Naruto got put into genjutsu just by the flicker of Itachi's finger. In a flash back the sennin was telling naruto that there are two ways of breaking out of genjutsu. One is to basically overwhelm your system with a burst of your own chakra and the other is to get someone else to stream chakra through your system (if you should fail to do it yourself).

Hate on me later, but I thought it was a great chapter. Yes it was light, but look at what it contained. It focused on just one fight compared to the last few chapters that were split, it showed a glimpse of what Naruto learned from Jiraiya, Naruto shows progress, Itachi notices progress, Naruto has still yet to show his true progression.

Well, the first burst of chakra was his own chakra. If you notice hes still got his eyes then. I think when he got hit by the "Shuriken", he realized he was gonna need more and started tapping into Kyuubi (the eyes changed), but then Itachi screwed him over just before he could.

myeah so basicly naruto could end any genjutsu by releasing some kyuubi chakra... atleast that is theory i got :)

Anyway, I was wondering...why did both Sakura and the Old Lady go back to dispel the Genjutsu? For someone of Itachi's strength, youd think that Kakashi would need 1 person to help him out to hold him off. Im guessing that Itachi's genjutsu is strong enough that it required 2 people to dispel it. Im also thinking that Kakashi hasn't held off Itachi for oh so long, but rather they were all fighting him and then they noticed Naruto so 2 of them went back to dispel it quickly while Kakashi held off Itachi for that short amount of time.

plus itachis genjutsus are instantaneous, they were probably lucky to break naruto out of it before he got emotionally drained like kakashi did in the first itachi encounter. so in other words its only still a fe seconds into the match

the leaf guy is probably just a member of the group who specializes in spying or recon work. also, all of the members of akatsuki have rings and it looked like itachi used his index finger to activate the genjutsu when he pointed at naruto and the ring is not on his index finger.

Few things to remember, Itachi has his shadow clone back with the others and is using what is probably a good chunk of his energy there to help with the big Jitsu they are doing.

Also in the chapter Itachi says he can't use his main eye GenJitsu he used on Kakashi, Which should also = that he can't use that black fire Jitsu he used to break out of the Perverted hermits frog gut trap.

I don't think much time has passed in the "real" world since Naruto got caught in the GenJitsu, When Kakashi was caught in one it seemed like days had taken place but in reality it was only a few seconds.

Yea more than likely naruto wasn't acutally caught in the Genjutsu for very long. But I do think that Kakashi can hold his own against itachi. After there first encounter he realized how there were ninja's way stroger than him out there. He knew that he got lazy and weak in the times of peace but i'm sure he trained just as hard as anybody else in the last two and a half years.
I highly doubt that the plant guy is just using a jutsu to make it seem like he's Itachi because that would be lame and itachi doesn't seem like someone to have others fight his battles for him. The outcome of this fight is pretty clear to me now. Somehow I get the feeling naruto won't be fooled by the same move twice now. Also with Itachi not be able to use the Mangenkyou due the the fact that he needs all his enery for the summon jutsu puts team 7 in a very advantageous position.

I don't think it took Sakura and the old lady. It was probably a "Eh, Naruto, you paying attention?" type of deal. Naruto wasn't so they snapped him out of it. It doesn't say that they dispelled the jutsu but the picture sure does look like it. I'm pretty sure Naruto would've been able to get out of it somehow but then again, thats what friends are for.

People aren't saying Itachi is weaker. It's just that he's distributed some of his chakra to his kage bunshin, he can't use his Mangekyou Sharingan, AND Kakashi has gotten (presumably) way stronger. Therefore, he's not as invincible as he used to be.

I think he might've tapped kyuubi to overcome Itachi's jutsu/chakra with a greater chakra flow instantly. Since Naruto has two types of chakra's and Jiraiya stated two options; stop your chakra flow or overcome it with an even greater power. Naruto went for the greater power. Not full blown mind you, or he would've snapped the jutsu instantly and stunned them all. The instant increase also forced Itachi to increase his focus on the genjutsu.

Exactly what I was going to say. If its Genjutsu, Naruto isn't really looking into Itachi's eyes. In fact, only Kakashi is fighting the real(?) Itachi so it wouldn't make sense for Naruto to be hit with Mangekyou by a fake Itachi.

ok theres a difference between knowing a technique and mastering a technique. that was shown when naruto tried to master the rasengan. all that occured was a spiral with uncontrolable force which in actuality would do little good against an opponent. and then theres the mastered form which is a highly condenced vortex of chakara. so if itachi went rasengan v rasengan agains naruto or chidori v chidori against kakashi he probably would lose cause he wouldnt have the experience with either of the techniques. now some will argue that "kakashi pulled it off perfectly against zabuza" and thats true i wont argue that point but chances are that kakashi has practiced or seen those techniques before and had become at least proficient with them. in short theres a difference between knowing and mastering a technique.

