yeah, i have heard from teachers, etc. that iq means absolutely nothing. just cause you have a great iq doesn't mean your super smart, and just cause you have a low iq doesn't make you a moron. iq is more of quick smarts, nothing like problem solving or any real important stuff.

I USED to share these sentiments regarding IQ tests, thinking that while they were decent -estimations- of one's intelligence, they can hardly be accurate, right?
No... If you study the way these psychometric tests evaluate the functions of your mind, you'll gradually see within increasing awe how eerily accurate they can be.

Please don't example these fast-food IQ tests to discredit -real- IQ tests.

If a teacher tells you 'IQ means nothing', it's either because they're utterly ignorant to psychology and psychometrics, or they're trying to console a child who scored badly. (lest they're nursing their own ego should they have happened to score sub-genius :roll:)

I am over 30 points above genius level. I wouldn't put that on a job application, but it certainly justly depicts my intelligence comparatively to how I interact with most other people. I can safely -estimate- an observed individual's IQ within a 10 margin of error. Surely, if the complex methods of psychological analysis are beyond your comprehension, this simple non-coincidence is enough to convince?

Yeah the TAKS tests blow, especially the english one. I hate writing essays. The thing that pisses me off is that the TAKS test usually consist of almost nothing we learned that year. Like in bio, most of the questions were physics, I mean come on, bio is bio and physics is physics, they aren't the same, therefore physics shouldn't be on a bio test. i dont think you should think of yourself as less smart- at all. i sent an email to one of my old friends, a psychology phd instructor, and i learnt a couple of things:
IQ measurement criteria is contrived to have a mean of about 100 and a standard deviation of about 15. Less than 0.4% of the population has an IQ > 140. which means since 68% lie within 1 standard deviation of the mean- you lie in that group- pretty smart. That doesnt make you less smart at all.

But of course there are a lot of of faux-IQ tests out there-as Named mentioned earlier. And although it is not known that Albert Einstein actually took an IQ test, his IQ is estimated to be a little above 160, even Galileo Galilea is ranked a little higher than him(how ironic- right?. In Galileo's time IQ tests hadnt been established).

and take comfort in the fact that, some of the highest IQs around are shared among geniuses and often "crazy"/autistic people.

You see, although IQ is a good delimiter of intelligence, at times it doesnt predict how successful and happy your life will be.

I do not see what purpose life experience would serve to those who haven't the presence of mind to understand, organise then apply that acquired knowledge to a life philosophy. Higher intelligence generally means higher awareness- you can actually absorb more of every seemingly insignificant eventuality if you're exceptionally intelligent.
Yes, Intelligence is different to Wisdom. Yes, to be smart does not infer you are also wise... But being smart does open the gateway to being wise; they go hand in hand more often than they conflict. The same can be said of any life pursuit, even raw physical activity. I use my strength more efficently; knowing as I do the mechanics of physical functions.

Intelligence is more than how fast one can complete a test or read a book, and it's certainly not measured by academics. Intelligence affects and assists EVERYTHING in life. With it, you can accomplish the simplest OR the most complex of tasks; you can accomplish anything within the realm of concievable possibility ^_^

i dont think you should think of yourself as less smart- at all. i sent an email to one of my old friends, a psychology phd instructor, and i learnt a couple of things:
IQ measurement criteria is contrived to have a mean of about 100 and a standard deviation of about 15. Less than 0.4% of the population has an IQ > 140. which means since 68% lie within 1 standard deviation of the mean- you lie in that group- pretty smart. That doesnt make you less smart at all.

But of course there are a lot of of faux-IQ tests out there-as Named mentioned earlier. And although it is not known that Albert Einstein actually took an IQ test, his IQ is estimated to be a little above 160, even Galileo Galilea is ranked a little higher than him(how ironic- right?. In Galileo's time IQ tests hadnt been established).

and take comfort in the fact that, some of the highest IQs around are shared among geniuses and often "crazy"/autistic people.

You see, although IQ is a good delimiter of intelligence, at times it doesnt predict how successful and happy your life will be.

Well... That is difficult to say. A real IQ test is broken down into many parts, which test the various regions of thought, like pattern recognition, mathematical aplitude etc etc. These online tests are usually 30 minutes at most, and that's... Laughable *_* I fail to see how they can accurately measure -anything- with so little information gathered. The results might as well be "Awesome" versus "Not cool, man"

PERHAPS someone with a score of 200 on one of these tests is smarter than another who scored 100, but I wouldn't give any credit to them for it. 'Cause it could also have been chance ^_^

If you get lucky with some hard questions, the score rises significantly but is not reliable anymore.

Many nights I have been bored, and have spent time drizzling through the various IQ tests. I have battled each one feriously, like the rebel alliance at Hoth. To no avail did I find myself, until I went out, to the real world for a standardized American IQ test.

Thanks for reading my epiloge there. Anyways, the highest I've gotten online is 152, the lowest a 108. Basically, most IQ tests online aren't going to give you a good enough answer to go join in a Mensa group. The one test I took that was a 'real' IQ test, I got a 145.

For the people that say, "If you're a genious, why aren't you in a specialized school?" you are being ignorant. Our worldly status of genious, is derived by knowledge, but not by acedemic know how. There have been Savants that scored over 200, but couldn't order a burger. It all depends upon what you're level of understanding is of the acedemic circle you fall into. Most schools for the gifted, fall under the category of 'Advanced Learning Capacity' meaning they move at a faster pace, but do little to no schoolwork. Something you'll find that the writers of Naruto did quite well on, is the smartest people tend to be lazy.

The hardworking on the other hand, don't require the same genious as some to accell. Since they depend on their acedemic prowess less, they intuitively work themselves to exhaustion, perfecting everything, making themselves better by comparison. Employers look for these type of people, rather than the genious because of this nature.

Personally, I've had opprotunities to go ahead into 'advanced' learning twice. I however refused the offering, because of the type of discardment it places you in. You are reduced to a mental capacity of nill, focusing your mind on quantom theoretical behaviours, leading you into a mental mush. You have no life, and simply can not function in a normal social environment. I hang out a lot with those kinds of kids, they are not fun, trust me.
