Does annyone else watch this anime? and if so... what is your favorite attack?

Mine would probably be Shishio's Flaming sword technique (I forgot the actaull name), because I'm a pyro and it is an awsome maneuver

OK , this anime started off as one with prospect... and i mean STARTED... after that it fell with its dragging... it had a chance but they just kept adding and addidng and gaying it up. FIrst few eps were by far the best, after taht ti lost all meaning. The OVA's IMO were much MUCH better.

I liked it when they got to the Kyoto Saga, it got alot better then, and also the fight with Sito, that was cool.

Ever since Saito's fight it was awesome...until the Kyoto Saga ended...meaning when they left and kaoru had to chase them down in the trian....silly girl

lOh you should see them. Trust and Betrasyl is hen he was a manslyer, and I prefer it if the two. a nd Reflections has spolers... but if you don't mind that then go ahead and see it, it was good too... though kinda sad...

ova > anime they SERIOUSLY picked upt he animation quality its like omg is this even kenshin???? i mean it looked THAT much better, especially the two post anim ova's.... great stuff. I like the 4 before the series when it showed kenshin as the battousai that was great stuff not this merciful bs that he is putting out.

I just finished watching Kenshin's battle with Shisho. I would say that the anime has been pretty good up to this point, except for the fact that i'm watching the dub and it gets annoying listening to the dialogue. There're about 30 or so more episodes before i've seen the whole anime. I was wondering for the people who've watched the anime if gets better or worse? I've read some episode reviews and they don't really compare to the episodes i've seen so far.....Are there any good battles upcoming, like with the junpon gatana, or have i seen the best of what the anime has to offer in those regards? Any info would be appreciated. thx

it sucks. the anime sucks horribly. nothing but fillers after the shisio fight. if u want the rest of the story u'll have to read the manga. the seiries gets way better with alot of cool fights and alot of secrets revealed ( like how kenshin got his scar) so yea, read the manga :wink:

what actually happens after shishios arc is filler galore. about 25 episodes- it is just like naruto but unlike naruto the storyline was quite good like the amakusa shougo arc (i hope my memory is correct on the name-its been over 3 years since i watched it for the 4th time) and some of the fights were quite good to me. THis shougo guy knew and used kenshins technique too- soo imagine. infact i have all of them on my computer.

but i know most fans dont like it because most were expecting the manga-based anime. of course since the anime caught up to the manga the filler arc(things that might have been considered but which the manga writer did not include in his manga story and plots) had to initialized just like in naruto. But unlike naruto the filler arc is a little close to what you see in the Bleach Filler arcs airing at the moment- pretty good. aalthough the manga after the shishio arc was just awesome.

i will say watch it- i watched it and it ws that which made me even decide to read the manga in the first place- but dont read the manga first.

Me neither, I was never really a RK fan, its a little too draggy IMO and all fights end with a white flash....

The OVA is cool tho...

that is really sad. you mean you didnt actually see the Japanese versions. but rather the dubbed- no wonder you didnt like the anime. as well most of the others who didnt like it. well if you were talking about the filler episodes after the shishio arc then i will understand(most fans didnt like it because they wanted the manga version. it was just like what is happening in naruto at the moment with all the fillers. unfortunately for RK it ended with over 30 fillers). But before the fillers most people consider RK as a classic. Especially for samurai based anime.

I can't say I didn't like the whole thing, Samurai X was a great movie. Your right though maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I sow the Japanese un dubbed version.

you should look for it. and you will understand what i am saying. Of course as at now it will be quite hard to find any torrents. Unless you know or learn how to use Mirc or emule or some similar p2p programme. Go look fo rthe jap subbed. they are good. really good!!!

well- good for you. i for instance am not into it. But needless to say it is one of the best classics you can find around. of course it is not that old. But when you talk about certain anime genres- kenshin is one that many will mention when it comes samurai based anime. just like DBZ is mentioned when it comes to super humans or super powers.

RK was the first anime I watched. I completely loved it. It is definitely a bit slower paced but I think its definitely worth watching. Soujiros character was brilliant :)

Of course then I went on to Naruto and the whole chunnin exam thing made me fall in love with it.

perfect- if you watched the dubbed versions- then yes. i got my first deal with Kenshin through DVDs of the OVAs and Anime Episodes. they were far awesome than what many have seen on tv, even the original japanese but subbed versions.

