conflict is the bread and butter of these missions. There is no limit on how many enemies will be present. Will involve S-rank criminals, large fights, daring assassinations and near-impossible infiltrations. Extremely dangerous missions.

The average pay of missions:
D: 50 –125$ (per shinobi)
C: 100 – 200$ (per shinobi)
B: 200 – 400$ (per shinobi)
A: 400 – 600$ (per shinobi)
S: 600 – 1000$ (per shinobi)

To start a mission, you must either make up an idea for a mission and post it in the Hokage’s Office and wait for an SOS mod to approve it, OR an SOS mod can give you a pre-made mission to do. Upon completion, inform the SOS mods, so they can approve the completion of the mission. In case of escalations in missions, the SOS mods will decide whether it deserves to be ranked up or not and, if so, they will decide the extra pay, if any.

Training:

Training is crucial for a shinobi. Upon being graduated, each shinobi must create his/her own training thread. In there, you will train to make your character stronger. If you wish to learn a new jutsu, you must train it in your training thread as well. If you have trained a jutsu, you must inform an SOS mod to approve your jutsu training before you may use it in missions or combat. Clearly mark when you start and end a day of training and also mark what it is that you are training. There are a couple of rules for training:

- A minimum of approximately 500 words (one page in word) per RP day (note that there is no maximum per day…. The more you post, the better the training.)
- You are allowed to post a maximum of 2 RP days training in one real day if you are a genin and 3 RP days of training per real day if you are higher then a genin.
- It is compulsory to keep an index of your training, in order for judges to easily see what you have and have not trained. If you are unaware of how to create an index, please consult someone with who knows how to.
- In order to use weapons, you must train the use of the weapon before being able to use it. You must state in either your character statistics post or your training index which weapons you can use. Training of the use of kunai is the only weapon that is not needed.

Light weapons - 1 post to be familiar with the weapon.
Medium weapons - 2 posts to be familiar with the weapon.
Heavy weapons - 4 posts to be familiar with the weapon.
Elemental weapons - 4 posts to be familiar with the weapon, 2 posts to be familiar with the element

To become good at a weapon requires more posts then this.

Training Addendum 1.

Who We Train

All players are only to train characters officially approved by the SOS council. You are not prohibited from training NPC characters or having them participate in your approved Character’s training, However it should be noted that there will be ZERO reward or earned upgrades for NPC characters. It is also important to note however that your officially approved character is also your MAIN controlled character here at SOS.

What and Why We Train

The purpose of training your character is to justify your character’s use of techniques (in PVP Battles, Missions, and other such RP Events) which may include, but are not limited to:

•Ninjutsu

•Taijutsu

•Genjutsu

•Kenjutsu

•Hidden abilities

•Special abilities

•Advanced Bloodline Limit related abilities

•Weapon or Projectile accuracy

•Chakra Control

•Special or Hidden Talents

•Feats of unusual Strength, Speed, or Agility

•Advanced or heightened senses of Eyesight, Hearing, Smell, Touch, or Taste

•Combination maneuvers with teammate(s) or a Ninpet

•Specified Technical Knowledge unknown to the common shinobi

Any use of techniques in a manner beneficial to your character without having them trained first will be subject to review. And if found to be malign in nature could result in unfavorable judging and, or rulings.

Where We Train

You are not limited to any specified fictional area when training your character. However, as far physical training areas are concerned, the core of your training must occur in your training thread. It has for some time and will continue to be allowed for multiple players to create combination training threads for team training. In events such as this however, we do ask that you link this training to the index section of your original training thread for user friendly navigation by SOS officials.

When We Train

As you can imagine, there is no restriction on the fictional aspect of the time your character can train, we prefer to leave things of this nature to the creativity of the player. However, there are physical CONSTRAINTS on ‘when’ you may post training in your character’s training thread. This may include, but are not limited to:

•When your character is in the middle of an uncompleted mission.

•When your character is taking part in an uncompleted PVP match.

•When you character is in the middle of similarly related SOS events such as the two listed above.

•When you have been placed on probation from the SOS.

There are times that you may have to wait for a MISSION or PVP MATCH to be judged by an SOS official which may also restrict you from posting in your training thread. In this event you may contact an SOS moderator to lock the COMPLETED event. Once the event has been locked you may continue to post in your training thread(s).

How We Train

Training a technique should not come easy. Currently, there is a preferred standard of trial and error when it comes to training a technique in SOS. It should be noted however that this is not a mandatory platform. We highly encourage you to liberally use any preferred style or mechanism when training your character. We also strongly believe in rewarding Originality and Creativity.

Important things to AVOID include, but are not limited to:

•Learning Techniques too quickly, or at a rate that seems unreasonable to the judges.

•Training posts that don’t meet the proper length and detail orientation for the subject matter being insisted upon or claimed.

•Plagiarism: Posting training that was not written by you, or, posting someone else's training without their written consent.