I think of it more as one is a jutsu using seals and the other is a learned/acquired jutsu. I commented on something like this before in another thread. Sharingan to me is a cheap copying machine which is why I hope Naruto learned other learned/acquired jutsu like shushin no jutsu! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Its not just any one we are talking about here its itachi.his sharingan can copy even the most difficult of techniques with perfection, imean even his seal forming is so quick it cannot be seen.so i doubt its a question of practicing the rasengan.i think the creaters just dont want him to be too poweful thats why he never copies the uber stuff

Yea, it allows them to copy the technique and learn it... not necessarily use it. Some techniques require physical training (such as Naruto's training for the rasengen) which means they can't be copied easily...

Most ninjutsu require two thing, hand seals and chakra. That makes it easily copied by the Sharingan, assuming the user has enough chakra he can mirror the enemy. And use their techniques.

But in the case of Taijutsu or specialty moves like the Rasengan. The user also needs to have the proper strength, or control. Which is much harder to get.

Its called "Sharingan!"
So Kakashi actually developed a means to combat the Mangekyou Sharingan from the last time he got hit with it. When Itachi tries a last ditch effort to subdue Naruto with it and run, Kakashi runs in to counter it. Itachi's Mangekyou is strong, though, so Kakashi takes one for the team :cry: but at least Naruto survives while Itachi has to run after using too much chakra. However, since both Kisame and Itachi are weak and they go back to finish Gaara off before Gai's team and (former) Kakashi's team arrive to avenge both Gaara and Kakashi.

Next issue "Konoha vs Akatsuki"

Dude, you totally forgot to mention that the seventh Hokage is the apprentice to the great great great grandson of the leader of the Akatsuki who is the Fourth Hokage (a.k.a. Obito in disguise). His "jawbreaker no jutsu" is a secret ability passed down from Obito when Obito learned it with his intensive "Crushed one-eye Sharingan" training. Since just about half his body was crushed, he had to learn how to fight with just his mouth, creating a deadly ability capable of utterly destroying Itachi. This is seriously clutch. :shock:

Here's my theory

kakashi says "how bad have your eyes gotten"
itachi then has shocked expression and says "kakashi, you couldn't have..."
kakashi then replies with something like how he's not that shabby of a ninja

This leads me to think that in the previous encounter, kakashi secretly did something to itachi's eyes. Since then, itachi's eyes have gotten worse and worse. He never realized it was kakashi that did that until now when kakashi made the comment. In this chapter, Itachi says that he can't use mangekyo sharingan right now. This is further support that something is wrong with his eyes. Kakashi seems to be very confident against Itachi this time, which may be because he knows Itachi's weakness.

I think it's because as a Sharingan user, Kakashi knows its weaknesses. We know that the Sharingan uses a great deal of chakra, for natural Uchihas this is lessened a bit, but in the case of the Mangekyou, which Itachi likes to use. It probably requires a large amount of chakra...

All that chakra channeled through the eyes can't be healthy.

Too much chakra through the eyes = unhealthy? It's possible, but unlikely. Medical ninjas know how to channel large amounts of chakra to their wounds to heal them. Naruto's mass amounts of kyuubi chakra helps him heal ridiculously fast. I think the fact that a lot of chakra is running through a part of the body can only help, not hurt it. Opening gates don't count since the large flow of chakra stresses the muscles of your body. There's no reason that sharingan should be stressing the eye muscles. Chakra is focused there to help with certain ninja techniques. It's not like sharingan makes the eyes move all over the place really fast and stressing the muscles. Neji's defense uses a lot of chakra, but it doesn't stress his palms just because so much chakra runs through it.

As for itachi's eyes...why would there be no mention of it in his 10 yrs of having the mangekyou and then over the period of 3 yrs, his eyes are so bad he has trouble seeing.

Yea, but Naruto got Chakra burn when he was practicing Rasengan. I'd think that using the mangekyou would be unhealthy. It's like jewelers who spend large amounts of time looking at tiny little things, eventually when you have to strain your eyes over and over again, your vision starts to go.

Or Kakashi could have been refering to something else. I'm not sure.
