~*As the denizens of the blue, watery planet knelt down to pray, hug their families, cry their tears of fear and shiver at the sight of the madman with a trigger in his hands.
The world rages in turmoil, where demented psychos walk the streets of chaos, slaughtering everyone on sight to appease their sadistic desires. Rapists ravage and molest the innocence of children. Cultist of darker morals and nature drank poison to send quicker, their souls to their lords. Homes are broken into, cars ablaze in fire, people die even before the apocalypse that is to set earth as the universe's distant memory.
The madman, the judge, the punisher of sins, stands silently in front of the camera, networked to every station, satellites and channel of the world, with a trigger in his shaking, sweaty hands that will set the earth's core to explode, rupturing the earth, causing unnatural disasters and weather changes that would wipe the world of filthy existence.
10 seconds and the world would end with a whimper~*

same here, if you rapture trhe core of the earth the gravitational properties fo the earth would be crippled, causing all life to float of off the earths surface, into deep space, where we will die. Along with that, i theorise that all oxygen will float off of the surface, thus removing our atmosphere. If we were to still be on the earth, sunrays would scorch and the tremendous vacuum of space will cause our tiny bodies to be turned into talcom powder.

Gravity is not a force produced by the core of the Earth; it is the unexplained attraction of matter to matter. I don't believe we'd float off into space, so long as there are big enough fragments of Earth remaining.
Anyway, i'm not feeling creative at the moment, VV, I just wanted to point out to other members the reason you made this thread, which is to encourage others to write their own destruction of the Earth story/poem. (seeing as that point seems to be lost so far for some reason) =D
people are having their normal lives.
and one day a psycho in a laboratory thinks of a virus, creates it, travels across the world and spreads the virus and billions of people die, with only a few remaining underground thinking of a time machine to go back in time and find the cause of the virus only to find out htat they cannot change the past and finds out that the cause of the virus is because of a man named James Cole

I imagine myself stranded on a desert island (aka earth), surrounded by a harem of beautiful women with the blood red sun setting on the ancient world...
at least i get to admire the beauty of it all before it implodes

I actually had a dream last night of the "RAPTURE", talking in christian terms. The dream was so weird, the angels asked us to make a line and answer a survey truthfully and then some went to heaven and others stayed behind to face the antichrist. I woke up when my turn came and i reached question 3 :(...

an alien race from another galaxy is threatened by our increasing technology (WE PUT A MAN ON THE MOON!!), and decides to put an end to us for their own safety.
they disguise a secret agent as a human, and has him set up a bomb in the core of the earth. then after he gets away safely, they detonate it, imploding earth, as to not deal damage to the rest of our solar system.
we dont even know we're dead. ^^

the discovery of a super stable synthesised element (created by AH) which multiplies itself and increases the weight of earth dramatically, increasing the gravitational force between us and the moon causing the moon to fall out of orbit crushing us all to our doom...
so its never going to happen, well neither could THE CORE...

Scientists create a virus and test it on animals, and some dumb animal rights activists try to take the animals out and the animals go into an act of rage and spread the virus and kill any homosapien they see. Living for months and months until they finally wear out and eventually rids of all of mankinds existence.

That happens in a book called The Sinner by Sara Douglas, except the animals are made crazy by otherworld demons, and the only way people avoid the same fate is staying under shade all the time while they traverse the wastelands looking for safety... that could be freaky.

Human race lives to a ripe end when the sun finally loses the energy and becomes a gas giant, enveloping the planet, while humans build subspace craft and fly away from their homeworld...
*We use up all natural resources.
*First oil and other forms of petro.
*This forces the poor parts of the earth to rely on coal and wood while the wealthier nations to begin converting other forms of vegetation to ethanol.
*Eventually we'll exhause those resources too.
*Hydrogen based fuels will become popular!
*After conventional methods of harvesting hydrogen becomes too expensive for the world corporations to turn a profit 'next fiscal quarter', someone will realize that it's completely free to convert water into hydrogen (H^2 O).
*Things will begin to calm down for a few years and everyone will appear to be happy and prosperous.
*This hydrogen based fuel age will also promote further developments of long distance space travel. Realizing that it may take 20 or 30 years to leave the solar system, Astronauts will undergo hibernation techniques to slow down their heart beats thereby slowing down their aging process.
*An astronaut crew returning to earth will believe that they're returning after a 60 year journey only to realize that they were in hibernation for over 1000 years. As they begin to enter the earth's atmosphere, an argument breaks out among the crew! All the equipment says that the planet they're landing on is the earth... But no one seems to recognize it.
* It appears that the earth is just a gigantic salt mine inhabbited by massive cochroaches.
*The crew finds no evidence of human civilization.
*They quickly deduce that in the time that they were gone, the earth's water supply has been used up to produce hydrogen and somehow all human life was destroyed as the larger nations went to war with each other over the remaining water left in the world.
*After several battles with the cochroaches, the crew members decide to leave the earth and search for others like them selves that may still be out there on missions or in hibernation.

*Seeing water for the first time in a long time, some of the crew members become slightly tempted. To them it's like seeing a lake full of gold, or hundred dollar bills.
*The planet is also inhabited by a super advance alien race. Members of this alien race come to greet the crew.
*Unfortunately, the alien race can also read the crew's thoughts and they realize that they only want the water. The aliens begin to feel threatened by the thoughts of the crew towards how precious the water is to them.
*The aliens slaughter the crew in an attempt to preserve their own way of life. It turns out that the crew members were the final members of the human species.
*In the end, as epic and grand mankind's journey was, his own greed was his undoing...

The world will end by disease. Even as we speak, deadly bacteria are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics, beacuse of how easily we passed them out in years past. Our downfall will be bacteria. =)

!! But then the evil cyborg menace will come down and blowed up the bunnys but then blowed up us because there mean :'( and the last of humans ( Mr.rodgers, Batman, micheal jackson, and the kid from harry potter ) will wage war on the robot menace but before they attacked the robot menace left and we were happy for a minute but then all the smog from robots will choke everyone cept batman bcause he teh awsome and he will live happily ever after.

There are a lot of things that 'predict' the end of the world, I've noticed.
Two prominent things I really remember were Nostradamus's quatrains and the Mayan calendars.

in december 2012 the 12 "era" "period" "age" "timespan" whatever ends. and it is connected to the mayan's (and aztec's as well) believe that the world at some point ends only to be reborn again.
so 2012 marks either complete end of the world or just the world as we know it (bum bum bum)

Actually , in 2012 , scientists speculate that something far more worst is gonna happen. With all the planets alligning , the moon and the sun will have a gravitational pull that affects the planets at the time since they are closer together than they should be , forcing Earth to actually be "Flipped upside down". This means that antartica will be the northpole , and the original north pole will be the south pole now. Africa will be in America's spot and America will be Africa's spot. Yes , this means the western hemisphere will be the Eastern hemisphere.
The only thing happening in the coming years thats noteworthy is the next generation of our species.
