I was at AX08, and I found a stand where I could buy my two favorite anime for relatively cheap in boxset form (FLCL and Serial Experiments Lain). Though I also found Boogiepop Phantom there and heard it was really good, and also decided to buy it (oh my god!?, buying anime in this day and age!?)

Anyway, since I had no time before I only just got to starting volume two. It seems like it can unfold to be really interesting.

Summary: The story takes place in an unnamed Japanese city, a month after a pillar of light appeared in the night sky and five years after a string of serial killings. Boogiepop Phantom follows an ensemble cast of characters, mostly high school students, who are witnesses to the incident and its consequences. At the time of the series, high school students have started to disappear again and the blame is placed on Boogiepop, an urban legend who is said to be the personification of Death.
