EDIT: Since this guy created a few mangas, Himizu, Ciguatera, Ping Pong Club, and Boku to Isso are some, I decided to just make a thread about all the mangas, though I have oly read two of his so far, but found them both amazing. This mangaka is amazing in how he can make stories about life, with no fightsand paranormal abilities and make it so hooking and enjoyable, and the genre is seinen so there won't be any stereotypical and unrealistic characters, and no retarded ecchi harems. The drawings are also great, in the fact that they are "ugly"(in a way, I actually prefer this style over many shounen anime styles) and thus mimic real life.

My thoughts on the two mangas I read so far...

Himizu:
Though onemanga classifies it as comedy, drama, psychological, and seinen, I would also categorize this as a slice of life series, and my favorite one that I have read. Even though there are just 13 chapters out and I have no idea when more will be released, I already have a really high opinion on this series.

Summary: A slightly more dark and depressing take on society by Minoru Furuya.
Himizu is the grim story of a middle-school boy named Sumida. After hearing a speech at school, he contemplates his role in life. After being abandoned by his parents and left in control of their small boat rental shop, he decides to live his life as normal as possible and to be become a good person.

I read this manga a while ago, but I guess didn't feel like making a thred until now. A fun tibit, Himizu is a Japanese shrew mole, not quite sure how this is reflective of the series yet.

Ciguatera:
46 chaps out, I'm only on 20 but I love this manga. Seriously, just check it out. Right after the first chapter ends it picks up right away.

Summary: Just another story of youth, love, life, and death. From the author of Ping Pong Club and Himizu, though less comedic than the former and less soul-crushingly depressing than the latter.

Hmm Himizu is good, but I found Ping Pong Club to be a string of slapstick humour you'd expect out of a 13 year old. Maybe it was just too Japanese for me to get into.

One thing that can be said about this mangaka is that he is certainly versatile.

Haha, I looked at the first chapter of Ping Pong club and got floor-faced (or whatever you call that anime thing when they fall to the ground). Yeah, I think it was made for 10-13 year olds just to laugh at rather than be a serious manga. But the ones he creates that have to do with actual life are fantastic.

If you like Himizu you should definitely like Ciguatera, because it almost feels like it's from the exact same setting, just with completely different characters.

Hmm the mangaka I'm really looking forward to a new manga from is Rumiko Takahashi since she finally finished Inuyasha. I'm hoping for a new seinen from her like Maison Ikkoku.

I couldn't stand Inuyasha, manga or anime. One of the few series that just repels me somehow with no definite reason.

Well, the anime was just awful, so that's the reason for that one.

I'm not a big fan of Inuyasha either, though I did read it.

I just miss the old Rumiko that gave us Ranma 1/2, Urusei, Mermaid Saga, and Maison Ikkoku. She's the richest woman in Japan so it's not like she has to work hard, you'd think she could take the time to produce something of quality.

I think Inuyasha has moments where Rumiko's genius shines through, but unfortunately the majority of it is crap.

it could be that she's limited in her creative genius or maybe she just lost that inspiration do produce anything that is different and of true consistent quality.

The only good characters in Inuyasha are Sesshomaru and Kagura(I think that's her name?). If Sesshomaru hadn't been in it until the end or he just got screwed over as a character I wouldn't have even bothered reading until the end.

The only good characters in Inuyasha are Sesshomaru and Kaguya(I think that's her name?). If Sesshomaru hadn't been in it until the end or he just got screwed over as a character I wouldn't have even bothered reading until the end.

Kagura's death was one of those few moments of greatness in the Inuyasha manga.

I still think urusei and Ranma were shounen classics. Maison Ikkoku was a great slice of life seinen.

Her less known stuff like Mermaid Saga, and her short oneshots are really great too. I haven't given up on her yet, even after inuyasha.
