Kaito: (Blargh. I don't wanna get up, tired.)
Lying face down, the newly graduated genin tried to fall back asleep, but unfortunately his mind was unable to go back, and after minutes of waiting, and pushed himself up. Unable to summon the strength to fully get up, he rolled himself over. His plan worked, and he fell over the side of the bed, facing up, landing softly due to the blankets wrapped around him.
Flailing his arms around, the blanket was dislodged from Kaito, and thrown up onto the bed from the floor. Standing up, the genin walked over to the bathroom in his room, closing the door behind him. The sound of a shower could be heard, and around seven minutes later the shower sounds stopped, and three minutes after that, Kaito emerged, hair plastered to his face. Throwing open the closet, he picked out his outfit, and threw it on.
Feeling he forgot something, Kaito walked over to his bed, and remembered what he forgot. His glasses. Putting them on, he was a bit confused. His nin-pet, Noraneko, was gone. This happened a bit, but not much, she always returned.
Kaito: (Wow, it's been a while sense we first met... A few years...)
Thinking back to the day they met, Kaito was reminiscing. Remembering what happened had an unknown affect on him, it didn't affect his emotions, his thinking, or any part of his mentality that he was aware of.
The day was around two years ago. Kaito was twelve, and he did not change much from then to now, mentally. He was an outcast, and still is. One day, he was walking along a road, going where he didn't remember, but nonetheless he didn't go there anyway. Spotting something in an alley, it was a blur, he didn't have glasses then, and it was a good thing.
Had he have glasses, he would had not to have investigate closer. If he didn't, there was a good chance he would have miss the details that made him feel compassion for her. Getting closer, he thought it was a person, getting closer, he saw it was not a person, it was in fact a cat girl. He almost shrugged it off, but he gave her a second long examination, and that was enough to keep him there longer.
He noticed a few things right away. First of all, she was very thin, as if starved. Second was she looked starving. Third was she looked very dirty. Her clothing, along with being dirty, seemed to be a bit torn up. Not knowing what exactly was going on with her, he reached into his bag, shuffled things around a bit, and pulled out a paper bag, which contained his lunch, which he was going to eat.
Throwing the bag to Noraneko, the contents spilled out, including a sandwich wrapped in clear plastic wrap, an apple, and a bottle of water. Cautious at first, she hesitantly advanced on the food, but hunger quickly overpowered her, and she took the food. She had a little bit of difficulty with the plastic wrapping and getting the bottle open, but she ate.
As Kaito went to leave, the cat girl followed him. Guessing it was because of his act of kindness, he took her in, with a small amount of difficulty from his parents, but from then on, they were partners.
Walking out the door, Kaito tried to think of what to train. Standing in the hall outside his room, Kaito focused on what he was told to train first. Thinking back, one night stood out in his head. It was late on a night not to distant, while walking home, he encountered a drunken ninja. Surprisingly, they managed to hold a short conversation, ending with what Kaito was doing. Telling the drunk he was a ninja, he was given advice, to start with chakra control, mainly tree walking with his feet only.
The details were blurry, but tree climbing stuck out. Deciding to try that, the only lead he had, Kaito ran down the hall, the living room of the family at the end of it, and the living room contained a door to the outside. Passing his parents, he decided to tell them something.
Kaito: "Hey, I'll be gone most of the day, kay thanks bye!"
The genin was not very in touch with his parents, and it showed. As he pushing the door open as he ran, they barely registered what he said, and cared even less. As the door fell shut, Kaito was already a few streets away, but that was because the hinges were rusty, and took some time to close, not much the effect of his speed.
Not knowing where to find a tree, the teen merely walked around a bit, trying to find a semi secluded spot to train. It took a few minutes of wandering, but eventually, a spot was found. It was a small park, abandoned, trash was scattered around, the benches were broken, or missing, and the trees seemed dead. Nobody was around, the place seemed perfect.
Not really knowing how to go at his task, Kaito walked over to a tree, and examined it for a few minutes, walking around it, taking in it's size, small insignificant details, and the such. Remembering it was about chakra control, and he had to only use his feet, and tree walking, he guessed, after his examination, that he had to somehow connect himself to the tree by using his chakra.
Thinking it would take a large amount of chakra to accomplish this, Kaito put a significant amount of chakra into his feet, and took a step onto the tree. The spot he stepped on exploded, and Kaito was thrown back a few feet, landing on his back. Standing up, the genin was now surprised at what happened, as well as panting from the chakra cost.
Kaito: (That... was bad. Maybe if I used a tad less it wouldn't blow up when I stepped on it.)
Walking over to the tree again, he channeled more chakra into his feet, and took a step onto the tree, with surprising results. Nothing happened. Taking another step was an even more surprising result. The same as the first attempt, except toned down. The tree semi exploded, giving out under the pressure, but not with the force from before.
Falling to the ground, Kaito managed to land on his feet, uninjured. Panting, the teen looked at the tree, and tried again. The result was the same, except this time, the chakra use was toned down so much that he wasn't able to connect to the tree for long, and after a few steps, he fell.
This would have continued for a while, except for one factor. On his final attempt, Kaito made it up a few steps before falling. Then, he simply was tired, and decided to go back home. His training was short, only lasting less than an hour (of actual training), the reason he was tired was in his few two attempts, he blew a lot of chakra, too much to be able to have extended training.
However, Kaito did learn to not do anything that stupid again, nothing of that low level uses that crap load of chakra. Sighing at the waste of time, Kaito walked out of the park, leaving one tree with two large holes on it, heading home to rest.
((The rest of his day is unimportant and boring, and thereby, I don't think it would be relevant, or helpful, to include it...
And sorry, I really have no idea what the hell you guys want for training days, let me know how badly I messed up.))

