In the manga, after the naruto/sasuke fight it skipped back to a flashback of kakashi's past (note: a gaiden is usually a short or side-story) then continued on with the story with naruto. So the first thing we will see when the anime starts following the manga again is the kakashi gaiden.

Well the 3rd movie would probably mess up the anime if they were to start back on the manga storyline right now. They'll probably want to wait to do the jump after the movie which comes out the first week in August. Assuming the Kakashi gaiden is 3-4 episodes we'd be looking for the fillers to end near the end of June which would still fall in line with what the producers at the anime studio claimed (spring 2006 would be the end of fillers. June 21st = first day of summer)

So if fillers ended on June 21st and they started up the gaiden it would probably take until the movie and they could get back on track.

That might explain why the fillers are such poor quality too if they have been taking these filler seasons to focus on the third movie.

I was hoping they would show the 3 young sannin more, someone should email the filler makers and tell them they need to get permission for that, or mabey kishimoto has something up his sleeve already for past lives. that is what i was expecting too. but it didnt happen. well, i am glad that it didnt. that is because with the way they animate some of the episodes, i was afraid they were going disgrace one of the sanins by giving them a shoddy animation sequence.

at least, with shino in the next episode, we may get lucky. the last one involving kiba was quite good.
