User Titles, where have they gone?

A long time ago, in a forum not so far away there was a thing called User Titles. These titles helped show the number of posts a member had, by giving them a special title when they reached a specific number of posts...

Then H-chan attacked, and the titles were deleted. They have never come back.

Where are the user titles? Will they come back? Or have they been sentenced to the cold abyss of deletion? Wherever they go, I hope they realize that there are some among us who still cherish their memory.

But seriously, is there any reason why the User Titles haven't been restored? I know some people think they encourage spamming, but I haven't noticed much of a difference since they were taken away. And I think that if the gap between them was widened, they'd be taken a bit more seriously... so here's my proposal.

0-50 Civilian
51-199 Academy Student
200-499 Genin
500-999 Chuunin
1000-1999 Jounin
2000-3999 Sannin
4000+ Kage

I think people actually likes custom titles more so than Hokage... post caps are the way to go. And if mods can consistently enforce spamming rules, we shouldn't worry much about about spammers.

I would think that if this idea were to go ahead, that the admins would give the site an update. So that users could be free to change there titles themselves. Maybe this site needs an update...

@Mousie: why would you want to people not to think they're on the same level as the mods, I like to think the mods are regular posters that just help to keep the forum in one piece. And I don't think ppl would go crazy with power just because of a custom title...

It's not to be greedy, it is purely that THIS is how people identify the moderators. Giving them to non-moderators would lead to all sorts of noobish mistakes and errors and confusion.

Besides. It's not like people can't strive to be qualified as a moderator eventually anyway. In many ways, a mod title *is* an honorific one, and I don't want one of our main 'rewards' to be cheapened by spamming. (no offense, but even Raistlin knows he mostly got that high on posts by spamming :P)

Giving higher lookign ranks for more posts seems to encourage spam.

Personally I say keep the system somewhat simillar to the top above however to those who have been around and those who put in more worthwile post rather than monger up get the option of getting their own special rank, been on other forums taht do this, thought it was pretty sweet

Why does it take 500 posts to get from rank 1 to rank 2, but only 250 to get from rank 2 to rank 3? Shouldn't it be the other way around? 0-249 = Academy Student and 250-749 = Genin?

It would be really cool if we could get a store like some forums have. They do it so you can buy things like custom titles, no time delay between posts, diff skins, etc. You get points to buy those things by posting, making new topics, making new polls, and lose points if your thread is locked, post is merged, etc.

It would take alot of work for zafar though, but it'd be awesome to have eventually.

Look. The post numbers for ranks are higher due to the fact that there are a bit more posters in the 1,000s. This is because of how long this forum has been up.

I was a bit iffy about the Academy to Gennin part, but later decided to have it at 500, simply because I took a look at our post counts and the general public are pretty close to the 500's.

If you guys are going to argue about the ranks after we've put them up, we might as well take them down again. I'm trying to assign ranks according to post counts befitting the actual forum (thus taking into consideration of how long the forum's been up and how many posters there are, etc.) and so I'm not surprised that they don't fit some of your general wants.

Yes, everyone is gonna want the post counts lowered for every rank, but really, what is the point of having titles if everyone is going to get Hokages in a couple months? Are we gonna input higher ranks after that then? Should we start putting in ranks like "one-tail" and "two-tail" and so on?

Sorry if I come off sounding like a hardass, but it's somewhat difficult to meet everyone's demands about the forum.

Anbu (as far as i can remember from watching naruto) is indeed not a rank. Its a "organisation" formed by chuunin and jounin that do special missions. Its not a rank, its a job.