Waking up, Kaito thought something was wrong. Looking around, all he could see was darkness, a solid sheet of black all around him. Reaching up to his face, there was nothing there, nothing blocking his vision. In a sudden burst of brilliance, light flooded in, and he was able to see again. The problem, he forgot to open his eyes.
Getting up, he looked around, for real this time, and saw it was still early, and Noraneko was still here, sleeping. Getting up, he walked over to the bathroom, and took his shower, and got dressed. Walking out, his mind was blazing on what to do for the day.
Kaito: (Hrm... more training... maybe some sort of combo attack with Noraneko... I guess that'll work.) "Hey, get up lazy, we got work to do!"
Waking up Noraneko, Kaito prepared to take her to the spot from before, to work on something, which he would think of along the way.

A muffled voice, though saying nothing, disturbs perfect silence. The comfort of sleep fades away into the world of light. Contentment into grief and sorrow, fear and suffering, but also happiness. Eyes creep open, taking in this world of pleasure and pain. The mind behind them has been numbed to anxiousness and fear of the unknown. The world it sees now much different from the one she considered her own.

Noraneko rolls onto her side, brushing stray, black hair from her eyes. Kaito stands above her, looking down expectantly. The voice had been his. She wondered why he saw the need to speak to begin with. A simple nudge would have woken her. She enjoyed silence.
She rose to her feet slowly, steadying herself against the wall. Kaito motioned for her to follow him, and she crept hesitantly behind him as he headed out of the house, into a soft, morning fog.

Making his way through the empty streets, Kaito went through the village, searching for his previous training ground. It didn't take long, only a few minutes after leaving the house, and they were there. Entering the park, it was pretty much the same as before, trash around, the tree was dented, no real structures. Good enough for training.
Thinking of what to train, Kaito came up with some last minute, half assed idea for training, and somehow he had to communicate without talking. The first thing that came into his head was miming it.
Walking over to a broken bench, with one board left, he grabbed it, and tore it off. Going back to Noraneko, he tried to explain in as simple as possible. First, he pointed at her, then the board. Next, like a javelin, he hurled the board, which flew through the air, before crashing into the ground, and splintering.
Cringing, he faced Noraneko and gave a shrug, as if to say 'Your call'.
((So, if you can think of anything better to do now is where you can communicate. Feel like doing my idea, go ahead...))

Noraneko followed Kaito through the haze, watching the mist swirl around them as the moved. The sensation of water droplets on her skin sent a chill through her spine. She shivered slightly in the cold.
Soon enough, Kaito stopped, pulling a board of wood from a shattered bench. The girl watched as he pointed to her, then the board, launching it through the air. The crack of splintering wood echoed in her ears.
She cocked her head to the side, looking intently at Kaito. He was trying to tell her something. She had no idea what he meant to do, but there was one way to find out. She nodded her head slowly, as if she understood, watching to see what he would do.

