Actually..I have been asking myself that question.
They keep saying that he lost his arm while binding Al's soul, but I'm sure they show him with one arm and one leg while Al is being sucked into..whatever it was and I'm also sure that Ed said: "Sorry Al, but with only one arm, that was all i could do!"
So according to that, Ed did loose his leg and arm while trying to resurrecting his mother.

check out the manga it is in there. it shows that he lost only his leg during the resurection, and if you pay close attention it shows the same in the anime, just not as obviously as the manga, and he meant with the one arm that he sacrificed this is all he could do

I was thinking of doing that ^_^
I'm going to pull the screen for my site of episode 3 & 4 soon and should be able to see it there.
Do you by any chanse know in which chapter of the manga I find that picture?
Too lazy to go through them all now, since I have to leave in 10 minutes.. ^_~V

if you are asking when it shows him losing his arm and leg and all that, it is in the first or second.it was pretty graphic too, you could see the bone and all in the center.

Yeah, they aren't dragging it out at all :)
Some of the latest Naruto episodes have been boring me (but then I have read the manga - which also seems to be going slow these days ...)
*starts toget get 22* niceness, and i see that brian is an FMA fan, nice, great show my fav anime as of now(at least taht im currently watching) and this forum NEEDS an FMA section ;/

Yea..that's the only thing which is really bugging me with Naruto...way too much talk and they dragg everything out like mad..if somebody would shut a door today in that show..it would prolly fall shut 3 weeks later.
I also like that the Manga of FMA differs so much to the anime.
That makes it worth reading for me ^_^V
i wish they got as much done in one naruto episode taht thtey do in a siNGLE FMA episode, they dont drag on in that anime at all so much gets doen and they do it good. 1 FMA episode is like the equivalent of like 5 naruto episodes i swear.

but that is why FMA is a much shorter anime, cause of the filler not being there, and man there is action in every friggin episode

*nods*
It all has it advantes and disadvantages.
A long anime tends to have shed lots of fillers, which can get annoying..a short anime is action packed (most of the time)..but sadly short :(
Ah well, there is still the hope of a movie and some specials if everything works out right ^_^V
well , as of late FMA has been KICKING naruto's ass in terms of goodness in last couple of episodes but taht just may be me
