I can only say this:

Well, well, well, if it ain't the Schwammies coming to wreck havoc.

Seriously this is something all of us should take concern with. Let's hope this one will remain "underground".

Edit: My previous post was incoherrent. So I decided to make a new freshstart.

seriously, this might become ugly..what would happen if BT was shut down? would Fast, reliable anime downloads be gone forever? what about all the hard to find music?

BT isn't the end >.> there's many P2P programs.... there's also EDonkey/Emule...... I'm not really sure there's anything Hollywood can legally do to shut it down.... the program itself isn't at fault afterall...however, BT sharing sites could be >.>

"It seems pretty clear that a lot of people are actively interested in engaging in wanton piracy," said Cohen -and you know he said that with a grin on his face lmao.

"Spoofing is very difficult on BitTorrent, if at all possible," said Mark Ishikawa, chief executive of online tracking firm BayTSP Inc. "There's no defense for this one." -this is a great point because many of us rely on getting the file from certain places, and the files are pieced together, a bogus file is difficult to put into the bit torrent system. Also to get certain files you have to often times know where to get them, or who and where to ask.

I wouldn't worry, this type of thing spawns new technology ^_~

Ah, but you have not taken into consideration those IP addresses may be dynamic. The user behind the address could be connected to a foreign proxy server. So it may not be possible to track down the users (except if the tracking technology is powerful enough).

Think of it this way: There are probably hundreds of thousands or even millions of trackers. Trying to find and then contact the admin of all of those would certainly take some time.... so I really don't think there is anything to fear ;) I mean, even if a.scarywater closed because they're nice and legal, I'm definetly sure someone else would make a tracker alike it again.

Uhm.
Not everyone is on a Dynamic IP.
So MAJORITY can be easily caught (including me)

Yeah but with cable you still can change your IP unless you pay for a static one. Anyway, even for those of you with dynamic IPs (dial up mostly), your ISP most likely logs who has what IP at what time, just for the purpose of tracking you. So you're really not hiding from anyone unless you use a super anonymous non-usa proxy.
