 I have scanned this thread and I am shocked and appalled that NO ONE listed "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. Shame on y'all!

I would also like to recommend The Elvenbane series by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey as well as ANYTHING by Edgar Allan Poe.

Eh, can't really books you should read, cause most of the books on my shelves are either lesbian trash novels or poetry and short SF stories...well that and non-fiction.
Wuthering Heights
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's nest
To Kill A Mockingbird
These three books taught me all i need to know..never fall in love..never get locked up in a mental insitute..and never ever go into the deep south of america

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"

Yes, definitely a good book.
Oh, and concerning the sixth book in Harry Potter, I was just complaining about it because of so much delay it has had. As far as I know, the author already finished writing all the books.

DJ Jaime
09-25-2004, 03:11 AM
Well, actually, that's not true, she's finishing the 6th one, but he hasnt finished either the 6th book nor the 7th one..

It's true, that's the name of the sixth book, and it refers to Voldemort
I love all the books from Isaac Asimov, there truly great sci-fi with interesting twist, and they're all related to the universe he creates in his books :D I haven't read the ALL, but I've read quite a few of him.
I like books from Stephen King, specially The Shinning (THIS IS SCARY, unlike the movie...)
Edgar Allan Poe wrote great histories, worth reading at :)
Also, I love the books from Fredich Nietzche (I don't if I wrote that well), I've read The Antichrist and Human, too human. Great philosophy!

LOL

Maybe I should change my avatar.
She's a Korean Actress.
I'm kinda infatuated over her after her performance in this one drama.

Anyways, I just finished Animal Farm.
Similar to 1984 but still brilliant.

george orwell 1984
it is kinda political fiction.
it is happening in 1984. it was written before 84 so orwell was writting about future.
it talks about country where there is no freedom, no pleasure, no family and no friendship. and everything is controled by gov. : big brother.
it is very sad and it doesnt matter that it is happening in 84 (so in the past)
when orwell was writting the book there was no internet, cameras were rare things and were huge. the space was still empty. human brain was unknown thing. but orwell was able to write a very realstic book about society controlled by "bigbrother"
read the book,
it should be in schools (it is not in poland)
it teaches us how humans can be beaten by themselfs.

LOTR, although it realllllyyy drags.

"Jeet Kune Do" - Bruce Lee. For a man to invent his own martial art and understand it's principles, is amazing. Only 18 or so pages, but a good read.

It's split up into annoying chapters, but at least its translated. Pretty interesting and ingenious stuff. It could be abridged, though.

that is not true, at the website of J.K. Rowling you can read it does not refer to Voldemort, i do have a hunch that its Neville Longbottom.

also there will be a new character introduced (maclachlan, or something like that) and there will be another dead. The speculations say it will be Mr. Weasly/Lupin/Snape but still al are speculations and i do not trust any other source then the writers website.

Go Divine Comedy! ^

Currently (re)reading the Hellsing manga series...recommended to all over 14 years old.

Also going through the With Fire and With Sword trilogy by Sienkiewicz. A classic.

Recently picked up What If? A hstory analysis that is really interesting...

Any of Asimov's books....I have all his works. I recommend them to Sci-fi readers everywhere.

anyone heard of Raymond E Feist?
read his first book Magician

Kuchiki

I've got almost all of Feist's books. For the most part they're pretty good, easy to read. magician is probably the best of the lot, although the trilogy Dughter, Servand and Mistress of teh Empire were quite good too.

For really an excellent period piece I recommend Patrick Obrien who wrote Master and Commander and the Far Side of the World. These are two separate books which were combined to make the movie. They are excellent but I warn you, they are quite heavy on the jargon about the old warships of the 17-19th centuries.

the Empire trilogy was good but i liked the oroginal trilogy the best and the Sepentwar Saga. Im now waiting for the next lot of books set after the Sepernt Sage to come out.
