Chidori Vs Rasengan

I don't have enough infomation about Rasengan to make a decision yet. How much Chakra is needed to pull off rasengan? Does it use more chakra than chidori? How much damage does rasengan deliver?

I think rasengan has the potential to be stronger than Chidori especially if Naruto is in Kyubi state. The one displayed in eps 86 isn't stronger than Chidori for sure though. A chunnin was still concious after getting hit by it.
