i think they got some pretty good voices for a japanese anime czu there are so many characters in naruto and it's pretty hard to get some dubbers

The only voices I don't really like are Choji, konohamaru, and Itachi. At first I disliked Lee's voice (and still do slightly) but it actually kinda fits him (sounding kinda determined/naive/eager.) At first I disliked naruto's but I think she is getting better at not only acting but saying things in a "naruto" fashion. Dosu is good. Oro is pretty good. Ummm, sakura is pretty good (she sounds like... well an annoying 12/13 year old girl in america, which is basicly how she actually is.) The guy who does Shika is doing a pretty good job at maintaing his sub character (he sounds kinda lazy and like everything is just "troublesome".) Gaara is one of the best from what I've heard so far. Gai's VA is good for the comedy parts but needs to lighten up his "goofiness" when he's doing serious stuff.

I started out watching the dubs, but then one week they DIDN"T AIR AN EPISODE (>:O!) so I came here and DL'd all the wappanese episodes so it's all good :p

but yeah, even having started out on the dubs and then going to japanese... I can't think of a single character that sounds... 'right'

Truth be told... the voices would be terrible if they had the original VAs speaking English. I've heard JP VAs try to speak English before (Mahou Sensei Negima comes to mind) and it just sounds horrible...

Leave the English to the English speaking VAs, and the Japanese to the Japanese VAs please.

I think some of the VA's are ok, but I also think some need to go back to school. When you can hear the actor TRYING to make an emotion, they have failed. Some of it is very good, but sometimes its painful to listen to. It has improved greatly since the beginning however.

Man, I love the dub haters, I love how negatively some of you look at the series. "OH MY GOD! HE DIDN'T NAIL THE VOICE JUST PERFECTLY! OH MY GOD, HE DIDN'T TRILL THE R ON NARUTO!!!" C'mon, we're not japanese(for the most of us), and I think the dub is great, they keep the script as original as possible, they have fresh, original voices, and they're making uncut DVDs THIS year, and they're selling them dirt cheap, why complain?

I understand that dude, but if you look at it from a different prospective it could be SO much worse, they're at least ATTEMPTING to portray the voices the best they can, and their reason for doing that is obvious, sharing the wonderful world of Naruto to a new crowd, now I know some people will be "Man, look at this, it's gotten so overrated!" but more popularity comes more games, more art, more naruto in general. :P

Well, I just saw for the first time a surfer in a fur coat... Seriously why'd they make Kiba into a surfer? I mean I know of the voice actor and he's great, but what inspired that voice for Kiba? And why did they need to change Akamaru's voice? He only speaks once, at least as a pup and that was for the new years special.

Sigh, I like more of the normal voices such as Sasuke, Sakura, Ino, Neji, Lee ect... But Chouji's and Shika's are weird to me.

woot hiyo and me have almost the exact same opinions. i however heard neji's voice from a clip of the ps2 game in english and it actually sounds quite good, we'll see how he sounds when he fights hainta, or naruto. if he doesent sound good by then, meh, but so far he had very little ttalking time

I actually like the way Kankuro's voice is turning out. I think my least favorite is Shino's.....he's not supposed to be Konoha's L33T Haxor....He sounds way to nerdy. His voice should be dark and mysterious, even more so than Sasuke's. And Kiba's voice is pretty well done, it's got a little doggishness to it, and being done by Kyle Hebert is even better, I mean it's Gohan come on, though I woulda picked him for Naruto. But so far I would say I like Kakashi's, Kankuro's, Gaara's, and I gotta say this....I do like Oro's voice actor.....those are my favorite. Though I have to give credit to the ppl doing Naruto and Sasuke, they are getting the concept of the characters and beginning to do them exceedingly well.

I've seen only one episode dubbed so doesn't say much but Kakashi's voice got to me. Kakashi is laid back but assured as well and the voice did not give me any assurance to how confident he really is.

The first season was horribly dubbed, true. But as much as I never thought I'd say this, the dub is actually good now. The new episode where Lee loses to Gaara, everyones voices were good. Naruto actually showed strong emotion, as did everyone else. Only downfall is that Neji's VA still sucks.

well i think that the Dub has compleately been a major flop and is a total waste of time to tell you the truth.

people say that its good after a while but the dub has been sucked from its origonal storyline to make it a little for child friendly (and by that i mean so a younger audience can watch it) but i think if something is made the its origonal dialoge should be kept, why do americans have to spoil everything in the anime world why why why??? it drives me insane keep it as it is, ok sometimes people want to watch something in there language but its just wrong to chage the origonal format.

i also hate the fact that they deleted some really great scenes in the dub, sometimes stories dont make sense anyway.... hehe

I like most of the Japanese voices way more than the English ones. Well...from what I've heard so far. I only have the first uncut box set. -_- I really wanna hear Neji's Japanese voice and see what I think about it.

Hmm...anyway, the only Japanese voice that I hate right now is Zabuza's. His English one is sooooo much better. And Shikamaru's isn't that good either...it's too deep.

And the main English one I despise is Naruto's. *cringes* His dubbed voice makes me flinch. It's so annoying. I squeaked when I heard his Japanese one because it was so cute! XD I was like "OMG! HIS VOICE DOESN'T SUCK YAY!!!" His Japanese voice is halping me regain a little more of my respect for him back...I kinda lost all respect for his gaytard butt when he unfairly "beat" Kiba in the preliminaries, kept screaming at Hinata to keep fighting when she was ten minutes away from death (he might as well have just said "KILL HER, NEJI!! KILL HER!!" -_-), and then stole all Lee-chan's dreams of beating Neji from him. And his little buttnugget "BELIEVE IT!!111" doesn't help either.

