Some stone nins are around and the fourth and kakashi notices this.

This is interesting. When talking about the ages of people though, Rin and Obito are probably 3 or even 4 years older than Kakashi. Unlike all the current teams where everyone was the same age, Kakashi graduated extremly young. My guess is that Kakashi is around 14 or so and Rin and Obito are somewhere around 16 and both are probably Chuunins.

i just want to say ... by the look of this kakashi is already an anbu (the clothing) ... cus thats wut leaves anbu wears ... sword behind their back ... tight clothings ... all black ... arms has some kind of metal protection ... so it makes sense ... the time line seems to be kind of right ... but not really ... cus 10 years ago (from where naruto began) ... the forth was dead already cus naruto is 12 ... (12 - 10 = 2 ... which means that naruto should only be 2) ... unless it starts off somewhere before naruto stroy began

Yeap, I was kinda thinking already, that Obito was an Uchiha, (the Uchiha Symbol could be seen on his back very early in the chapter) and that Kakashi didn't get his Sharingan from killing an opponnent, but he carries the sharingan eye of someone important to him, which seems to be Obito. I didn't think of the fact that it is going to be a gift to him. It will probably be that way.
The 10 years ago thing is nonsense. 10 years before now, Naruto is 2 years old and the 4th is dead. 10 years before Naruto was born, Kakashi was 26 - 12 - 10 = 4 years old = nonsense. How old was Kakashi when he became Jounin? 10, 11, 12?
When the 4th died, Kakashi was 14. So, we can tell that the 4th was still a jounin when Kakashi was like 10 or 11. Kakashi, becaming chunnin at 6, is not hard to believe that he became jounin at the age of, let's say, 11. So this story is about 14 to 16 years before now.
This will be pretty interesting. I am also waiting to see the 3-years-later changes.

That´s exactly what I thought. :D But I think it´s sad that Obito is going to die so soon. He´s nice. I´d like to see more about him, his position in the Uchiha clan (his parents can´t be too proud of him being surpassed by an "ordinary" nin as the Uchiha seem to be very proud of their strength and looking down on the others. Second theory, Obito seems to be very pissed off that he is weak so perhaps he tried to get the mange sharingan by killing kakashi but failed? It's a possibility because Kakashi seemed to know what the manga sharingan was when itachi used it against him.

was just having a quick read of chapter 7, when Kakashi was training Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke, and i was wondering if a similar event happened to Kakashi perhaps, like say he was held hostage by someone, and then the hostage taker was telling Rin to kill Obito, or told Obito to kill Rin, and mebbe Obito being the sort that doesn't follow rules, somehow gives his life up for Kakashi.. just a random muse, but i think Kishimoto likes to build his characters with this style of past events that make them do the things they do now..

Yes, both make sense and that was very good rational in the first theory with the kunai and Anbu skill. Either way it seems like we will see more chapters dedicated to Kakashi's past. And hell im not complaining. I think everyone would like to know more about Kakashi. In his fight with Itachi it seems obvious that he is a very high level jounin (other two sucked @$$). Buts its a shame to have to be a jounin for sooooooo long. How exactly do you reach the next level? Anyone know?

the jounin are the elite. there is no higher level but hokage. and only one person can be that.

even tho kakashi is a high leveled jounin in a lot of fights he seems to get his ass kicked. (itachi, orochimaru, first bout of zabuza before he whipped out his sharingan and started using it) he always seems to be picked on by higher leveled ppl than him.

I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but can only an uchiha upgrade their sharingan, you lot know what i mean, the little balls around the main part that looks like little spirit things that sasuke got during the valley of the end fight, because if only an uchiha can get it then nothing explains how kakashi unlock level 2 or level 3. From here there are two options:

1) You can, and doesn't matter about yuor blood line.

2) Kakashi gona save obito's ass and he can't take it, skip 3 years, obito's got all 3 dot thingy's but still want to be stronger so he tries to get the mange sharingan but fails, and kakashi takes the sharingan.

obito's sharingan is gonna awaken in this mission, shortly before he dies, and will give it to kakashi on his death breath or something close to that. about the ten years, kakashi is 26 in present(ithink..and everyone says so so it must be true), and he looks older than naruto(in this chapter), i thought he looked around 16, which makes sense there 26-10=16 ok. but when kakashi was 16, 4th was dead from kyuubi incident. so you can't see him as a jounin teacher of a 3man team containing a 16yrs kakashi. He says that after this mission he will go on his own (to soon afterwards become hokage). it should have been "around 15 years ago" for the 4th to still be a jounin. (kyubi 12-13 years ago + 1-2 yearsof transition)

unless we were all fooled into thinking that yondaime is kakashi's sensei while it isnt him. Damn evil twin brother who doesn't exist :evil:. It just can't not be him, kishimoto likes those links too much for him not to be him.

Perhaps the mission is a success with a medium-high mortality rate. Recall the 4th saying that it was during a time of little military power for Konoha.

Perhaps Kakashi storms in with the Chidori and gets attacked by surprise. Obito jumps in to save him and is fatally struck.

Kakashi might be injured during this conflict and both are rushed back to Konoha or a base camp for emergency medical treatment by the medic-nins. Obito's dying wish is to give Kakashi his newly inherited Sharingan. The medic-nin complies.

If it doesn't happen at this exact moment, perhaps it happens shortly.

However, I really don't believe that Kakashi attacks Obito or vice versa. It would make both of them 'traitors'. Kakashi wouldn't be a Konoha Jounin, and Obito wouldn't have had his name emblazened on the monument which Kakashi visits every morning.
