I have to agree.
Mustand is much better in long distance fights, where scar usually has to get close to his oponents.
However, Scar has been seen using alchemy for long distance attacks.
I think that was when he was fighting Alex Louis Armstrong ;)

Scar, you forget he also ahs range, maybe his attacks wont be direct like mustang's but he can alter the area aroudn him and make it close combat.

Scar because he has infinite power!!! He absorbed the philosophers stone, and although I only watched up to ep 17 I think he is the philsophers stone or something. It might have to do with why alchemy is illegal in the Ishtar land and why those symbols of ultimate alchemy are found within the Ishtar people. This is mostly a guess, but since 1 red stone gives a regular alchemist super powers and Scar absorbed one of those stones it leads me to believe Scar has near infinite power. Scar's hand thems him with to do, how the alchemist their fighting uses alchemy, and basically kill anyone that is human and an alchemist. Those Homunuculus are not humans and are super strong alchemist that seem immortal.

I don't think Mustang can survive those three, but Scar did, just barely.

If they fight near water, Mustang is a dead man.

Well, hrmmm tough topic..... If it was something easy like Scar vs. Greed then it would definetely be Scar but this.....hrmmm, hrmmm. I'd have to say Mustang, yes Scar does have a ranged attack but it is nothing compared to Mustang's and as for the fight between Armstrong and Scar I believe that Armstrong should have definetely won that one.

First of all, we don't know if Scar would beat Greed, but my money says no since we have seen him get whipped by the homunculus before. Second of all, Mustang is a great alchemist. We have seen a few good fights from him like Mustang vs. Ed and Mustang vs. King Bradley. Mustang would beat scar down.

Roy would win, though. There's no way Scar could block against Roy's flame attacks. And I don't think Mustang would let Scar get too close.

we really dont kno the full ability of scar or mustang. we've only seen mustang use one glove at a time. if he were to some how combine both in an extreme flare then i dont think scar would have a way of dodging at all.he could however use his quick wittedness to somehow tear the ground and pull it up for defense but we never kno unless we actually see the fight

I say it would be impossible to tell. It would depend completely on the suroundings. But if it was an open area, I would say mustang would win. If it was a area with debre and other objects, I would say scar would win. If you think about it, It doesn't matter at all. If a battle were to take place between the two it would end however the creator wanted it to end, making it as dramatic as possible.

I say Mustang coz he's got a nice teqnique! When in combat it better to do it from a distance. Close combat isnt gr8t! So Mustang will fry his Scar's sorry ass. ^_^

after consideration i say it depends on where they are located.... and wher eth efight starts...

If it starts at range i say mustang wins GG no way he gets close he snaps his fingers and boom scar bbq time...

Wow it's been a long time since I watched this series. All Scar was able to do what dismantle stuff with his arm without requesting a transmutation circle. I don't remember his ranged attack.. why that after he got the philosophers stone put in him?

This is a tough. Roy definitely has range.

I'd probably go with Roy. Scar doesn't know alchemy at all.. he just has the power to dismantle stuff. Roy is an alchemist, he should be able to do simple alchemist to avoid close combat.

just finished the anime over the weekend...and from what was revealed in the anime I'd have to say Mustang has the slight advantage. If the space was enclosed like it was against pride then the story would be different and if it there was a water source nearby.

Mangas have the advantage of "less is more". Every drawing has meaning. Where as some of the scenes in an anime down really have much meaning and are just extra stuff... then theres VAs... some can be good, some can be bad. I didn't say there was anything wrong with liking mangas. I'm happy to settle for the animed version of the story as long as it ends well. I don't care about reading the manga to get more information on a story that's already ending well in my eyes. Unless the manga was finished and the animed was finished... then maybe i'd try reading the manga just to get the extra information before the story completely ended. I don't think i'd wanna start reading an ongoing manga after the anime ended well.

Wait, where's this "Mustang would win" and "Scar would win" crap coming from! Such little explanation is saddening. I'm gonna go off the anime, since it's the only finished one so far.

Anyhow, while Mustang does have range, he's also much slower than Scar (Scar rivals homunculi in raw speed. Ed was faster than Roy, and we all see how easily Scar can catch Ed's blows). Scar's ranged attack is literally sending a super fast typhoon of rock at you, but it's not as effective or accurate as Mustangs. If it's close quarters, Mustang doesn't have much of a chance (Unless he wants to flame himself too...in which case, Scar can take a lot more damage than Mustang).

I'm giving this one to Scar.

Why?

Well, does anyone here remember the Scar vs Kimbley fight? Kimbley with a stone is far more powerful at range than a regular old Roy Mustang, and even after hitting Scar with a direct super-blast (The likes of which kill dozens of regular people at a time just from the shockwave of it), Scar quite easily closes a couple dozen yards in distance in under a second, while simultaneously avoiding the blast like it was nothing.

Scar can quite easily close range against Mustang/Kimbley/Armstrong opponents because he's too fast for them to really follow (Especially with Mustang and Kimbley's exploding-frenzies giving him far more cover than he needs), and Mustang isn't even close to as fast as Kimbley (who could stand toe to toe with Scar better than Ed could, and Ed, before getting his faster automail, moved faster than Mustang), so Mustang's right out screwed.

And, come on, Armstrong deserved to win that fight against scar guys? Please, in the manga, he was straight up fighting to stay alive, in the Anime, he got buried under a mountain of rock -- quite possibly the only time he's ever been distinctively hurt in the whole series. Scar comes out of the battle unscathed. Scar owned Armstrong, because he was fast and his alchemy was even more destructive.

Scar's very, very close to god-moddy powers just on his speed alone (He climbed a sheer wall in a second!) and with an insta-kill arm, he's easily one of the strongest characters in the FMA universe.
