People blame the industrialization of the world on this. The release of CO and CO2- etc etc. with the way every poor country is looking to be like America(even if their governments tend not to admit it)- i dont see this problem ending soon.

one way to reduce its effects is reduce the concentration of these pollutants that contribute to global warming. and that means more research and development into better methods of combustion in eg cars, stricter regulations on gaseous effluents from factories, etc etc

this problem is really a big issue. it really is. but of course unless a major crisis occurs because of this our daily habits will be to ignore it- right?

People only act when trouble is around the corner, governments all around the world should, right about now, be more proactive espeacially in environmental issues.

Thats what I like about New Zealand's environmental policies, they keep their environments in a tight close watch, strict regulations, tough rules and they react to the slightest sign of environmental trouble. They get prepared for even the disaster which have a minute posibility of happening.

It is a natural event but humans make it happen faster then they should, they should only happen every 1 million years and the last one was 10,000 years ago because after global warming comes it is followed by a ice age and many scientist believe that if this trend continuous the ice age will come in 50 years(I will be old so I dont care) the problem is that alot of bad weather will happen that will cause alot of problems

Before I realized that I hated the sciences, I did a bit of research on Global Warming and Greenhouse gases. Basically, by the end of our lifetimes, the planet's overall climate will change, but we shouldn't see any real life threatning changes for awhile yet. However, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be environmentally conscious. The worst thing is that it isnt that hard, we just have a lifestyle that promotes over consumption. I.e. The United States + S.U.V'ing soccer moms. Even if we could implement the Kyoto accord, that would be extremely beneficial. However, governments, especially the United States government, seem to have a very short term view right now. This outlook only leads to the eventual downfall of the shortterm goals that are being accomplished with large consequences to be paid in the long run. For example: the national debt is outof control right now, putting great strain on the American economy. If the United States economy fails, this will in turn damage just about every other state's economy significantly(especially Canada who trades primarily with the States). Overall, we suck,

Exactly. Well humans are a self destructive race (how many of you have ever gotten drunk, for example) and unfortunately as technology has improved so has our ability to ruin Earth. To the governments and peoples of the world, namely the first world countries(aka USA) oil is like a drug. They know its going to destroy everything eventually but they just can't get enough.

Someone mentioned something about the U.N. Unfortunately, the U.N has no real authority. About all the U.N can do is place sanctions on some countries, but realistically, if you are the United States and the U.N Security Council says "stop ruining everything" you are going to take those billions of dollars you give the U.N. and put it back in your pocket. The United States will never listen to what the U.N. has to say, if Iraq is any indicator.
The saying is, "To the victor go the spoils" and well, america is certainly winning, and therefore theyve got all the money and the control. However, the balance of power is starting to change (China and India = next superpowers), but everyone still has a hopeless addiction to Oil.

I guess it depends on where you live! But yes, climates are getting messed up for sure, ie. last year in kingston ontario, our winter was very warm in comparison to our normal winters.
