Does anyone know when Naruto is set? I thought it was in feudal time because of the feudal lords etc..
Yet they have electricity and are building massive concrete bridges..
Still use knives and arrows tho.
Hell maybe its in the future and we just had a nuclear war and the Chakra (Spirit part) Is a nuclear side-effect!!! (Joking)
I could write a whole list of things but w/e

Its an alternate present. Seeing as they have eletric and things like that. But its like alternate present mixed with feudal era.

It is Different Universe. We have different physics laws there so it cannot be in my opinion alternate present

When I said different universe I mean like:
If we travel in space for a long long time we could meet.. Naruto's grave..
And this was just an stupid poll option. :P
Also: I meant alternate everything I just didn't write it because the physics are obviously dif..

In S-F movies books games
alternate futures means that in some point of time something was done different. Laws are the same
different univers means that everything can be different. laws can be different too. In mine opinion you mixed up the meanings :)
Travelling for long time we would be in the same universe we wouldnt change it :P

yeah I agree with that

It said in an interview with Masashi Kishimoto that the setting of naruto is an alternate present, with some technology, but not exstensively used.

I gave definiction of different universe and alternate present. I dont agree with Kishimoto-sama
I think it is in different universe. because the planet is different and the most important thing laws of nature are different
(ok i said it three times now :P :P )

It might be alternate present, but Japan is not that feudal or have feudal lords. Technology in Japan is scary because it is up to par with the United States and I haven't seen ANY cellphones or computers in the anime. So most likely it is in the past in Japan, but not too much in the past.

but it dont make any sense. :) (it is not an inslut ;) )
we have lords system from 16 century and we have videos motor engines. land looks different too. it is not Japan or other known country. It is too much different from our world. So it is alternative universe.
different laws are there too ;)
Ok i am boring :P

Yeah, I'm going for the alternate universe thing here. They may have technology but is clearly not at our present level...everything is very different.

definately alternate universe, our universe does not have things such as magical jutsus and uber-anime ninjas. for it be just alternate present the world would have to be the same jut in a different situation, such as germans winning WW2 and ruling the world, something like that

Fair enough.. But it could be cool to be an uber anime ninja. ^.^