•Learning Techniques without first learning the basic knowledge needed to train said techniques.

•Overly exaggerating a technique’s known range and capability.

•Training techniques that have not been approved by the proper SOS officials.

•Training abilities not allowed for your specified Ninja Class, Rank, or Other such Affinities.

•Breaking or even Bending the existing Laws and Quintessential Nature of the Naruto Manga.

Character Maintenance:

After creating your character, you will have a post in the character statistics page. You are expected to update this post as you continue with your RP’ing. A few crucial statistics you need to update are:

- Events taken part in
- Missions completed
- Mission points
- Financial records
- Fights won
- Fights lost
- Fights tied
- Anything else that you see fit
- Weapons familiar with

Try to make your character statistics post as detailed as possible. Always update your money balance as soon as you purchase items or gain money. Update your jutsu section when you learn new techniques. Basically, keep it as up-to-date as possible. If there are any advances in your characters story/personality, add a summary of it in your statistics.

Godmodding:

Godmodding is when you take control of another RP’er’s character and make them do something that the RP’er would disapprove. For example:

~~~
*Bob walks up to Joe*
Bob: "Hi Joe!"
Joe: "Hi Bob! How are you today?"
~~~

This is fine, because you did not something drastic that deviates from Joe’s idea of HIS character. But, if Bob writes this…

~~~
* Bob walks up to Joe*
Bob: "Hi Joe!"
Joe: "GO AWAY!!! I HATE YOU!!! YOU GONNA DIE!!! I HATE MYSELF!!!!"
*Joe pulls out a kunai and stabs himself in his left testicle*
~~~

