You will need to write a fan fiction about Naruto. It can be a funny story, sad story, etc. I will lay down some rules.

1. Must be original (no copy of someone elses work).
2. One submission per person.
3. Your story ABSOLUTELY CANNOT have anything to do with the real story. You can use other characters from Naruto though.
4. I will pick the best 5 and have members vote for the winners.
5. Since it could be publicly viewed, it must contain no spoilers beyond the current episode of Naruto (talking about the manga further ahead is considered spoiling).
6. You can include pictures, but your submission cannot be greater than 50 KB, or it's disqualified automatically.

You can use naruto characters, and your own characters, but you cannot use the same plot as naruto has.

Keep in mind it has to be under 50kb.

u know what people do when they come online- right? people come online, check the new posts made and dive into those that interests them. With soo many posts the chances of someone getting into fanfiction are very slim, except maybe those of us who patronize this section and like reading some of the fictions.

the best way to get peoples attention and participation in such a venture will be to really make the thread and contest aware to everyone. u get what i mean? Like ask one of the mods to put your contest as a headline for everyone to see and read when they enter the site. Otherwise you aint gonna get no contestants.

we need things like this to make the site really alive- very good idea too.

This contest should be revived. It's a great idea and I like it.

The only thing we need is judges that have time to read all the fanfics that are included in the contest.

"We can just have people vote", the thing is .. Every judge have to read every fanfic that's participating in the contest. Let's say that there's 5 people participating. Every fanfic is atleast 5 Chapters long, maybe a lot longer. We can't have just any people, we have to have judges we know will read them all. They can't just read one, they have to read all of them and rate them, that's the problem. Who can be a judge and read ALL the participating fanfics?

I say max 3 contestans (Spelling?) every contest.

That could work, what if we did this:

4 participants, the contest goes on 3-4 weeks.

First week you write one chapter, we have to have a min. character length though. Then the judges vote for the one they think is the best (of course) and the one with the least votes is out. Then next week they write one more chapter, if they had a slow start they can make a comeback now. Ones again the one with the least votes is out. The third week there'll only be two left. They both write 1-2 chapters and the judges decide which one is best overall.

also, themes is a problem... so here's what a suggest:

we create one line and each writer MUST incorporate that line into their story, with a degree of significance... so they are free to write what they want, but that one line must be somewhere in their story and must play a relativly decent part in the story (and it must make sense of course!)

You mentioned that before too, I like it. We should have more than one though.. Or we could vote a theme, like the SOTW does. We should add a poll in this thread, Aren't you one of the moderators on this section? Add a poll with those two options:
1. Each writer MUST incorporate one (Or more) line/s we've decided.
2. Theme, writers must write about the theme that has been voted.

Man, are you saying that everyone should vote? I can't agree with that. It's easy for someone to just vote without reading the fanfic you know, and if one of the participants are good friends with any voters there's a big possibility that s/he'll vote for him.

Yeah, 3 seems like it's just not enough, I also think finding 2 more would be a good idea.

I actually wish I could kind of enter this contest but:
1. I can't write short fics that well
2. Have to work on my own fanfictions
3. Haven't even had time to work on my fanfictions in the first place, too much school. Can't wait till the wonderful summer of sleeping till 2 P.M. and lazy sunlit afternoons.

But I would defnitly have enough time to judge, especially if you guys put a word limit on these fics.

If you read/write fanfics, and not just really rarely, then yes you should easily be applicable to judge.

That's what I say. El Naruto from what I see you do read fanfics (at least the ones on here) and seem good enough to be a judge, so I also have no problem with it.
