you know...it just occur to me... most, if not all, the people i know who like anime seem to be pretty talented at drawing. I don't know if anyone would agree with me, but i'm just saying, maybe like how its an aquired "taste" to like some paintings of art (...such as abstract. @_@) maybe anime is the same, and can be considered an art too. And that fan artists are actually artists just like those who paint, or even play instruments.

...well this is just an idea. :)

P.S. i dont know if the topic has anyhting to do what i have writen, but i couldnt think of anything else.

P.P.S. i truely hate typoz. @_@

well i certainly suck at art...well, maybe not all that bad, but i am not talented in that area, so not everyone who likes anime is artistic ;)

Interesting theory... I figure it would be likened to this:
"Fans of movies usually are creative," or "people who like to read are often good writers," etc.

To an extent it could be true, but I don't think it's a guaranteed fact or trend... hmm...
I know that a lot of anime fans draw, but many of them are not serious enough to improve or become good. Just as many book fans tend to try writing, but few stay at it and excell later in that area.

I think it depends on the person... their personal motivation. If he/she is an artistic person to begin with, anything creative they watch will influence them, be it anime or not. Etc etc.

You know... I drew before I became an anime fan.. well I always liked japanese cartoon over others but... I started to draw at 5th grade of elementary school and I became an "otaku" or anime fan 2 years after...
Also I'm not a regular reader you know... I've read a few novels and I like to write I'm writting a novel right now and I write short stories...
But, still, I'm not quite good at drawing and I'm not one of the best drawers...
I also have ideas for videogames and for movies
=o.o= yay.... It depends on the person

here's a drawing of mine:

it is kinda true in my opinion
if you watch lots of cartoons reads lots of comics you see what style is good for you what is pretty how ppl are built. even if you have no talent you will draw better than person who has not talent too but dont read comics or watch cartoons
same is with reading and watching
if you read a lot (and understand what you have read) you write better.

but practice is more important. much more.
even if you know everything about art, you have seen every drawing, painting, art etc. you will never draw a pretty picture if you dont practice.

actually, now that i think about it, i am an artist :D if you consider sig-making an art, and since i have requesters still, i guess i'm not that horrible :P so your theory is turning out to be correct

:P Your pretty good, now.
However, requests really don't reflect skill. It seems that they would.. but my topic was flooded with requests, when I believe miroku has had like 2.

hehe thanks, and you are getting to be good too :D (btw, i like your DBZ sig)...and i guess you are right about the requests, but maybe more people like your style more than miroku's (no offense miroku).

i draw manga. i don't like to brag but i'm pretty good and serious about it too. i'm even thinking of entering in the next rising stars of manga contest which is held by tokyopop.
