This actually looks like it might be interesting. I like episodes that involve Konoha more on a personal life. Something the fillers have been missing.

well, the episode titles for the next after this seem to make this not a one episode thing.
i guess i better download this now and check the preview for next weeks episode.
I have my doubts its a single episode.

Yup-- it is not one episode filler. The special next week continues the arc. The way it has started i hope it doestn end up like all those that started quite as good.

well, it looks like you havent watched it yet. it is the beginning of another arc so there isnt much action. nothing spetacular but the beginning and endings are decent. And the animation seems well done.
whether the whole arc will be good--- that remains to be seen.

Wow... Well I liked it. I really like his character. Seems even more like Link... Always helping people and playing that magic Ocarina. Which isn't a bad thing.
And when I saw how many kunai were thrown I was thinking Tenten was mad at Naruto for taking the new guy in town. And then the preview made me burst out laughing.
Not too bad but i'm sure things will go downhill fast :/ Amazing that in a village of ninjas that move at half the speed of sound, none of them could get into the burning building. Or and the mystery lad plays naruto theme songs! How original!
The flutes pretty cool/original though.
I got a little bored this morning and a thought came to mind that pretty much sums up my feelings for Naruto now so I made a little picture.

Well if he ever picks up a sword and shield, or even a bow for that matter, I'm going to die. Not in a bad way, just die.
I'm actually looking forward to the next episode. We see a new team coming and they couldn't've chosen a better team. Tenten get all googly over him, either that or get one of her, "aw, he's in so much pain" things she does. Neji would be like, "don't waste our time helping others". And Lee will love him, but probably scare him. Ah, it's great to see how characters interact with different situations. At least that's one thing the fillers bring to the table. More of an a-day-in-the-life outlook on the characters.

This episode was ok but the guy is wearing girl shoes...does anyone else notice that or is it just me? This arc would have been so much better if it was a girl instead of a guy but whatever...more filler

I was thinking the exact same thing. What were the odds that he would play Naruto theme music.
But all in all (and I can't believe I'm saying this) I liked this better than the Shinobazu arc. It was really violent. I wonder if maybe they're trying to ease the viewers into how violent Hurricane Chronicles will be.

PROS:
- really well animated, doesnt look like they cheapened out.
- FIller characters well drawn. None of them look like something id doodle then fall asleep on in poli ethics 200-- for a change.
- Enma(menma? meh) is a likeable believable character so far.
- Flute technique=good. Charged up naruto without fox = cool.
- Bad guy technique, well, lots of kunai, meh, but the kunai with the banner behind it was pretty sweet.
- Seems that we have an interesting history behind menma to uncover, could be interesting
- FUnny scenes: Naruto popping up in front of the glass, naruto breaking menmas fall after he jumped outof the window. I thought both of those were pretty good.
- Get to see naruto acting a bit more like his failure-goof off self as opposed to captain planet of morality.
COns:
- Isnt the whole "memory" theme getting a little redundant?
- and isnt the whole "Memory of me doing bad things but im secretly a good person" getting a little MORE redundant(see: raiga arc, rice country arc, most recent arc, the genjutsu painting girl arc, etc etc)
- so he plays naruto's theme song on the flute. Lame. At least give it something unique
- just another storyline that will likely follow the exact same structure as the others: you have painful memories, you did bad things or you werent accepted as a child. Naruto relates to you. Bad guys show up, naruto fights them, it turns out that people hate the main filler character but naruto tells them off because hes really a good guy at heart. Just sortof... boring...
Things that will make or break this arc:
Neji+Tenten... will they actually get some real screen time?
Mennmu: His memories, his past, is it interesting or is it just too typical?
Naruto: Hes going to find a way to relate to menmu, but the question is, will he make it unbelievably corny and frustrating to watch like normal?
Animation Quality: THis episode was well produced. Will the next ones also be on par?
Pessimism: Lots of arcs START well. Lots of arcs end TERRIBLY.(the last one for example)
Steve, the reviews you've been writing for the past few episodes have given me an idea. i think that from now on the episode threads should be poll threads with everyone giving it some kind of rating. ie, 10/10 or 5/5. Something like that.

LoL. Perhaps, but it can still be used for data when someone is wondering if the episode is worth checking out or downloading.

I think it's a good idea, as long as people aren't idoits and Vote 1 for all the fillers. But beyond reasonable doubt, a person is smart, people are morons.

Good one, but I didn't like the nurses outfit Sakura had, couldn't they get one of the ones you order online? Those are MUCH better. The whole time I saw the flute I was thinking of 'The Bolero of Fire' from Zelda, all that I could focus on. Then he plays it....what Junk! Hearing smoke on the water would've been more original! COMON GUYS!!!

ok, if we go with a number system, ill give it an 8/10.
good arc, good animation. naruto didn't use the rasengan yet but instead a kunai!
loses two points because of the same memory theme, naruto relates crap. and using the naruto theme song..eh, that was just laziness.
also the thumbs up by tsuande was just awkward.
all in all, good epi.

I'd give it a 7/10 it's comedic at least and the story shows some promise. But I wish this Menma was a girl instead of a guy I mean the way he''s drawn makes it seem like he's a girl too.....I really don't understand Naruto sometimes:confused:

My main problem with it was:
"My baby, wheres my baby?!?"
Common like we haven't all seen that in every cliche burning building scene ever made. I also enjoyed that Sakura seems to be the only person brave enough to try and save people from a burning building (and while she's doing it she is walking leisurely through the flames), moreover the hospital staff seems to be horrible at their job since they left two patients behind. Tsunade and Shizune also helped out a bunch by watching the chaos and congratulating everyone on a job well done.
