what the hell is ichigo's father doing as a shinigami??and hans't ichigo been in major thight spots and his father didn't come to his aid.i think the author just made him a shinigami to try and make the story more intresting.they better have some background information on him to clear things up.

that is from the very first volume and is a drawing/collage that kubo did. now if you look at the far right you will see that the vaizard guy is in there. so he had to have had the story developed at least to that point.

oh and another thing if you go back and re watch or re read he never actually calls ichigo by his name when kon is in his body. he says hey you. or something else. i think that was actually explained at one point though. its just little hints. also if you re watch youll see like awkward expressions on his face when hollows are around.

well about ishin being a shinigami...i do not no much about it but its kinda weird...if ishin was a shinigami AND captain level also y didnt anyone respond back to ichigos last name(kinda thinkin like the royal family thing^^) and could be a possibility that ishin changed his last name but also they did talk about uruha(GAH MISSPELL~!) disapperance and they couldve talked about ishin's dissapperance...lots of confusing stuff o.o last thing is taht u cant see ishin around the 1st ch when the hollow started to attack ishigo's house...well..thats just a theory so just ignore me...*sits on a corner*

a thought about the first episode too, that spirit power that overwhelms rukia. remember she doesnt feel that when shes in the room with ichigo.... hang on :P

what could have happened then was isshin decided to have a pop at the hollow but wasnt as equipped since it had been years since combat and he was in a gigai...or one of uruharas dodgy gigais. most likely the latter because it makes him more human thus having children.

also another fact brought up from bleach forums. the time of masaki's death. remember that bit in chapter 25 (i think) when isshin says "its been x years since she died" and then ichigo corrects him, although isshins expression doesnt change...

maybe a plot hole there, only (kind-of) person we can believe to be born in soul society is byakuya, since his parents died in soul society. or we can still use the idea that isshin fell in love with masaki who was still human.

i agree there must be children born in soul society, only what is the child thats born. is it just part of the parents soul or an individual being altogether?

I don't think they can have children there, also it doesn't seem logical. My guess is they adopt them, just like Rukia.

About Ichigo's dad, he seems familiar with Urahara(sp?). I guess they go way back, and with the comming evil I'm pretty sure we'll find out more soon.

it's agains't the rules to adopt somebody into a noble family and you can't keeo adopting ppl over and over the family would kick your ass out.i think they can have kids wouldn't make sense to marry ppl you can't have kids with.or is it just for the sex..?

Heres my answer ichigos dad isnt a actual shingami like ichigo just trained or givin shingami powers by Uruhara.Uruhara probaly found him mourning his wifes death and helpped gain him ability to exact his revenge on hollows.thay makes sense to me! 8) Yo!

uh I'm fairly sure ichigo's dad is a shinigami in the fullest sense of the word. Because in his conversation with Urahara, Urahara remarked that ichigo's dad had lost a lot of power from before. It just seemed like a conversation between old friends. Also ichigo's dad is at captain level. I don't think that just anybody can reach that.

I got an idea for u, ishin(sp?) was the first successfull shinigami to go hollow and controll it and thats how he knows urahara ALSO since he is so strong maybe hes the leader of the Vizard and he just wants to see if his son will be accepted by the other before revealing himself. hows that sound..

u can say that again. Whatever the case i like the idea that ichigo doesnt know that his father has these powers instead just being an average joe(normal human). he will be really surprised when his father suddenly pops up in a fight to lend a hand- just imagine all the questions and how crazy ichigo will become- where was he when ichigos mum died, all the actions ichigo had to take to protect the family and the karakura town-

i cant wait for that moment and when that moment willbe - will it be at when the final battle with aizens armada begins or what?

this was also explained after ichigo beat Him he said it was because he swore never to break the rules again on his parents grave so it isn't a loop hole. Aizen was aslo explained his sword allows him to hypnotize people to believe anything he wants them to see.

umm there's no proff that ichigo's dad is as strong as a captains he may just be uraharra's vice-captain and he escaped withhim and yourichi to the human world and just settled down but it seem slike his father was too late to save his wife and decidded to never use his shinigami powers ever again and knew what was going on with ichigo and rukia and just never stepped in.and maybe even knew about uraharra's device and just let ichigo go to soul society and let ichigo be his own man and do what ever.but there is still alot of unanwsered questions

Sorry for the off-topicness.
I thought the concept of Ichigo's father now showing that he's a Sharingami was very intersting. He's caught my eye now, he looks really strong since he beat that guy really fast >.<. At the same I thought it was kind of sad how the creators rushed to show that Ichigo's dad was Sharingami, they should have probably put it at the point where Ichigo and Soul Society fights the Arrancars and Aizen.

it's not there were originaly 5 noble families...kuchikki(sp),the others aren't really named but that fat Vc guy from the 2nd divison he's in one of the low level noble familes,yourichi was in a noble family,and i think soi fong is in a low level noble family that protects yourichi's noble family.and the fifth one is shiba but they fell but are still respected.

but yea i didn't like how ichigo's father was introduced t first and i wasn't feeling his swagger for a min but i got use to it.

Mabey ichigo's dad is the king of soul society and thats how he stays hidden by acting liek he's a human. He's really good at hiding his reiatsu that he has gone unnoticed by hollows and new shinigamis INCLUDING his son ichigo! Sorry if someone has already mentioned that but i didnt read this entire thread. I hope Ichigo stays seperate from soul society that makes it much more interesting then the whole army-type organization of soul society.

ichigo's dad was a captin (probably), and when ichigos mom died his dad gave up feeling that he was no good anymore, took a gigis from urahara, changed his name and now lives on earth.

oh and before taking gigis he resigned from ss army

Ichigo's dad lost his shinigami powers when he helped urahara and yorouichi escape to the human world, he has been in a gigai ever since, he just recently regained his powers...ishida's father made the comment that "your powers have returned" and the reason everyone is weird about ichigo's looks is because ichigo looks like shiba kaien except for the different hair colour, and ichigo's dad is captain strength so he can easily hide his reiatsu...actually the three of them where captain, ishiin,kisuke and yorouichi...
