The best info gathering group imo would be Team Kurenai. Team Asuma has always been more of a support group. They'd be deadly if they got paired up with a hard hitting group like Team Gai, or Team Kakashi.

And yes, Ino is a Genjutsu specialist, like Sakura she's best as a backlines support person. She's able to immobilize and disable the enemy so that the rest of her team (namely Chouji) can take them down.
