i went to new york and i saw some dudes selling dvds on the street
i peeked over and i saw v for vendetta
and i knew it was a real copy cuz in korea, my homestay had the same kind of dvds and he already had the movie Troy when it was still in theatres
is this stuff illegal?

those are like copys of the oroginal or someone who filmed the premieres. I got a friend who won tickets to see the 3rd star wars before the premiere, like the edition for the news paper quote and all, I don't know how he did, but he filmed it and put it on dvds that he was selling secretly to friends and everything, He He! He gave me one free because I was his best friend.

and in korea i saw the matrix revolutions dvd and it wasn't that bad for quality (bad movie tho)
frick my homestay had like 100 dvds too

i think it is important to notice the police about it
i mean the movie business worked hard on making the movie and spends millions of dollars making the movie and then they just sell it on dvd for like 10 bux when it's till in theateres

These DVDs are very popular in developing countries in the East...you'll find them in every city, on streets/shops... new ones can cost less then 5 bucks in USD.

Piracy has long been a serious issue...

Oh, Come on dude, Here in Mexico there's Pirate DVD's and CD's everywhere, and I mean, Everywhere, I could just go out right now and find Pirate CD's/DVD's just a couple of blocks away from my house... But the quality sucks tho, so that's why I never buy that.

i downloaded movies in movie theatre and you can see like people moving around and the camera shaking, SO ANNOYING
and the most annoying part is when someone farts in the middle of the movie even though you are actually watching by yourself

First of all, both are illegal (in the US), so there is no point in thinking positive. I prefer thinking the negative anyway. So no, I'm not going to see it the "positive way." :P

I think buying it would be WORSE because then you are supporting those piraters. Downloading a movie is only for personal gain.

despite this though... i don't bother with morals on this piracy stuff and whatnot.

the reason i buy the official disks still is because
1) the pirated movies... usually have BAD QUALITY
2) i like owning originals :D

They should.....but the police would rather go after the supplier....it's all about who's bigger in the food chain. The guy who buys one dvd, or the one who sells 1000 dvds. Wouldn't you rather cut off the seller rather than one buyer? now, if you can get both of them, then go for it, but I don't think police will waste the manpower......besides, Narcotics is more important. They use the same concept in Narcotics also. They're always trying to catch the biggest fish. They're willing to let go of the smaller fish to get the bigger fish ......

The largest problem lies within demand... if you buy an additional pirated movie or video game, you'll make the producers lose that certain amount motivation to continue doing their stuff. and like WWF always sezs..."if the buying stops, so would the killing."

If you really like the movie or video game, show your support by buying the original. Respect intellectual property I say... though I admit I used to pirate alot... XD

besides, if you really want to watch it, wouldn't the wait be worth more if you actually watch it on the big screen and enjoy every second of it, instead of watching a really blurry and weird sounding version? Besides, it's also fun pushing people to get the last copy at blockbusters :)

Piracy is illegal everywhere (even here), but Mexican cops just don't care about it, I once even asked a cop where to buy pirate DVD's and the happily answered me :|

And anyway, even if we do have a lot of Illegal DVD's here, I still prefer the originals for what NarutoIZZAbest just said :wink:

Most people in Australia get get their pirated DVDs from overseas, in Thailand. It's funny reading the synopsis' of some of the pirated DVDs on the covers. For example a pirated Matrix DVD, had a lunch menu on the back cover instead of the synopsis.

haha in my case dling ... i have dial-up.. so it'd really be a pain to get them off the internet. i'd probably have to stay online for a day and a half or so... maybe longer :lol:

Ummm... Yes, there would. Many forms of piracy operate entirely without the internet. Not for display, not for transfer, not even for advertisement.
