Nintendo to launch Pokemon amusement park

TOKYO (AFP) - Japan's Nintendo will launch a travelling amusement park later this year with rides based on Pokemon characters, starting in Taiwan.

The Pokemon theme park will open in Taipei for a three-month run from June, aiming to draw a total of one million visitors, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun said Saturday in its evening edition.

The Nintendo group is considering moving the park later to the United States, Europe and Shanghai, the economic daily added.

The ubiquitous Pokemon characters, originally developed by Nintendo for its "Game Boy" machine, have been made into a television animation series aired in 70 countries and regions.

The Pokemon park was temporarily built last year in the central Japanese city of Nagoya to coincide with the World Exposition held for six months to September. It drew 4.5 million visitors during its half-year run.

Nintendo officials could not be reached to confirm the report.

lol i hate such people, last time i was in "warner brothers movieworld"in germany, me and my friends kicked tweety :p.. we annoyed bgs bunny and stuff.

And dont get me wrong its not that we acctually hurt these people, cause that is not who i am. We just did it for fun, and the guys/girls in the costumes knew that...

I heard of this a year ago. This will be a goldmine, since alll the kids grew up watching famous animes like pokemon, yugioh, dragonball z,gt,etc.

If they turned it into a serious amusement park it could have potential. :shock: I can see a water park area with a big pool with a giant water-spewing Blastoise in the middle. A Charizard roller coaster. A haunted mansion with those ghost pokemon, I think one of them is called Ghastly. But if it's a travelling amusement park than it'll probably be lame.

You know I agree with you there, I use to play the games. I mean the games were actually quite fun and easy to pick up and play, the anime on the other hand....I would have been happy if it would have just want off the air here in Iceland. Thankfully its not on has much anymore and most little kids here kinda completely forgot it.