But the manga- it was awesome. i wont rate it soo much better than Narutos but it certainly ranks higher than most of the manga i have read. Almost close to my interest in Berserk manga.

i think its better. the reason the anime sucks is because they filler the hell out of it and then cut off half the series.

is that the anime? i never bothered watching the end of the anime ( i gues the fact that kenshin was wearing purple finaly got to me ). anyways, i'm almost done with the manga. the fight with enishi is awesome. pretty unpredictable at the moment.

u should seriously read the manga. after reading it, i have grown to hate the anime. here's a list of problems with the anime
1) the first half of the show was almost completely fillers. that and in my opinion had a lame soundtrack
2) after the kyoto arc ( which in my opion, was done well, and had an awesome soundtrack) is supposed to come the jinchu arc. ( which is considered the best half of the series) but it was cut out and instead replaced by fillers
3) kenshin wears purple :x

Well just finished the Manga and all I have to say is I'm sad cause the ending was a little anti-climatic.But I also no that the series isn't finished since the creator of Ruruoni Kenshin continued Yahiko's story which could be pretty good.Now to find that manga.

the battle with enishi was ok but the rest of the climax not so much. yahiko turned out to be pretty badass at the end too. watsuki even said he planned ( although has no intentionto make ) a second series revolving around yahiko. the odds of him acutally doing it are 0 though

(if i ever see the subbed episodes/movies i would probably hate the dubbed versions.. just like i hate the naruto dubs... lol)

Kenshin is himself and the Battousai at the same time. All are welcome! Come one come all. I will talk about one character a week until I run out of major characters. Note that my knowledge in this are is limited to the episodes until the end of the Shougo Amakuza conflict.

ruroni kenshin is old... however its a good anime to get into.. but dont expect like crazy or really great animated action scenes that we get now a days... merely kenshin is the "so called" greatest samurai in japan defeated thousands in war... however now the goverment is in a time of peace and he yet again to prove himself the most powerful when corrupt organizations occur....
its sorta cheesy but it was the first anime i ever watched and loved... so kenshin on my favorite list is pretty high....

samurai X has a crappy storyline but some good anime action sequences.... (i hope im not getting this confused with samurai 7)

Rurouni kenshin is the so-called Samurai anime standard- especially the Manga-only part. The fillers were not that bad at all and were not that good either-- but they had a somewhat good story. You should without doubt watch it.

Everything is just from memory-- find these out yourself later.

Anime-- about 96 episodes (with fillers starting in the 70's i think- right when it caught up with the manga- some people hated it but i loved it)

Movies-- i think there are two (the second one tried to do an adaptation of the parts of the series not covered by the anime-- although it doesnt even come close to the goodness of that part of the manga)

OVA's-- i think there are 4 or 5-- these came out before the anime and movies. Also called samurai x.

Best Manga Ever (I own all of the 28 vols, + Kaden, Hiden, Yahiko no Sakabato and the novels)- amaaaaazing characters, story, artwork, etc.

It's Anime version ( the TV one) is really good when it follows the manga, but I find the fillers (even the ones in season 1) absolutely horrific. The Japanese VAs and the OSTs are two of the reasons why the anime can be really good (´cept maybe Kenshin, who is voiced by a woman...)

Since I'm a much bigger fan of the Rurouni Kenshin Manga, I also truly hate the movie and the last couple of OVA's (Seisouhen) for different reasons, but the first 4 OVA's ( better known together as Tsuiokuhen) are really worth watching, even if you're not a fan of the show.
I just hope that one day, someone will remake this series, and we will finally get our Jinchuu Arc animation...

If someone is interested in watching only the Anime, here's a litlle tip based on the info from the "Rurouni Kenshin FAQ" (a very useful tool for Rurouni Kenshin noobs,
that you can find here http://iyouboushi.netfirms.com/rk/kenshinfaq.html):

Avoid all filler episodes (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 25, 26, 27 and every episode beyond the end of the Kyoto Arc -ep 62). After that, you should definitely read the Manga from the beginning of the Jinchuu Arc, which starts at chapter 165 (Vol. 18).

But if you really dislike Manga, then just watch the 4 "Tsuiokuhen" OVAs after you've watched ep. 62.
However, remember that by not reading the Jinchuu Arc, you will be missing what some say is the best part of the entire Kenshin saga, so...

Note that there's also the "Rurouni Kenshin Movie" and 2 more OVA'S (the "Seisouhen" ones), but imho, these 3 are all crap. Sorry.:yo:

Do me a favour and i think yourself too and dont watch the tv-eps. Those just spoil everything. Rather read the manga and watch the 4OVA's and the other 2 Seisshouhen OVA's. Thats quality and suberb anime at its best