Taking a deep breath, Kaito prepared himself for this. Either it would be pulled off spectacularly, or Noraneko would end up with some broken bones, but he was prepared to go through with it. A bit unsure of how to do it, he stalled a few seconds, figuring out how to do it.
In a last second idea, it came to him how to do it, and not wear himself out and it would probably work better. Stooping down a bit, near Noraneko's feet, he cupped his hands, and motioned with his head for her to step on.
After Noraneko was standing on his hands, he crouched down even more, standing very low to the ground. Supporting the weight of another person, his arms were beginning to get slightly sore, however, his arm muscles were relaxed, all of his power was in the interlacing of his fingers, keeping a solid place for her to stand.
Enacting his idea also enacted a lot of soreness. The main focus were his joints and his fingers, although his forearm hurt a bit. Kaito was lifting his arms up in an almost diagonal direction (up and forward) from his body, while holding Noraneko, to give her lift. As well as that, he practically jumped, except the extra weight kept him to the ground, but he sprung up rapidly, for extra force. All that was left was to hope Noraneko knew what to do.

Noraneko lifted her bare feet into Kaito's hands, crouched low to maintain her balance. She waited for him to make a move of some sort, hopefully revealing what she was meant to do. She looked on with a puzzled expression.
Kaito thrust her upwards rapidly, startling her. She understood why he had thrown the board now. She kicked away from him quickly, trying to push herself backwards rather than upwards to avoid a high fall. She found herself floating in the dense fog, surrounded by mist. For a moment, she could see only white haze. Unable to tell which direction was up or down, she curled into a ball, hoping to distribute the impact evenly throughout her body, and roll when she hit the ground, breaking her fall.
She hit the ground with a soft thud, tumbling uncontrollably across the soft grass for a moment before sliding to a halt. A muffled sigh escaped her as she felt the long grass brush against her skin. That had not gone as well as she had hoped.
Noraneko lifted herself to a sitting position, slowly. She looked back at Kaito, questioning.
"What exactly did that accomplish?"
OOC: yes, that last line is thoughts. No, I don't use the nasty parentheses or "thoughts:" marking. No, she doesn't speak English. Thoughts and whatnot will be 'translated' so you know what is going on.

Seeing Noraneko launched from his hands, one thing was clear, the fog was going to get in the way. She quickly was out of sight, hidden within the sheer wall of white, and there was no way of telling how effective the attempt worked.
Jogging in the direction he threw Noraneko, he looked around for her, and when he spotter her, Kaito knew something went wrong. First, she was sitting, a sign that she didn't land on her feet. Secondly, if it went according to plan, she wouldn't be wondering what went on. He had to to mime what was supposed to happen.
Kaito pointed at Noraneko, then motioned the throwing method he used to chuck her. Unsure of how to tell her what was supposed to happen, he stepped forward, pointed at her, then himself, and jumped forward, motioned fighting, and landed.
When done, he got down in the position of throwing Noraneko, motioning her to step on again.

The sitting girl watched quietly, thinking that Kaito was making himself look like an idiot, despite his somewhat serious expression. While she wasn't entirely sure how it could be helpful, she now understood what he meant to do. He wanted to be able to move her quickly through the air, to get her into a position that would benefit him in some way. It seemed a bit silly, not knowing what his motivation was, but she trusted that it would come in handy eventually.
She rose as Kaito motioned for her to be thrown again. She stepped up into his hands slowly, this time she would be more careful to land on her feet.

In mid throw, Kaito realized something, that things were going to go horribly wrong. When he raised his arms to throw Noraneko they were close to his body, and when they finally released Noraneko, the trajectory of the throw caused a slight alteration in the flight.
It sent Noraneko forward, very quickly, and she wasn't upright when she took flight. Flipping in mid flight, she landed on her feet, however it was not the desired result. Not on her feet for long, she fell forward, and slid a few feet on the ground.
Running over to see what happened, Kaito observed a look of pain on Noraneko's face, and he was immediately stricken with guilt. Promising to not do anything so stupid again, he crouched down, and lifted her up, and carried her back to the house.

Well, this sure is interesting... you guys need to work on your teamwork and all that (Remz knows this already)
Venus : The tree walking thing was... weird to say the least. lol. Usually people have mentors to teach them about chakra control, it's not something learned on one's own. Of course, you can take that path, I'm not stopping you, but you have to put a lot more thought and trial and error into your training. By trial and error, I don't mean "Trial 1 fail, trial 2 fail, trial 3 fail, trial 4 better, trial 5 good" What I mean is that spread out the training over the course of a few days, have specific explanations of what needs to be for the training and a few trials here and there... skip a few hours or write that he did that training for a few hours.
In short, don't learn something you know nothing about in two tries... Mmmaky??
Remz : I really don't know what to do with judging your training... you got chucked a lot and that's about it (LOL) ... I guess you will have a storyline when you do flashbacks. I'm looking forward to reading those instead of seeing your poor char be thrown around, lol.
1 XP awarded to Venus and 1XP to Remz... you guys had at least SOME storyline, and since this is an gray area in terms of being the first to do this, 1XP is sufficient enough. Tree walking NOT learned... do it over again, and with some passion !!

