In terms of power, Naruto is the best choice but he needs to mature intellectually by a boat load to become hokage. Hokage is a leader position and Naruto is no leader at this point and don't really have a lot of potential in that department. Sasuke is better than Naruto in terms of being a leader but he is too bent on revenge which undermines his decision making. I would say from the list we have here the best choice would be Kakashi. Kakashi never seems to panic even in bad situations and is able to think fast and rationally to solve his problems. Kakashi does need to get stronger than he is now though.

Jiraiya would be too old then and Kakashi still has room to grow. Jiraiya isn't going to get much stronger than now. More likely that he at his peak or already past it. There are not that many in Konoha that are stronger than Kakashi right now. I would guess that respective fathers of Konoha gennins are at his level but not necessarily stronger. Only one I would bet money on that is stronger than Kakashi (other than Jiraiya) in Konoha is Hiashi. This doesn't matter though. I don't think Hyuuga are ever even considered for the Hokage position because they are the trump card of their village. You usually keep your trump card secret until it is absloutely necessary. The more times you use your trump card, value of it diminishes. If a Hyuuga becomes a hokage then trump card status of hyuuga are greatly reduced. I don't think either the clan or the village would want that to happen. Hyuuga are all about protecting the head family and their secrets so that they can remain the trump card for Konoha.

well, he did offer to die in the first place. remember, sasuke and naruto were scared pissless in the forest after they had the same jutsu performed on them. actions through trauma is very different from actions through intention.

Kakashi was thinking about killing Oro. He wouldn't have activated chidori if he wasn't serious. The real reason why Kakashi didn't attack is because Oro walked away. Why get into a fight that you have very little chance at winning when you don't have to? Kakashi did not know at that time Oro was planning a full out war. What good is it if you end up killing yourself for no reason? Kakashi had no reason to risk his life then. If he knew what Oro was planning, I think he would have risked it and attacked Oro.

I think Kakashi would be a great Hokage, as soon as he gets strong enough for the title. Not only is he intelligent and not rash, but he also cares a lot about his friends. Kakashi places a very strong emphasis on teamwork and watching out for each other, and thats what a Hokage does -watches out for his villiage. Only an advanced Senin could become a Hokage.
The 3e Hokage trained Oro, Jir and Tsu. ---> One of them could become the 5e Hokage. Tsunade will become the 5e Hokage for 99%.
The 4e Hokage trained Kakashi, Obito, ????? ---> One of them could become the 6e Hokage. Kakashi doesn't train Naruto anymore I think. He could train himself up to a Senin. Altough I think that Kakashi doesn't become the 6e Hokage. It has to be someone we don't know yet.

If we watch the strenght, I'd say Naruto, since he has huge potential for strenght, but it would take few years for him to mature for the hokage title. And for that time, he must have gotten lot stronger. And then, there is Kakashi, if he'll gains more strenght I think that he would be better opinion for the 6th hokage, and naruto as the 7th, because Naruto is too young. And Kakashi, is still strong, has sharingan and has over 1000 techniques, so I'd say Kakashi would become the 6th and Naruto, once matured, would become the 7th hokage. hmm, it depends, if the current hokage, tsunade suddenly dies lets say like in a year or two then i think that jirayua would be a good choice. Kakashi is strong but not strong enough, and Naruto would still be "under construction" and wouldn't be strong enough, yet, i think. :D That last thing you said about Naruto making kaga bushins is so true, I think it would be pretty funny and whats wrong with the Hokage handling out missions while doing others as long as they get done and the other ningas get there missions, and I think by the time he becomes Hokage he will have the respect he wants, but I know by then it will be less of a slefish reason and more of a "I wanna help these people" reason. i think its cause the Hyugas want to be kept as a trump card. if they're overused or are often in the center light (such as Hokage), they tend to lose their value cause it more obvious how they fight. Naruto beating Neji, to me, was by the skin of his teeth. if Neji's techniques had been better known i think Naruto would have had an easier time fighting him.

The Third was taught by the First/Second.

Where did you get that idea? First of all if Naruto were tho become hokage he couldn't just switch the two families, it doesnt work that way. Its in the Hyuuga blood, they are bound by it. Second, the hokage is head of the military unit, the elder council would deal with a situation in this reguard. Third, KageNaruto is right, its rediculus when someone is so into a character it impairs there judgement. People need to start thinking logically.

