Is it like chemist with an "al" infront, so the "ch" is pronounced like a k? (Ahl-kem-ist)
Or is the "ch" pronounced like it most words with "ch"? (Ahl - chem - ist)
I always thought of the word as #2, but them I realized that alchemy is like "alchemistry" sorta with "al" infront of "chemy".

Well, If I pronounced that word with the spanish pronunciation, id have to use the 'ch' in the pronunciation... But in english it'd be weird..
It should be pronounced like 'Leachu' said.

No, Jaime, English does not have all-encompassing rules.
English was derived from a multitude of different languages, so many of the sound combinations have different rules to similar sounds of different backgrounds.
Rarely is one rule consistent in the language I speak >_> It's just too varied

Yes :P It's why English is so comprehensive, it's a mix of so many languages... That's why it's easy to learn for people who naturally speak some of those languages...
