Summoning (Kuchiyose)

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any theories (based on what we already know) on how the whole summoning thing works.. I mean... We've already seen a broad range of frogs and snakes summoned by Jiryaya and Orochimaru respectivley... What determines which frog/snake they will summon? Why can't Naruto summon any of the easier frogs (it's always Gama Bunta the Boss)? Also it seems that Kagashi has a contract with the dogs. So far we've seen him summon the dogs that grappled Zabuza and also Pakun. I wonder if there is a Dog Boss as well just like (Manda, Gama Bunta and whatever that slug's name is) Then The 3rd summons that Money king, I wonder how many sets of animals can be summoned.. Where do they come from, where are they when not summoned? Do they all live in a parallel universe or something? Any useful input would be appricieted as my curiousity is bugging me.. thx...

as for what decides which one of say the frogs come out, is the amount of chakra used in the technique. naruto cant summon gama bunta unless he uses kyuubi cause naruto is so young. as for where they come from and where they go, it hasnt been said so no one knows yet