Gai's not suitable for Kage in my opinion not only cause he specialize in Taijutsu but cause he looks naive some times, he may be a good sensei, but he lacks in strategic thought. Kakashi is a genius and thats why he probably can fill the spot for a while, but in my opinion he doesn't have the strength needed to protect the village from opponents like Akatsuki or even stronger. Konoha will be in deep trouble if something happens to Tsunade. The younger generation Naruto, Shika, Neji etc, isn't ready or strong enough to take that responsibility. Actually only Jiraiya will be able to fill Tsunade position even if he doesn't want to... If Itachi wasn't a missing nin and he was loyal to the village and was more social he would be perfect for the job.

Jiraiya is the best choice after Tsunade but as others have said, he doesn't want it. Unfortunately, hokage title comes along with office duty and that probably will kill Jiraiya...unless maybe you get him a secretary that's super hot...lol.

So the next best candidate strategically speaking would be Kakashi but I agree w/ mania. He would be overwhelmed by stronger opponents like in Itachi caliber. I think the best option for strongest shinobi other than Jiraiya for hokage then would be Hiashi. I highly doubt even the likes of akatsuki would like to face someone who has the capabilities to kill you w/ one "simple" (simple for Hiashi) strike.

In summary, Hiahshi has a much more threatening presence than Kakashi imo. In terms of leading strategical warfare or planning I think Kakashi is the better choice.

Why do you say she's weak? Jiraiya and Orachimaru are pretty badass and capable of taking on Akatsuki and they wouldn't want to fight her. I would say she's very strong. We just haven't seen her go all out at 100%. When she fought against Oro and Kabuto, she got her ass beat first because she was paralyzed with the site of blood. If she had started that fight without that fear and not being drained of a good amount of chakra I believe she could have done some serious damage. I don't think the konoha village made her hokage just for show.

That fight really did make me question Tsunade's Sannin title. But I can sort of understand cuz she was out of shinobi ways for years (rusty) and was outsmarted. Even if you are the strongest, u can lose to weaker opponents if u r outwitted by your opponent. Still the fact that a Sannin got outwitted itself is not a good sign. I rank Tsunade worst in terms of the 3 Sannins in terms of combat.

Yeah, I don't recall ever seeing him do anything that showcases him being a genius like Shikamaru. Maybe there's more development of him in the manga, I haven't read all of it so I don't actually know. But we all know the #1 rule in the anime section. Leave manga info out if it hasn't happened in the anime.

Are there any episodes where Shikaku demonstrates kage level smarts? The only thing I could think of that might support this some is that the kids all seem to perform the jutsu's of their parents, so Shikaku is obviously well trained in the shadow possesion jutsu's. It seems like using these attacks does require a good strategic mind since that seems to be the only way Shikamaru is able to catch people with it. But it doesn't mean he's as smart or smarter than Shikamaru.

Thats bs... You can't say that, judging only out of her fight versus Kabuto ... She beat the crap out of Oro when she got in her senses... I think Tsunade is the more underrated between "the three" cause she's a woman, and cause she performed poorly versus Kabuto. If Chiyo and Sakura killed Sasori i don't see why Tsunade don't have a chance against Akatsuki... The only thing is she can't leave her village easy... But i bet that when someone decides to attack Konoha he will face her wrath...and then we will find out what she really made out for. Actually about the Sannin i assume they are all pretty much at the same level, even if their powers are different.... I don't believe that Jiraiya>all.

And in Narutoverse there r a lot of dependencies. Just because I rank Tsunade worst of the 3 Sannins doesn't mean she matches up badly to an akatsuki. She could very well be considered the favorite against a certain akatsuki while Jiraiya/Oro might fare badly against that same opponent.

Let's take Itachi as an example, there are lot of speculations about how Oro fears Itachi. Tsunade might match up really well to Itachi. Since Sakura is a genjutsu type maybe Tsunade is too. And knowing her medical knowledge she might have techniques that makes her immune to genjutsu...even the daunting Tsukuyomi. So yeah I put Oro above Tsunade when matched up together...doesn't mean I think Tsunade is weak.

For me she is only a sannin for her great healing and poisoning abilities.
We havent seen anything special from her although she was technically capable of doing it in the sannin fight( full chakra control etc.)
Sure, she has some hard punches but it doesnt look like that she could hit a high level ninja with it cause it seems that she is not so fast..

And sasori wasnt defeated because of sakura, most of it was chiyos work after all.
And in the end he only was defeated cause he wanted to die.
