I'm surprised no one posted this topic before..
Let's hear it, what's your favorite cd?
I think it's a good idea to have a solid list compiled somewhere... not only to brag on your favorite band or artist, but to dish out some recommendations, for all the music-lovers out there :)
I'm basing this off the cd I listen to more than any other; that one album that's practically burned into my cd player, and rarely leaves. No matter how many times I put it away, it eventually comes back again. Can't begin to count the number of times I've played it.

Funnily enough, for me it's a tie (just remembered the second one, lol):
'Mutter', Rammstein -and- 'Mars', Gackt
Fell in love with Mutter the moment I heard it, and the obsession just continued from there. I enjoy the language, love the lyrics (no matter how strange most of them are :p), and I find it to be a very creative album, musically; their best one (although most disagree with me :(). Everything is so dramatic, and some of the songs are just intense... and Nebel is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Definately a favorite; inspires me every time I listen to (and read, for that matter) it.
Mars is probably one of the greatest Jrock albums of its genre. It not only solidified Gackt as a major artist (successfully), it contributed a new sound to the field. I've never heard an album that is so emotional, but so well-done and smooth. His voice is an instrument that plays along with the music gracefully, and I was left in awe from the way he uses it here. Diverse tracks, for every mood. Beautiful lyrics, and a few great love songs scattered in there. And some really fun songs to dance to. Everything I want, I could find somewhere in this cd.
Okay, enough of my babbling
Love,

Random note: This thread could easily go into the Entertainment section... I forget that one exists, so I didn't think of that earlier. If anyone can move it, be my guest :)

Wolfcow, I know what you mean. Aside from a few favorites, I can't say which cds I like more than others. It usually depends on my mood.. but that's why the ones I listed appeal to all my mood states :P

Nirvana - Live umplugged in new york
its the last concert they gave ever in the MTV studios in New York. Kurt his raw voice is just so good, really good CD
Madness - One Step Beyond
Praised as the best 2-tone Ska cd around, amazing sound the rocksteady beats of madness just keep on and on.
Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark
every self respecting rock fan should have heard of them or atleast own a cd or 2 of them, masters at their game. Fear of the dark my favourite album but just by a inch from the number of the beast
Placebo every album
They have this very unique sound that i havent heard at any other band, i like sleeping with ghosts alot but to give a real number 1 to a Placebo album is not something i can do :P

I'm glad you mentioned Placebo...
Sleeping with ghosts is my favorite albm of theirs, but it's true that every album they create is inspired and amazing. I love their style, I love the sound, and I love the lyrics and composition. Just great music... so if I made a top 10 list, I'm sure a cd of theirs would be in there :)

Finntroll, Jaktens Tid.
It's Finnish polka metal. Great stuff, though I haven't the slightest clue what they're talking about.

Slipknot
Vol.3 The Subliminal Verses
really difficult to name favorite overall cd because i like different bands of the same genre because they sound different.
but i'll name one that i enjoyed a lot
Hate Crew Deathroll - Children of Bodom great cd if you have never heard it.
and so many other great albums from so many other bands but i wont need to mention them, Bap probably has a pretty damn firm idea of who/what album i would mention and he can fill you in if you are curious.
All hail to metal the greatest music genre

Avenged Sevenfold - Waking the Fallen
Great tune and guitar, lyrics aren't great, but no post-2000 band has had any great lyrics, so I'm not complaining.
If you want to hear a sweet instrumental
Norhter - Frozen SKy
love that one all should hear it
