The next arc surely is filler. I just hope they dont actually make Kankuro, Temari and Gaara look like Naruto is at the moment.

it would have been soo nice if they had explored other characters like this from the beginning. (well-- there may be issues with that)

anyways, The best part about this double episode was the fact that Menma actually killed himself. it was the most authentic i had seen in a while. Although prior to that i wasnt soo impressed.

I wonder if we'll see any filler where Naruto doesn't beat the main bad guy with rasengan, or doesn't beat him at all.

Oh, in the end we see Naruto hit the bad guy with Rasengan directly in the eye (or at least the head), and shortly after we see him (if i'm not mistaking) tied with the other bandits with no signs of harm, only beaten up. Unbelievable.

IMO the best filler ever it actually showed the characters emotions, Neji coldness, Naruto's kindness, Tenten's uh....never mind but that along with the sad ending would lead me to believe that this was a real episode (if I wasn't a manga reader) I'd give it a 9 out of 10

imo this was one of the best filler arcs ever. Tears actually began welling up when naruto was eating that ramen alone in memory of menma:( the only glitch was that crappy rasengan finale, i swear if i have to watch one more crappy rasengan finish like that my head is just gonna explode:mad: and no, i dont think filler is finished, they might be cutting it a little close to main storyline material but what about KG? what about naruto returning to konoha?

New costume? Am I missing something? That's the same outfit Gaara wears in the Sasuke arch. He already changed it once in the manga. And just because the Shukaku is being targetted doesn't mean the fillers are over as stated prior. It is however a step to reminding the anime viewers that there is indeed a main story.

Have to say this was one of the best archs. It was consistant. All episodes with good animation. It was three episodes long, so we got alot out of it. However it didn't make us depressed that "this arch isn't ending soon enough", if that makes sense. I'm really liking how the filler people are portraying Tenten. I think that's one of the few things they are getting right. And it seems as though they did what they could to give Tenten some 'glamour' shots aswsell, lol. Great ending, and it seems as though the seven Naruto/Shizune shippers got what they want.

Anyway, about the preview, I wonder if this will incorporate the same Konoha shinobi that were involved in the Sasuke arch will come to their aid? I really don't see anything in the preview that would indicate that our sand friends would need any help. However it would be cool if Chouji, Neji, Kiba, Shikamaru, Naruto, and Lee somehow get involved. It would be cool to see that five man cell + Lee get back together. Though I doubt it. But we already see that Kakashi and his pups are involved. lol

Reguardless we've got awhile to wait. Sigh, happy holidays?

I think that the next arc probably is going to be a filler, but is slightly turning towards the main story. They say that there is a "small mesenger" who challenges Gaara, perhaps to see if if he is strong enough to defend himself if he gets targeted. Then the most logical explanation would be that the messenger knows who is targeting the Shukaku. But why kidnap ninja candidates and show Kakashi with his nin-dogs in the preview.

I dont think shukaku is being directly targetted in the next arc, its just a way to indicate gaara is the one in need, its a reference to gaara. if gaara is attacked shukaku is attacked. I dont know why ppl are saying its the end of fillers when it has been clearly stated that they end during spring. Wishful thinking?

episode/arc was really good. best in a long while. though the rasengan appeared to hit the guy's face(like someone said), but it could be that it was just approaching and it was shown what it looked like through the guy's eye.

Wow late on this one

PROS:
- As far as the fillers go, this was a really solid arc overall.
- Characters depicted correctly
- neji was cold and pessimistic
- tenten was the voice of reason, with a heart
- naruto was a bit less of a bitch and more just an authentically good person
- menma had an authentically interesting past, being one of the bandits and then choosing to change his life
- menma giving his life for naruto, naruto going nuts... I felt a real connection between naruto and menma too instead of the usual "WE ARE SIMILAR!"
- main badguy had a unique technique
- neji= kick+kaiten!!, tenten=nun chucks
- one of the best filler STORIES we have seen so far, best written

CONS:
- Seriously FPS issues, hard to make good storytelling if you are going to cheap out on production value
- We got to see neji and tenten fight but it was still so limited, they couldve made this arc another episode long and had neji and tenten get matched up against some real enemies. Had them actually haveto utilize their skill
- Neji hating on menma at the beginning: It was trying so hard. It was almost corny when he went into stance. THe second that part happened all I could see or hear was "LOOK WE ARE TRYING TO SHOW HOW GREAT A PERSON MENMA IS". I shouldnt be able to notice when they try to do things like this. Pretty minimal complaint though.
- Rasengan! Ftw! Its just like they arent even trying anymore. Think about the endless possibilities for cool attacks you could create for naruto. I mean, he can make copies of himself and the copies can turn into objects and so on so forth... it seems like endless supply of creative output to me. Instead, naruto uses kage bunshin, rushes enemy, the bunshins get beaten, rasengan saves the day. Boring.

The episode: 7/10
- One of the best filler arcs if not the best
- but youve gotta compare to the quality that should be expected from a large scale production show.
- Best storyline so far with worst production

Improvements:
- Better animation,
- better innovation in the fights
- more neji and tenten


Next Arc:
Looks like its focused on gaara... im excited. Hopefully naruto wont get *too* involved and we will see gaara crush some bodies.

Not nitpicking, but neji wasn't pessimistic, he's just objective and pragmatic. Which is a cool trait. Very ANBU like if you ask me.

From the preview the next filler arc looks like it might be pretty good. And I'm sorry for ruining the episode :D. Also, there seemed like plenty of time for the people to just walk up the hill from the village, its not like it would have hurt them to rebuild since half the town was burned down anyway. It seems like they would have benefited more from losing their homes and keeping the mine, since it seemed like the only source of income in the area.

Naruto saves a friend, gets put into a coma in the process. They arent at the village. The rest of his team/whoever is with him have to take naruto home while in a coma while protecting him. Maybe he wakes up at the end to drop his final rasengan or whatever on the main bad guy.

OTHER CHARACTERS DO THINGS! Remember how we used to get 3 episodes for SOMEONE elses fight? Lee/gaara was 3 eps... including flashbacks!

I don't know whether or not this is a good explanation... but notice that Menma used some sort of technique to get all of the tags to start burning at once to set off the explosions simultaneously? Maybe they all had to go off at once and Naruto didn't know that technique.

But I'unno, perhaps in order to ignite the notes, you must know where each one is. And a Kage Bunshin of Naruto couldn't've pulled that off.

As for the animation, the animation at no part became horrible. Which even if you think that's the case, just looking back on some of these past fillers, and even the main arch, you'll see that it's been much worse then this.

Its not about the technique but the execution. Menma could get all the tags to ignite in one simultaneous shot. No delay. Naruto's efforts would take too long. Maybe Naruto could have gotten the job done with Rasengan?

Here's my response to that Menma had no where to go after that? And don't say Konoha because it doesn't fit in the story. Menma felt he had to do this to atone and he had to do it alone.