Anyway, sorry for my ranting. ^_^; Back to voices.
I can't decide which of Konohamaru's voices I like best. They're both really cute. ^^ A lot of the characters' voices, I like both of them, just the Japanese a little more.

Naruto's voice does fit his character... You've got to remember his character is suppose to be annoying. Question is, is it really a good idea to make an annoying character like him the main character? The answer is no, it's not. However during the first season he is annoying. And we dealt with it without much complaint because we had nothing to compare him to. With the second season, even the japanese voice acting became better and Naruto became less annoying. Low and behold, the english dub is getting better aswell. Seriously, go back and watch the japanese first season. It seems a little more annoying, and my thoughts towards this are if I were bilingual to the extent where Japanese was a second language to me, then I would probably find Naruto's voice just as annoying as we do in the english version. I think the language gap hides the voice actor's overtones.

However I do agree that alot of the VAs in the english version is just, gah. I like Lee's voice. Yeah it's not the same as the japanese, but it works. As said before Tenten's sounds the most natural and matches her personality and that of the Japanese VA's. Kiba sounds like a surfer in a furcoat, and this voice would easily conflict with his character later on aswell. Neji is off, Sasuke sounds cool... I mean not in a good way. I mean in a non emo-kid way. Which just sucks. In a good way. Sakura, eh sure why not. Ino's is good. Shika sounds just as evil as Gaara. Chouji sounds like an otaku. Shino sounds like he is a bug. Hinata sounds good I suppose. I mean I think she's voiced by the girl who did Shinobu in Love Hina.

However Kurenai's voice is amazing. And again this is because of an amazing voice actress they shelled out money for when in the end Kurenai has all of seventeen minutes of screentime.

Unfortunately I watched the Japanese version before watching cartoon network. Naruto on cartoon network sucks!! The voices are aweful. Honestly it sounds like they hired one teenage boy to do the younger male and female characters and two older dudes to do all of the other characters.

It reminds me of the DragonBallz season with the Ginu Force, lousy voice production. They have a great anime series and need to spend more time delivering a quality production.

That's exactly what happened to me. The weird thing is, I didn't notice a difference when I went from dub to Jap, but when going back from Jap to dub, there was a definite difference.

If I cared enough, I'd sig this for epic levels of not making sense. Most of the time we see him, especially so far, he IS being a moron, a pure comedic figure. Most of the voices are alright, and a few can be accused of following the source material TOO closely. Kankurou for one, sounds different, but I think he's one of the better voices since they adopted the english "version" of Kankurou's attitude to his dubbed counterpart.

Of the few that are closest to the original and pretty well in character, Lee and Gai are near the top of the list. Just spot on, allowing for awkward sentence structure at times due to the fact that, well, some things just take a really long time for other languages to say.

Yeah, like this one sentence thing in english, took one word in japanese. Then there was this one sentence english thing again but took an age to say in japanese. Also, if you take spanish, the phrase for "I like the clothestore" becomes "(A mi) me gusta la tienda de ropa." Its simply grammar concepts and actual words that change the length.

yeah I think that tsuandes voice doesn't really fit. I love Itachi's zabuza's and Kisame's. I mean they really got them right. Also they perfectly got Kakashi's and Gai's voice. Not to mention ankos. They only thing that sucks is that they use people that have a terrible voice for minor characters or that we have only seen once in for like a second.

I like all the english VA's except Naruto's I dunno I mean its gotten better over the eps but I still cant get used to it Maile < Junko. Im getting more and more used to it so Im beginning to accept it more and more like this most recent ep that aired which was "Three-Way Deadlock Battle Deadlock! Tsunade & Jiraiya vs. Orochimaru!!" I was quite impressed with, they did well with it. But after watching the subtitled for so long, I still cant get used to Naruto's scratchy off-pitched voice, I still prefer Junko-chan :)

That's the opposite for me, I watch the dubbed version all the way to like 50 then I started with subbed. Then after seeing eposide 70 dubbed I relized how good it was and watch every dubbed eposide to date. I thought since I seen it already it sucked but it was better then I thought.

Yes, I know, they took that woman as a voice actor because Oro's first appearance in the series was disguised as a woman, but couldn't they just hire another actor after that? One of the coolest characters now has the most unfitting voice in the whole series. This sucks.

Orochimaru is alright, but Naurto is just annoying now. But I still watch them since sometimes I just don't feel like downloading the Japanese episodes and I like watching episodes on my TV. So I'll check out the dubs when it's a good episode :D BELIEVE IT!! haha

i have a little bit problem about naruto shippuuden. hope u can help me to find whats wrong with the video that i download.In episode 1-2 its ok and episode 3, but in 64-65 to 66, 67 episodes that i download.Ive played it in windows media. the sound always first to hear than the video. its like the video is delay or somethin. even if the characters are not talking u can hear the voice of characters and the subs also. its like the sound is faster than the video or vice versa. i cannot figure it out whats the problem. if i play it in real player it says u must update the player then, i update it then nothing it says there is no software update available to support this content CONTENT TYPE "ICM.