This… is horribly wrong! Here, you took full control of Joe’s character and did something that he would NEVER do.
Godmodding also counts with battles. Very seldom in battles, you may godmod your opponents, but usually, it is a big no-no. No godmodding in battles means that you launch hits to your opponent, but you may NOT state whether they hit! You may say they miss... but you can NEVER say that they strike, unless you are allowed to RP with godmodding. Even if you are allowed, you must not go overboard. You are also not allowed to KILL!! NEVER!!! ONLY if you have the Mods permission OR the other characters permission. Here's an example of non-godmodded fighting (Bob being the one posting):

~~~
*Bob draws a kunai in his left hand and charges at the unsuspecting Joe! As he runs forwards, he spins and launches himself in midair and while he is spinning, he throws his kunai at Joe!! The kunai is flying at a ridiculous speed straight at Joe 's throat!*
~~
This is perfectly acceptable. Joe must now choose whether it hits or not. Bear in mind though, that you MUST take hits! If you do not take hits, don't expect your opponent to take hits, its a game of give and take, and if you are fighting a jounin and you are a genin, then expect to take MUCH more hits then you give. Here's an example of NOT to fight!
~~
*Bob draws a kunai in his left hand and charges at the unsuspecting Joe! As he runs forwards, he spins and launches himself in midair and while he is spinning, he throws his kunai at Joe!! The kunai is flying at a ridiculous speed straight at Joe 's throat! The kunai hits him straight in her throat, digging deep into his soft flesh... soon, blood is pouring out of the new air-hole in his throat!*
This is WRONG!! Do that and you will be SEVERELY punished!
Rendans:
Your character can create official rendans (Combo’s). You can either discover them during battle or discover them in training. These usually comprise of a set of moves you would like to use again, ie, a series of slashes and kicks in a certain set (like the “Shi Shi rendan” sasuke uses). You can name your Rendans and you are limited to how many official rendans you are allowed.
Genin – 1 rendan
Chuunin – 2 rendans
Jounin – 4 rendans
Elite Jounin – 5 rendans
Despite having official rendans, you are still more then welcome to make other unofficial rendans, of which there is no limit. These unofficial ones don’t have names and are usually thought up on spot and rarely used again (ie, doing a combo, utilizing the current environment and circumstances.)
Team rendans can also be created and do not count under the individuals rendan limit.
Genin Team – 1 rendan
Chuunin Team – 2 rendans
Jounin Team – 4 rendans
Elite Jounin Team – 5 rendans
Combat Rules:
The use of hidden bunshins:
Any clone type that has been summoned up quietly will have to be explained in either"spoiler tags" or the sending out of a PM (private message) to two or more chuunin or higher SOS players, during or at the end of the post. Judges will pay close attention to the posts thereafter and look for any signs of the opponent having read the hidden information, if the user chose to use spoiler tags. With this , a clone that has been made silently or the declaration of the true user amongst numerous bunshins will be placed in either a "spoiler tag" or a PM, and therefor deemed completely fair. If you do not know how to create spoiler tags, click here (http://forum.narutochaos.com/showthread.php?t=10490).
Inventory:
Upon starting a battle/mission/event, the user MUST state what items/equipment he or she has taken along on this occasion, as well as exact quantities. This does not need to be done formally, thus it can be incorporated into one's RP'ing.
Post Editing:
From this moment forth, editing of battle posts may NOT be done, unless you notify 2 judges and your opponent of the edits you make. You may only edit your most recent post in the fight you are in. You must also get consent from your opponent to edit your post. Not doing so will forfeit your match. When notifying the judges and your opponent, this is the procedure you must take:
- Notify the judges and your opponent which post you will change (do not change it yet)
- Notify them what you will change in the post
- Get their consent to do so
- Make the changes
- Notify the judges and your opponent that you have made the changes.
If all of this is done and the judges and your opponent approves, then you may continue the fight.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a serious criminal offence, in which one person steals another person’s work, without giving credit where credit is due.
In real life, plagiarism leads to huge consequences, usually court cases and expulsion from businesses and/or universities, schools and colleges.
Here, at the SOS, plagiarism will also not be tolerated. If you use ANY of another persons work, you must:
- Gain permission from this person to use it
- Clearly give credit to the person in the same post
Failure to do this will lead to dire consequences. A first warning will be issued if a person is caught plagiarizing.
If the person is caught doing it again, his/her threads will be locked until he/she can show to a mod that they can write their own posts. The threads will remained locked for 3 weeks and the person will not be allowed to RP in that time.
If the person is caught plagiarizing for a third time, they are permanently banned from the SOS. If they come back with a second user name and are found out, they will be banned again, possibly with an IP ban.
Using Pictures
I know we all like to use pictures from various websites, mangas, etc. for our characters. That's all great fun and all, but we seem to forget to credit the author. I know if someone was using my artwork all over the internet, I'd want to get credit for it. So if you get it from www.deviantart.com, be sure to credit the author.
Here's an example:
*Picture*
Credit to Artist. OR Drawn by _____.
Please keep this in mind.
Thank You,
XP SYSTEM
XP stands for experience points, it will be given after any form of training along with approvals of missions and pvp. It will be a gauge of the quality and amount of your rp'ing. It will not have any direct effect on how your character is rp'd or what he can do. However, it may have an effect on the judges decisions in promotions to new ranks.
So, to make a long story short, just keep track of how much XP you have and don't worry about it :p
Villages
From now on, I will be cutting down on the villages to just Konoha.
Those people with characters still in other villages, may continue to rp as from those villages, although I would prefer if you could rp somehow ending up in konoha eventually. Another option is to recreate a character with inventory and ability transfer.
This is a necessary step in reforms to promote interaction.
Support For Specialty Character Types
For those wishing to rp as Puppet users, Nin-ken users, taijutsu specialist (like Lee or TenTen), and mednin.
I will be attempting to put in further support for Puppet building.
Puppets:
A puppet using nin will be unable to learn jutsu in the standard form.
Rather as you increase in rank you may purchase rights to using certain types of traps.
(What these trap licenses will be will be determined as soon as I have time)
Nin Pets:
A nin pet is not a regular pet, someone choosing this character type instead of the regular shinobi should realize that.
Nin pets will gain in size after promotions (rp this however you like)
Nin pet users are limited to ninjutsu only.
(Nin pet user specific jutsu will be added to the store, such as juujin bunshin)
Taijutsu Specialist:
In return for a choice of one of these: Extra strenght, extra speed, agility, extra accuracy.
And a choice of one of these: Projectile specialist, Hand to hand specialist, Sword (kenjutsu) specialist, Weapon type of choice specialist.
By being better at these than any shinobi who doesn't concentrate on them, you will be forbidden the use of certain jutsu ranks as follows.
Genin: Only academy jutsu
Chuunin: Only D rank
Jounin: Only C and 1 B
MedNin:
Can use medical jutsu, this is a special request title that can be requested and granted only to certain rp'ers to limit the spread of medical jutsu.
Allows the purchase and training of medical jutsu.
EDIT: All other characters will follow the regular mold on the first page.
OPEN MISSIONS
Open missions, are missions that are approved and created by an rp'er that are open to entrance from other rp'ers.
When the mission is requested you should make it clear you want it to be open and to how many people.
Syntax for creations ("rank" <Title> <<Open to #>>)
Example: D Rank: Hot Soup <Open to 2>
This means any people up to 2 others can enter your thread and participate. This will add unpredictability to the story, and should be a bit of fun.
When the thread is full a mod (likely me) will change the title.
Public threads
If you are between missions or training, or are waiting for an approval you can rp in a public thread. These threads are IC and will feature different areas of Konoha. No xp will be given for rping here, but any interactions that occur here can be assumed to be a part of your characters story and thus things learned in a public thread can be used as an advantage in a PvP in the future.
OOC RP:
In the OOC RP you can do whatever you want, with or without your character. The intention is to give you something to do when you are waiting for someone to post in a thread, or are just bored and can't think of anything creative to write so you want to type out some complete nonsense.
