I say kakashi will win because with his sharinghan,he will be a little stronger than gai.Gai might have kick boxing skills and good fighting style,I don't think he is no match for kakashi.

They are pretty even going half at it but what would happen if they went at it at full stregth? I say Guy. Guy probably has the gates and if he opens enough of them...I say he has the edge. Kakashi has the edge if Guy can't or won't open the gates. It is quite possible that Kakashi will not give Guy enough time to open any gates though

i like kakashi more, but i would have to say gai, just because he knows who to combat the sharingan well enough that kakashi couldnt use it to hsi advantage and yes he can open the gates which would completely outclass kakashi, unless kakashi is severely holding back in all of his battles, gais taijutsu is just the perfect match up for him, if gai didnt have the taijutsu mastered, kakashi would definately win

They've shown many times to be even rivals for eachother. I think Kakashi would win though. The Sharingan isn't only for playing mind games with the opponent, it gives Kakashi over 1000 different techniques to use on Gai.

SHARINGAN IS NOT INVINCIBLE... o ya also its not that u have the sharingan that you can completly counter and dodge every attack... it also depends on ur stamina, strength, agility and speed.... and frankly KAKashi's speed does not match gai's speed... and even if he has 1000 techniques kakashi doesnt have enough chakra to use them all... and he will not have time to summon a jutsu wen gai is hittin him wit his speed or havin opened gates....

I've read what people say...and i still think Kakashi would win. I don't know a lot about Gai, but it seems he's like rock lee, right? he isnt that great with seals and the like. Kakashi has a really big advantage in that he can use range attacks. Gai can only fight close up if all he can use is hand-to-hand. Kakashi is brilliant, im positive he could think up a way to get around Gai's strength and speed.

Kakashi probably could open the gates if he wanted to (he is considered a genious too and has seen how it is done) but I don't think he has the physical preparedness to handle opening many gates. Maybe he could open couple but his body would break down any more than that.

gai is the man, he is tajutsu master, but he can do nin and genjutsu both in high levels,
summon is a highlevel ninjutsu and kai (cancel) is a high level genjutsu,
but he mastered the tajutsu because of the sharingan, kakashi was gais rival, so he trained his entire life probably to beat that sharingan in every way, kakashi having jutsu doesnt really matter, every singel ninja has jutsu and they are always difrent, i dont see why kakashi having 1000 of em gives him that much of an advantage to beat his exact counterpart

Not necessarily. Itachi was quite surprised how well Kakashi used his Sharingan. Except one super genious (Itachi), it took a regular genious (Sasuke) 12 years to activate his Sharingan. Who knows how long an average Uchiha needs to activate his Sharingan?

Episode 84 showed the massacre. I don't remember seeing any other Uchiha member activating their Sharingan against Itachi when their life was on the line. Some less talented uchiha might not be able to activate their sharingan in their lifetime.

I was just reponding to Kakashi's sharingan being weak. He is the second best user of Sharingan right now. His problem with the Sharingan is stamina and the length of its usage, not effectiveness.

Itachi is just a freak...almost as bad as Orochimaru. He killed his whole clan just to see if he was capable...hmm...sounds like a serial killer to me. Sasuke seems like he used to be a normal kid but common...after experiencing something like what he did...would you be normal? As I said before Kakashi is like the definition of cool. He is always rationally analyzing his situation even if the situation seems impossible to beat.

I don't think it has anything to do w/ the number of sharingan eyes you posses...just personality differences.

hehe. sasuke learned how lee moved. he needed super training to have lee's speed. that's why kakashi trained him. (plus chidori)
sharingan cannot copy speed. it would be supreme weapon and it isnt. person who can copy speed can copy strenght too. he (or she) doesnt need to train then.
i say it again: sharingan cannot copy speed. can copy persons move so it will be easier to increase your speed. (this thing happened with sasuke) but during fight gai will be alwyas faster than kakashi.

mmmm... well i guess that kakashi's chidori wont reach gai when he is not able to catch up to him, but remember kakashi is a jounin, and he can use kage bunshin(shadow replication) but gai doesnt because he has no talents in that area. kakashi can easily surround him with kage bunshin and use chidori to finish him off.

We don't know if Gai is as bad as Lee in the arean of ninjutsu. He definitely not as good as Kakashi but I don't think he is as bad as Lee. We already know he can summon and that is not an easy jutsu to master.