Kaito's soft breathing brought a peaceful feeling to the darkened room. The girl in the corner watched him sleep silently. She found that she couldn't sleep herself, though exhausted. She sat with her back against the wall, on the bare floor, wrapped in a thick blanket. Her head rested on her knees as her mind drifted away. To a time and a place best forgotten.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ship lurches beneath her feet. She stands on deck, surrounded by people of her own race. Brief shouts of command echo across the deck as dark waves pound into the sides of the ship. Deck hands scurry about, stacking all of the cargo on the ship's starboard side, attempting to counter-balance the force of the sea. They had seen the storm coming hours ago, but there was no bay or harbor they could anchor in until it passed. They were forced to push on in search of land, and they had found it. Just over ten minutes ago. If they had set out just a few hours sooner they might have made it to the shore.
Presently, a wave crests the side of the boat, drenching all the crew members unfortunate enough to be on it's starboard side. It is followed shortly by another. This one rocks the whole ship.
The girl finds herself on her knees, clutching the ship's rigging for support. A large deck hand yanks her to her feet and drags her below deck before the next wave struck. He shouts a blunt order to her before he slams the door behind her, disappearing behind it.
"Get the map maker above deck."
They were planning to turn around now. It was too dangerous to forge ahead. They had accomplished their goal of finding land to the west. Nothing more was needed. They wanted the map maker to record its coordinates so they could come back and explore it another day.
The girl stumbles down the narrow stairways, struggling to keep her balance above the shifting stairs. She reached the bottom in time, and turns into the wider hallway in which the map maker's room is located. She proceeds slowly, watching the hall twist and turn before her, creating a disturbing disorienting effect. Finally, she leans against the correct door, feeling light-headed now.
The door cracks open slowly, and she peers inside. She does not see the man she is looking for at first, but a second glance reveals that he is slumped over his desk. He lies motionless and silent, a trickle of blood dripping from his head.
The girl forces the door closed quickly, a sinking feeling in her heart. She runs back the way she came, back up the stairs. The twisting of the corridors not bothering her at all now. She forces the door to the deck open with her shoulder.
Water runs over her feet and down the stairs behind her. The deck is flooded. She steps out onto it just as the deafening crack of splintering wood is heard, even above the violent sea. The ship tips to its side. She falls to her hands. She struggles to lift herself. A wave crashes over the high side of the ship. A torrent of water pours over her and everyone else on deck. The water slides her down the ship's deck, crushing her against the safety railing.
She now hangs dangerously close to the edge of the ship. She looks to see the other side of the deck rising higher and higher. It would be impossible even to climb up it now. She braces herself as another wave crashes over the ship. The force of the water snaps the railing out from under her.
She falls thirty feet into the cold water. She finds herself in a sea of blackness, unable to tell where she is. She wonders if she has died. She feels strange, seeing nothing, her entire body feels cold. Then she feels it. She is still alive. Suffocating. She needs breath. Her body cries out for it. Her lungs burning now, she swallows water. Choking, she instinctively screams, only to create no sound and take in more water.
Suddenly, she breaks the surface, the cold air biting at her face. She struggles violently to stay afloat. She vomits salt water as she claws her way onto the floating railing from the ship. Finally, she can breathe. Chilled air rushes into her lungs. She lives again.
She looks up just in time to see the ship capsize and slowly begin to sink.
Sitting up in bed, Kaito looked around, seeing the light of early morning push through his curtain, sending small slits of light shining onto the floor, dimly illuminating the room. Feeling tired, he put his hands to his head, and held it up as he let his neck go relaxed. The previous days were a haze as he tried to remember what happened.
Suddenly, everything came to him in a sudden rush of mental activity, the events of the last few days unfolded rather quickly. Images popped up as if played from a recorder, his failed attempts at learning to tree walk, his two horrific tries at using some form of combination attack with Noraneko.
Realizing how badly the first few days went, Kaito sighed, and let his head fall back on the pillow, and frowned, closing his eyes, and trying to forget what happened. However, he was unable to remove the images from his head, as they played back over and over again, constantly reminding himself of his failure.
Kaito: (Urgh, this sucks. Going like everything else I try, miserably. Might as well just realize this now, I fail at life.)
