Well, check this from Leafninja.com:
Has a mouth on the palm of each hand, An artist at heart, Deidara's gender is not 100% known
So I'd say many ppl at leafninja.com aren't convinced either.. And yes, I do have my reasons.

- Deidara's hair looks like a girl's
- I have yet to see anything where Deidara (herefrom 'it') refer to itself as specifically a male or a female...
- REMEMBER HAKU! I wouldn't make assumptions since Kishimoto played us up with him O.o
