First off, let me say that I am not a DBZ hater. I respect all anime/manga for what they are and have no place belittling an Anime until I can come up with my own world-popular idea/show. I am sure that DBZ has had an effect on bringing Anime a little closer to the forefront in the U.S. Also, I recognize DBZ as the show (on Cartoon Network) that introduced me to the world of Anime. Since then, I have broadened my horizons (a bit) and found other Anime that suited my tastes a little better than DBZ. I started to lose track/get bored with the whole thing when Namek's puke-green sky made me depressed everyday and the 5 minutes it took Namek to blow up was dragged out through two grueling weeks of pointlessly long shows. It was a nice run for DBZ, about 5 or 6 years in a prime spot for cartoon viewing. Over those years it has held its own in ratings, spawned a decently successful video game franchise (here in the States, Japan is a different story) and even topped internet searches year after year. However, now that the monotonous Buu Saga is long since completed (twice) and the series has ended (story-wise) one would think it wise to bow DBZ to another time-slot (perhaps saturday nights; yes I know) or take it off-air entirely, thus freeing up time to air another anime new to U.S. viewers. Instead, much to my chagrin, it appears DBZ is still going strong. Not only has the Freeza Saga restarted, thus restarting another run of a billion episodes of sceaming, golden-haired, uber-dudes on Toonami, but saturday will now carry a time-slot of DBZ a la Rising Sun days, AND Toonami will start airing even God damn more DBZ movies. I pray that this is only to keep up DBZ interest for the upcoming Budokai video game installment, and will thus end after the holiday season. If not, then something is seriously wrong with Cartoon Network (as if that wasn't apperant already). I wonder if CN executives have ever seen Old Yeller? Stop the pain, CN, put all parties involved out of their misery and remove DBZ.

Okay they shouldn't re-use Dbz over and over again. But on the other hand. Dragonball Z was the reason why I got interested in Anime. I think that goes for a lot of us. But coming ot the end of dbz and the Buu saga I really got bored of it. It's just something with Dbz that makes it hard to watch a second, let alone a third time. But still, u can't complain. The only Animes i've ever been able to watch is Dbz, Samurai X and Gundam Wing. I'm not gonna begin talk about stuff like Pokémon, Digimon and beyblade (even Yu-Gi-Oh), cause that just ain't quality anime... let's hope things will change in the future in our little monkey-country called Belgium. And I ain't planning to pay for cartoon network unless they can give me some qualtiy time.

I hate the fact that everyone hates Yu-Gi-Oh! The only reason it sucks is because 4Kids dubbed it, and cut out the whole first season so they could influence the stupid card craze for the kiddies. And Now I hear 4Kids is dubbing Shaman King next week, and they're changing half the names? God I hate 4Kids. Also, I totally respect your opinion, I just read and watched the Japanese version of YGO, and it's alot better.

I got hooked on Anime a Vey long time ago, being 37 I got to see some of the early Astro Boy stuff as well as a show called Prince Planet, in my teens I watched Star Blazers & Battle of the Planets.
I was happy to see DBZ make such an impact in the US, it helped bring Anime into the mainstream. However I have only seen a handful of DBZ episodes & although I thought it was pretty cool it isn't something I could watch on a regular basis, I prefer to read the manga.
I have to agree, that CN should put it to pasture at least for awhile, there are so many good shows they could be putting on the air in its place.
yeah..they could put naruto on there! on second thought.... maybe the licence poeple would ruin naruto by changing the names and jutsus and stuff...i would hate that...imagine Harem no Jutsu being called Harem Technique....it just doesnt sound as great...know what i mean?

what about Dragonball GT the third installment of the dragon ball series. and as long as people are watching dragonball it will continue playing. just cause a few people that watch other animes and can afford to buy stuff off the shelf, have "broadened their horizons" doesnt mean that everyone else doesnt like it still. i love dragon ballz i watch one of the movies at least once a week. i never watched cartoon network cause if the chop job funimation did to Dragonball series tanslation.

I NEVER liked any of the Dragon Ball series, I found them all totally ridiculous. I fell in love with Reign first, and since then I have only dedicated my time to well made interesting animes, which I believe DB to not be.

Well i agree with wolfwood, but hey it's States. All cartoon Network is trying to do is milk every penny out of a pennyless series they can. Look at all the other stuff that cartoon network has put out. From the Powerpuff Girls to dexter. The only reason why they would stop the episode makinig is because it wasnt popular anymore. And i know that DBZ is another story, but cartoon nework network, fox, you name it. there are trying to get the most money that they can.

i can understand... and also agree* they over extended the series making it dull... if you know that there's gonna be a major fight scene... i'd wait for a week or two.. then finaly watch it again to skipp all the bull

Still agree. Naruto may end up being just as long, but at least the story rolls along smothly. It would take Goku a whole season to defeat an enemy where as Naruto takes 2 episodes :!:

yup! even if its just bull.... i'd still take time to watch it still, because then you learn more about somebody's history.. that's whats so good about Naruto