Rolling onto his side, he tried to push the dreary and bleak thoughts out of his head, however, like before, they were there still, no matter how hard he tried, and were instead forcing other thoughts out, becoming the main focus of his mind. Unable to bear it, he opened his eyes, and went to get up to do something for a distraction.
What he saw was Noraneko, lying, with her head pressed against the blanket. Groaning, he pushed himself up, and stood up, shaking his head, trying to get rid of the last wisps of tiredness that clung to him. Walking over to the bathroom, he turned on the shower, and got in, after removing his clothes.
Feeling the hot water drops bombard his skin, all over his front, warming him quickly, any feeling of lethargy he felt were now gone. Trying to think of what to do, his mind was clearing now that he was awake, and the situation was less futile than first anticipated, and a few things were going in his favor.
The main was was he had Noraneko to support him, no matter how stupid he acted. And that was all he needed. Nothing else was relevant, she was practically a sister, except for her being a cat-girl, and unable to communicate verbally, but he had the feelings of her being a sister, even if he had no way of telling what she felt.
After washing himself, Kaito got out, and toweled himself dry, and got dressed. Walking out his bathroom, he looked around the room once, and left.
Around three hours later, the genin was lying on a low branch, face up, eyes closed, going over what exactly just happened. His first few attempts worked out badly, with good reason, he had no where near mastered this technique, and had to get adjusted to the amount of chakra used.
A little bit in, his performance peaked very early, he managed to take around 5 steps up, before simply losing control, not having enough ability to hold himself. From there, no other attempt managed to get as far, no matter what he did. Sometimes, he was in too much of a rush, and sent too much chakra to his feet, and met with a section of exploding bark.
Most times, he simply couldn't control his chakra flow, and it spiked too low to keep connection to the tree, and he fell. A few times the results were out of the ordinary, caused by random chance. One time, a passing bug decided it was interested in Kaito, and buzzed around his head, creating a momentary distraction, which caused a loss of chakra flow, which caused the genin to fall to the ground.
Thinking over his failures, Kaito was tired from the training, and in the resting position, he soon feel asleep, lightly breathing in the shade of the tree, the branches spreading out enough to cover his face with shadow.
His mind empty of dreams, only replaying the past events, he was peaceful for a short while, then his face began to take on a shape of discontent, occasionally twitching, his mouth slashing into a slight frown, his eyes closing tighter, it was obvious it was not a fully pleasant experience.
Opening his eyes, he realized what the main problem was for him, and his sleep helped him realize it, seeing what he did, seemingly from a third person view, and it was clear what he was doing wrong. He was too impatient.
Kaito, rushing to get it done, simply tried to just get it over with, went to quickly through the motions of tree walking, not taking the time to properly adjust himself, or get used to tree walking, just setting himself up to fail over and over again, in hopes that it would help.
Sliding off the branch he climbed up the tree (using his hands) to get to, he fell to the ground, and manged to remain upright as he waited for the stiffness of his limbs to wear off. Shaking his legs a bit, he was soon ready to try again, cracking his neck, he took a few deep breaths in preparation, and focused him mind for the task, focusing on one thing, the connection between the tree and his foot.
Taking a step up, he held this position for a few second, before mental preparations were done, he took a step of faith, hoping he was right in this, and that actually intensely focusing on the chakra control part of the training was the solution to his problem.
Putting his foot down, he focused more on the connection than taking another step, and continued walking up the tree. Another factor helped him with his task, if insignificant, his nap in the almost end of his training, the times he kept up the flow of chakra kept replaying in his mind, and he was used to it, as well as his subconscious adjusting his body to it.
This attempt, he was able to match his original peak performance, and slightly surpass it, before he fell down, making sure his last attempt was a graceful one, falling, catching himself with his hands, and managed to hold himself up, walking a step away from the tree on his hands, before falling into the position of an arch.
Standing up, he replayed the events of his day as a whole, and was satisfied with the advance, if mostly mental, it was enough for him. This mental advance would aid him in future training, he learned to not rush through everything, and take his time in training. Tangible training, he made slight headway with his tree walking, nothing that major.
Walking away from the small, abandoned park, he headed off to screw around doing something fun for a while before heading home to eat, relax, and eventually go to bed.
((A few notes...
1. With my first, I never intended to learn tree walking
2. This post, same thing))
