I was wondering if anyone knows what this means i hear Naruto say it all the time.

i think it kinda means "and thats what i say!" (dont trust me on that) but i know its meant to add to narutos personality
ie a bratty kid throwing a tantrum would say dattebayo

dattebayo is just some kind of word that makes him brave. (bah, dont know how to explain it >< but if you understand what im trying to say then good =P)

Itd be best to try to get a fluent Japanese speaker to explain this, but Ill try to explain with my limited Japanese in case we cant get one.

"Datte", i think, is generally a short for "Da to itte", which is kinda hard to explain just by itself. Like "Nan da to itte" is like "What did you say?" In colloquial Japanese, people will say "Nan datte" instead though. This is the way everyone else in the anime uses "Datte", though Naruto says "datte ba yo" or "(te-form word) ba yo" at the end of many of his sentences, probably just for emphasis. "Ba yo" doesn't really have any meaning other than emphasis, but im not exactly sure what the "datte" means in that situation.

Some one said if naruto was to speak english, the way he talks would be the equvilent of a texas accent, or something along those lines. Some one also said it is similar to the way Kenshin talks in Rurouni Kenshin.
