I have seen this question everywhere, and after 220, I had to ask it, too XD

Of course, it will probably be revealed in 221...

Anyway, I think Itachi is evil because all the evil guys are incredibly sexy.

Itachi=sexy
Orochimaru=sexy
Kimimaro=sexy
Gaara(not evil no more, but even so)=sexy

I mean, c'mon! Kishimoto must have made Itachi evil because he was so sexy!

... But that's just my opinion :D

well as for a serious answer, i dont think he is completely evil. and i think there is more to the entire clan getting wiped out. and as you heard the guy with itachi thought that sasuke was killed. i guess itachi didnt tell them the truth after he did what he did. i never thought itachi was a bad guy anyhow

But hm... I never thought Itachi was completely evil either.. he does seem to have some remnants of a heart. After all, he did once love Sasuke (I think), so it's not that he's this truly evil soul that just spawned out of nowhere, ya know?
I think he had a heart once... and I don't know what changed that, maybe it was all the power. Power does tend to corrupt some people...

but yeah, I still think he has a heart somewhere. Because while he does do bad things to Sasuke, he could just flat out murder him, but he has too much decency for that. He does seem to have some kind of ethics (ie: not killing Sasuke, telling his comrade not to start new fights, etc).

itachi is most certainly not evil
yes he wiped out his entire clan for power
but some part of him realised the coruption that came along with that power
and since he couldnt do it himself, he chose someone to avenge the clan...
who better than his own brother?
something like that....
OR he couldnt do it because his mange arised from the trauma of killing his best friend and it's an unbearable trauma so he didnt want to go though it again in killing his bro
but then he killed his family so i dont know
and the secret of the doujutsu is still to be revealed...
i think when itachi and sasuke meet, they'll discuss the doujutsu

When Itachi was fighting Kakashi (anime ep. 82 or 83 I think; don't remember which chapter in the manga), he said "Only someone with the same bloodline limit as me can defeat me." Presumably if two people with mangekyou fight, the opposing genjutsus cancel each other out or something.

That may be true, but as far as I remember, his actual were words saying that only someone with two Sharingan eyes can defeat him. Because Kakashi somehow explained that because he only had one, his Sharingan was weaker than Itachi's two. But hey, you may have just explained why they said that... I never thought about it that way :lol:
