Well, finally the torrent is out. I Havent watched it yet- but get the raw's torrent at saiyaman (http://bt.saiyaman.info/)
i hope this is good :)
and the down-side to having 3 episodes- we will have to wait a number of weeks before the next episode. Just how long- we will know at the end of this special

Yawn, DB has had the raw for awhile now from what I'm to understand. Sigh, I've been lurking in their chatroom for abit trying to get the scoop. Yawn, such a boring thing to do.
Wow, finally. I noticed on Saiyanmans forums he was having troubles with a computer a couple months ago (still seems to have a problem I guess) and was getting some other guy to do all the capturing. Explains why nearly all the episodes take so long to get released. I guess the overhead from capturing all the new season episodes took a toll on getting Naruto done :P
Hopefully they'll have it subbed by tonight. New OP and ED and 3 episodes should take quite a while :/

the OVA doesnt quite play much of a part in this special. it is still 3 original episodes.
what woman is that? i didnt quite find any resemblance that i remember.

I'm probably (undoubtingly) reading too much into this, but she's pale and likes to paint. lol I don't understand Japanese very well, so I didn't spoil the entire special for myself. So I'm not sure what role that pale woman from the preview is playing. Just that she's very pale and likes to paint. Sound like someone we know from the manga? lol

I know who you are referring to but no way do they resemble each other. well I haven't seen the 203-205 yet but just from the previous preview, they don't look alike. Their clothes are different style too.

I love the new opening. It's a bit underwhelming for a Naruto opening, but that's what makes it so different.

Dattebayo has been done with subbing the episode a long time ago, the problem is that they can't find a quality raw worth releasing with the subs.
A quality raw is like 400,000kbs before they compress it.

Episode 202 is not officially part of the story. It doesn't count in the numbering. Previously named special "203-205" is officially "202-204" by the animation studio".

The release of episode 203-205 of Naruto has been delayed due to circumstances beyond Dattebayo's control.
The episode is a 90 minute special with new opening and ending songs. Translation and timing for all parts including the opening and ending is complete, however due to unavailability of proper quality source video (raw) we made a decision to delay the release.
Dattebayo will release the 3-episode Naruto special as soon as we are able to do so while still maintaining our standards for quality releases.

all i know is this is rediculous, claiming that the raw isn't "high enough quality".....they should know that's the least of our concerns, they can always release 2 versions. If for some reason it doesn't come out monday or earlier, I'm never watching naruto again, because as much as I appreciate they work they do subbing it, it's really not worth the trouble when we have to wait for so long...
i just looked at their site...they seem pretty high and mighty about what they do, too ;)

This is pretty funny. It's because of people like you that they don't release a lower quality version earlier on. Then they'd have to listen to hundreds of people bitching them out because the quality of the video was bad. Obviously you don't watch much anime... some people wait months for episodes to come out for less popular anime.

I appreciate what they're doing. I work both in a service trade and a kitchen, and if I were to give people low quality stuff, first I'd hate myself, then they would hate me, for a good reason. They have standards that we can hold onto as well. You, YoshiMan, are being very presumptuous by insinuating they're pompus. They do a great service for all of us, yourself included. Go through the previous episode threads and find the numerous times where people caught the poor quality of the anime: a head thats too big, a cihldish rendering, missing features. Somebody who enjoys the art and not just the habitual pastime of venturing into the story is willing to wait.
Mmm MMM! That felt nice. As long as they're just looking for a high-res. copy, it shouldn't take long. Besides, it's a long weekend, I think they deserve a little slack time. Keep up the good work DatteBayo.

Just wanted to add my quick own 2 on it... We do NOT have the right to bitch about DB. If it werent for DB and the other subbing groups, groups that often go in the face of law to continue subbing, instead of sitting here bitching about them, youd be in the bathroom crying and eating hamburgers. And fuck dude, hamburgers are really over rated.
So next time you have a problem with the way DB is doing something... how about you go find us a raw, translate it, time it, compress, etc the whole rig, then pay to keep your website then host a huge file on it. They pay to give us something for free. And you have the NERVE to criticize THEM for doing their FREE-SERVICE to the absolute BEST of their ability. Dude, dont ever bring that attitude back here.
In terms of them being "high and mighty" if you are doing something that makes thousands of people happy, none of them thank you, and you DONT get paid... fuck dude, you are allowed to be high and mighty. Infact, it wouldnt make sense if they werent.

true, hamburgers are nothing to joke about...but seriously, someone else would do it eventually, or we'd all learn japanese. it's not like i'm paying some premium for high quality videos, nor do i consider myself a connoisseur of high-society anime, holding my pinky up while i watch the episode...lol....i just want to follow the storyline and figure out what's going on, i can wait for cinema quality videos if need be. but come on, check out their site....they're not too friendly, especially to the stupid babies....and "stupid babies need the most attention" <- quote from simpsons, btw, tweaked to my particular situation

Pretty good. Fights were pretty good.
Some of the Genjutsu was abit overdone, however we don't get to see much Genjutsu that often normally.
Finally get to see some Kurenai kick some tail.
Gai-sensei being typical Gai.
A few LOL moments. (Yay Akamaru!)
Naruto proving once in for all he's far dumber then Kiba will ever be.
Oh yeah, I'm making a sig from this episode. And you can believe Akamaru will be in it. ^_^

The genjutsu fights were pretty cool. And a lot of funny stuff happens. A bird poops on Sakura, Akamaru pees on Naruto, and Naruto keeps getting caught in genjutsu. Naruto uses Tajuu Kage Bunshin and only makes a few clones. I thought Tajuu Kage Bunshin is when Naruto makes a lot of clones.

Oh and it looks like fillers got another season to go considering they made a new opening and ending LOL. I liked the white/blue fights in the opening though, I wish the show was like that, the moves were pretty cool, but in the actual show it's just the same lame stuff =/

Think of it this way...
The first part was actually the sports festival.
Then there were three episodes, each being about twenty minutes long without the commercials. Thus what DB released is only an hour long.

Your normal naruto ep are about 23min...so do the math and 3 are only about and 1 hour 9mins., but like Undrdog said (and i believe was mentioned in the previous special) the first part was festival stuff.
And "BlackLightning" if you'd read the whole thread before u post u see ur question was answered back on page 5 by Hiyo.
Any who good Ep...It was about time we saw Kurenai throw up a beat down. These are fillers worth checking out even if u are waiting on the return of our wondering comrad.

Definetly a great episode. WOW! They got some originality again! Man I loved that one, I'm really happy that they waited to release a high-res version, cause I looked at a raw to see the ending, and the quality sucked. The genjutsu is really screwy, all the fights are totally different then we've seen before. Now, does anyone else think that Kurenai is gonna' get trashed by Yakumo? I swear she's evil, those two jounins who got beat looked like they got owned, they were sitting there back to back. I'd say Yakumo has released the power, just like Naruto has released some of the Kyuubi.

I don't think Yakumo will turn evil, well she might start to seek vengance for what she believes to be the reason for her parents death, but then Kurenai will come clean with the real reason Yakumo's abilites were sealed. Then the truth behind her parents death will come out, Unkai me thinks?
Naruto, as always, will play a major roll in making Yakumo stay good with his infectious ability to make people be nice :D
Pity its not next week though :(

Great episode. I hope that the hokage didn't really order their deaths, because that just doesn't seem like the way the creator would have written him, but I imagine he didn't.
As I said earlier, great opening sequence. It's so surreal and stylized. It's got class, as opposed to the standard "EVERYONE BEAT EVERYONE UP!" openings.
And there are so many clues to the time jump it's not even funny. First the more mature looking Naruto sillouette in the opening sequence, then Naruto wondering about Jiraiya for no particular reason other than to remind people about it, then the uniform change.
I've got the feeling that Jiraiya will show up soon and take Naruto with him, but I think we still won't be out of fillers, yet. I think we're going to see some episodes with Jiraiya training Naruto and taking him around the story's world. The opening sequence suggests training and remembering the friends left behind, and the closing suggests transition. Plus, from what I hear people saying, we still need fillers for a bit in order to not catch up with the manga down the road.
The toilet humor was actually well done this time. Sakura getting pooped on = great. Akamaru peeing on Naruto was pretty funny too.

And btw guys... what i ment by 3 more years of filler... Is this isnt at all what supposed to happen during time skip(period of 3 years in manga where naruto goes off training with jiariya and see niether hide nor tail of sakura, hinata, ect... ect... ect...) So either they will do it like manga... magically 3 years will go by. or it will be like 3 years of fillers.... XD. As long as its highquality and original, I dont really care which they do. ^^

These episodes were pretty sick... that part when naruto (henge'd as kurenai) was in the mansion and he saw that painting was like something outta the grudge lol freaky! Anywho, I hope this arc ends the fillers or at the very least moves the fillers to naruto and jiraiya training outside konoha.

Here is my theory, she accidently killed her parents painting and didnt know it...just a theory...another one is perhapes her own clan killed her parents because the parents didnt want her to persue her genjutsu powers in fear for her own "fragile" life....thus making the clan a threat seeing the lengths they would go to.....once again just another theory..

I agree that both of those are possibilities. And both would cause her to fight against something, be it herself or her clan.
Had she killed her family, she'd understand the Hokage's decision and probably forgive Kurenai rather quickly.
Had it been her own clan, she'd recognize the current "enemies" to be the cause of her parents death and her miserable state she's been living in. Thus it's time to unleash her hidden power. *Hint to the title of 307.*

That's kind of a symptom of most animes, though, isn't it?
They always start the ages off young so that kids will relate to the ages, but then make them act and appear way older than they should be.

And just to go abit in a different direction, in the intro, who's modern look did you think looked the best? I'm going to lean towards Chouji. He actually looked pretty cool in street clothes.

as for the episode...like everone said, the genjustsu was crazy...im lovin it...jus pissed that naruto cant recognise that stuff yet...of course, the rest of the rookie nine...well at least kiba shouldnt be able to fight against chuunin genjutsu so well, especially a genjutsu clan, whose bloodline makes then genjutsu speciallists ...but im tryin not to judge too hard...even tho hinata had to use byakugan to notice an open window...lol
as for the ending sequence...loved the fading in of the mature naruto...not gonna say whether or not its a sign...jus that it was kool...and we all hope...
all in all. im pleased...not that it holds any weight in reality...but i am...good show!

jus finished the episode...the opening sequence...crazy, i actually started to look at naruto himself different when i saw the sparring sillouettes, do u thnk that was jus a random shadow naruto was sparrin wit or a character?...hair looked like hinata...
as for the episode...like everone said, the genjustsu was crazy...im lovin it...jus pissed that naruto cant recognise that stuff yet...of course, the rest of the rookie nine...well at least kiba shouldnt be able to fight against chuunin genjutsu so well, especially a genjutsu clan, whose bloodline makes then genjutsu speciallists ...but im tryin not to judge too hard...even tho hinata had to use byakugan to notice an open window...lol
as for the ending sequence...loved the fading in of the mature naruto...not gonna say whether or not its a sign...jus that it was kool...and we all hope...
all in all. im pleased...not that it holds any weight in reality...but i am...good show!

It is mentioned at least once in the actual anime/manga that kurenai is the newest jounin of the important ones.
so then what?...i should just dismiss it as a filler thing?
I don't think it said when Kurenai became jounin.. just that he was the most recent of the jounins in charge of the teams maybe. There's nothing wrong with this extra student unless the manga goes on later to discredit it.

yea, i just showed it to my friend and he instantly said lee, so i guess it was jus my bad eyes...but i think it made naruto look cool. and he was sparrin well with lee and neji...i mean...it may be just me...bt this is my fav beginning officially

Wowerz!!! Amazing opening, naruto never looked so cool. Now I'm assured that the filler would end soon. The detail of the opening says all.
The three episodes were outstanding in the fight scenes. I really hope Hokage ordered the attack, that'll be dark and cool...

I don't think he did... this sounds too much like a "the branch family attacked the head family to steal their daughter so they could attack Konoha with her" plot. And that old guy is probably the head of the branch family that took over for the head family once the parents were gone. The 3rd realized what was going on and gave her to Kurenai/the ANBU to protect and keep from getting insanely powerful but when she started to get that way the 3rd told Kurenai to steal her powers so she wouldn't be able to destroy Konoha if captured,etc.

Think of it this way...
The first part was actually the sports festival.
Then there were three episodes, each being about twenty minutes long without the commercials. Thus what DB released is only an hour long.
Your normal naruto ep are about 23min...so do the math and 3 are only about and 1 hour 9mins., but like Undrdog said (and i believe was mentioned in the previous special) the first part was festival stuff.

23 minutes would also mean including intro and outro, without them episodes are about 19 minutes.

Yeah, judging by Konoha's goody-two-shoes' approach to situations, your theory might be true.
EDIT: But didn't Yakumo become Kurenai's apprentice before the fire began? Why did they stop the investigation?

Wow I love the new opening and ending! They're awesome! And I also like the fact that we get to see into Kurenai's past. It's not something we normally get to see. I think this special was actually pretty good. Unlike the other fillers, it actually held my interest :)

nope, her parents were killed just before she started training under kurenai.
maybe the old guy wanted the parents kill off so he'd have control of the clan while she was being trained in genjutsu. then they'd be able to steal her once she became more powerful?

That might be more accurate, because I remember the father was pleading to the Hokage to accept her under kurenai's tutelage.
Anyway, there are plenty of information still kept secret by Kurenai.

In the ending credits of the 90 minute special, it showed Naruto walking, and for a brief moment, it flashed a picture of him in clothing that appeared like what he wears when he grows older.
Am I mistaken? Was that actually his outfit from the third movie and they were just advertising their 3rd movie again to a small extent? I didn't take a close enough look, and honestly don't want to right now >.>;;
However, if it is Naruto wearing the outfit that he does when he grows older, then maybe that means that the fillers will end sometime within this season :D

The subs don't have commericals. 60~ mins of shows, 30~ of commericals. The typical show is around 23 minutes, 7 minutes for commericals.

I know this is abit late, but I figured I'd mention it.
At what point is it said that only Jounin are to be teachers. Kurenai wasn't asked to lead a group of three genin on potentially dangerous missions. Just to teach a young girl, about Konohamaru's age or older to control her genjutsu. You could probably do that while sitting in her bedroom. Sounds more like a specialized teacher, more simular to Iruka then to a Jounin Leader.
So yeah, Kurenai could've been a chuunin at this point. Remember, genjutsu specialists seem to be pretty rare in Konoha, and thus Kurenai may've been the best bet. From the way she talks, she is a rarity, at least as far as the fillers are concerned.
However, for a chuunin to know sealing jutsu... Well, I don't suppose the chuunin are limited on what they can and cannot learn unless it's forbidden or reserved for other ranks and branches such as Jounin and ANBU.

Oh and this is also late, but to the person who said that the other genin shouldn't be able to handle genjutsu very well... I agree with you completely.

The fact that Naruto was stupid and ran out on his own, gave the others a chance to attack while the shinobi's gaurd was down.
And if you think about it,
Sakura is smart. As we know.
Hinata may be able to see through genjutsu.
Shino is smart and as we see his bug clones aren't effected and will defend him.
Genjutsu attacks the five senses in order to confuse the brain. Seeing as the human offactory receptors are the weakest of all, they may overlooked when genjutsu are being designed. For example, most genjutsu focus on hearing and sight because they we are most dependent on them. While Kiba may be able to see (smell) through them. It's a stab in the dark, and probably wrong. But just a thought. (Then again, the offactory receptors feed directly into our memory, meaning that familer smells can easily bring back memories. So perhaps shinobi like Kiba are really suseptable to interrogation?)
And also, Team Eight trains against who might be Konoha's best genjutsu users. This might explain as to why Shino was confident in the fact that his bugs were impervious to genjutsu. So yeah, they may know how to fight other genjutsu users, particually someone not as strong as their leader.

Shino was so confident cause its seems that its just a fact that genjutsu doesnt work on bugs, as he states when he appears before the user in the episode.
As bugs have completely different sensory receptors then humans its easy to assume that it wouldnt work

It isn't that she is the only one that can use it, as somebody trained her to use it in the first place. As well, the people she's been having genjutsu battles with are from a family of genjutsu users, much like Kiba comes from a family of dog users. Giving her some competition is a good idea I think, but I do believe they could have gotten a bit more creative than using the same escape every time.