Gai said Lee was similar to him because he works hard I believe. Gai is at least an ok Ninjutsu user (he can do summoning jutsu). He prefers to use taijutsu just because it is his specialty.

Lee has to know at least the basic ninjutsus to pass the academy also. He just doesn't have any talent for them.

Technically, Kakashi could copy Gai's moves. Does that mean he can do them as well? I think not. I don't believe Kakashi does enough physical training to even handle the power and speed of Gai. Gai hasn't really used any ninjutsu yet like Hyuugas. It also seems like he doesn't concentrate much on ninjutsu training. It is possible that Kakashi might know all of Gai's taijutsu but more likely that he knows majority. I can totally see Gai trying to hide some against Kakashi. The thing to consider is if Kakashi can pull off those taijutsu moves as effectively as Gai. I highly doubt it.

I said this before somewhere but gonna repeat it:
The real important thing is not if you can open the gates but if your body can handle the opening of gates. Normal shinobis who can and does open the gates would not be able to sustain the power and speed increase for as long as Lee and would suffer more damage afterward. Only reason why Lee's gates are so effective is because of the ridiculous physical training he endures. I don't think Itachi, Kakashi, nor the 3rd goes thru the kinds of physical training to effectively pull off the gates. It would be wise for them not to use it even if they knew how. It would be way too risky since if you don't defeat your enemy while the gates last...Sakura can beat you afterwards. This is assuming that Gai is in much better physical shape than Lee...I believe that is the case.

Anyways back to the topic. I think Kakashi would win, simply because he has amazing reflexes, and is a genius. Just look at the fight with Itachi if you want to know what I mean by reflexes. Sure, Gai has Taijutsu, but we don't know what kind of techniques Kakashi knows. With Kakashis ability to form quick hand seals, and amazing reflexes, he could just use a technique to counter a physical attack.

you make a lot of sense, but one thing that you've got wrong is that calling out the techniques, that's just so that the watchers can now what jutsu it is, since it's impossible to remember all the hand seals, so it's like they think the jutsus name, no calling it out to his opponent.

I'd say Gai simply because Kakashi's Sharingan seems to take quite a massive toll on his chakra, and if Gai is anywhere near as fast as Lee, then Kakashi would need his Sharingan in order to follow his movements.

We can assume that Gai can also open the gates at least as far as Lee can, because he taught Lee. Not to mention how calmly he stated how many Lee could open, as if that was just some small feat.

Gai didn't open gates one through 6. He only opened the 6th gate, the view gate. Think about it, if Gai really did open 6 gates, how could he have done that, beat a clone of himself and give a three day piggy back ride back to Konoha for Kakashi? There's a reason why it's forbidden. Forcing the limiters off your mind to push your body beyound it's breaking point is deadly no matter how strong you are.

besides if one uses gates enough they become more resistant to it, also it may not be possible to open 1 gate at a time, wouldnt make any sense, then they wouldnt call it 1, 2,3,4 gate and so on, they would just have thier own names.

if you can open anyone you choose, theres no reason for numbering them

Actually, each gate IS specifically numbered. Go back to the diagram in chapter 10. It starts from the head to the base of the spine from 1 to 7 and comes back up to the heart to make 8. This gate is called the death gate btw. Also, if you notice Lee didn't open 5 gates all at once. He had to open each one by one. Then again, Gai is pretty skilled and maybe has found a way to bypass that. But, if he has found a way to open a certain amount of gates simultaneously, then he can certainly pick and choose which gate he wants to open since a different gate does something different depending on what he needs.

During kakashi explanation you see chakra forcefully moving through the gates in a path

Therefore whatever gate you open after 2 follows the same path of gates in order of 1-2-3-4 and so on!!

I voted Kakashi but after serious consideration I think Gai would win. I mean, Gai took on Itachi and Kisame... And Itachi warned Kisame not to take him lightly. Gai stood to Itachi's Sharingan (prolly from practice against Kakashi). And yea, Gai is faster than Kakashi (prolly stronger as well). Kakashi is hella fast, but his specialty is more Ninjutsu/Taijutsu, whilst Gai is (from what we've seen so far) purely Taijutsu. Nonetheless, I think Kakashi has better (or prolly equal) strategies than Gai.
