In one of the very early episodes didn't they say that Naruto had failed the academy for 3 years in a row or something in that area? This has bugged me since I first started watching, does this mean that Naruto is much older than his peers? or did he just start earlier?

you make a good point. it does seem that he is the same age as everyone else, including sasuke. meaning that he would have had to started earlier
omg..how many times have i said somehting about this on other threads? ALOT! and no one replies
that's been bugging me too throughout all of the anime....that also makes me think that all these ages are wrong

Yeah, it makes me think that the creator doesn't seem to emphesize on age, rather an interesting storyline.

Well because Naruto has no parents maybe they just put him in the academy as soon as they could

Everyone more or less start out at the academy at an early age.

everyone that was on team 7 is posed to be 12. i think cuz naruto doesnt have any parents or friends as a kid he went to the acadamy at an early age to get some attenction or something.

Some one starts in Acedemy earlyer because some one is chunin at the age of six you know.

I'm big on timelines so this also really bugged me. The Hokage's grandson is like 8 and he just started in the academy. My theory is that depending on your talent, you can start/graduate at any age. And you can opt to take the graduation tests at any age. Most people are mature enough to realize when they can take the tests and pass. Naruto probably took the tests too early, given his personality I think this makes sense, and flunked them repeatedly.

Then why didn't Sasuke start earlier? He's full of talent

Maybe he was on some sort of rehab beacause all his fameliy died and culdn't start on acedemy. Or maybe you can get 3 shots or something like that.

But still, Sasuke wouoldn't have failed...didn't he pass the test at the top of his class? He shouldn't have failed (at least the second time according to your three chances thing)....that doesn't make much sense at all actually....ummmm :?: Uh oh, now I'm confused...maybe Sasuke wanted to just buzz through everything once he thought he was ready to get to like chounin or something. Or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about anymore

There's no set age on when you start out in the academy. Naruto, having no parents, got to decide for himself when he gets to start, so he most likely started early. Sasuke HAD parents, so he probably only started after his parents were killed--which is most likely the same time the rest of the kids started.

thats propably the most realistic reason,

Well, how old was Sasuke when he lost his parents to his brother???
onikage
04-12-2004, 06:03 PM
well he was going to the academy since he was born becaue of the 3rd hokage so he started maybe a few years before the others like when they were about konohamarus age

id hafta go with the reasoning that he started earlier at the academy than most, and that he is the same age as sasuke, sakura and the others, which explains his previous failures

Maybe it was referring to failing just bunshin no justsu related tests repeatedly the same year.

ya i agree too wit the age thing i mean... anyone can start academy at any time... just depends on if your ready or not. and your talent. cuz um kakashi became a chunnin wen he was 2 or 3 years younger than naruto(12-2, 12-3)... so kakashi became chunin at age hmmm 10 or 9.. tats kinda crazy haahah lil chunin kid ahahah you dont see those in the anime alot hahaha...
o ya also itachi killed his parents wen he was 13... kinda creepy..
and itachi is around 17 now... so and sasuke is 12 now...soooo um sasuke was like 7 wen his family died....
and kakashi is late 20's like 28... hahahah so it all makes sense now...
sasuke began academy at age 7
naruto began academy early age..
hahaha hahaahhahaha i cant stop laughin just imaginin like an 8 year old wit a sharingan and like hackin ppl up durin chuniin exam... hahahah itachi ur so kool

I don't know, I agree that Naruto started early, but when Sasuke was shown standing over his parents, he seemed around 7.. Maybe younger.
However Sasuke "now" does NOT look 12..
Maybe 14, but I'd guess 16.

Kakashi is 26
Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Hinata, Ino, Kiba, Shino, Chouji, and Shikamaru are all 12.
I think Konohamaru is 8......
Kabuto is 17
Itachi is 17
And I'd say Iruka looks to be about 21

actually all the twelve year olds are now 13.....i remember the 3rd saying something about the demon fox being sealed 13 years ago...so everyone in the show is now a year older

The official in print age and stats can be found by going to this thread: http://narutochaos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1580
hence I am closing this thread as it is redundant.
