Okay so today I finally got around to going to a small Japanese bookstore close to time square that Regina told me about (which was only about 5 or 6 blocks from my job) and I picked up the latest imported copy of Shonen Jump that they had. It was actually last week’s issue of jump too!
At first I accidentally picked up the American version of Jump that vis media helps distribute but then at the last second I asked the guy behind the counter if they had the imported version and he grabbed one from the shelf behind him and said it was the latest one they had. It only cost me $4.40 USD which is relatively affordable for my budget too.
And for New York City being almost 7 thousand miles away from Japan and all, I thought that the issue of Jump only being a week behind was pretty damn good for normal import standards (though I have no basis whatsoever for this assumption).
On top of that, Jump is like 200-300 pages of manga (not just Naruto, Bleach, and the other mainstream mangas). There are like 30 or 40 other manga stories in here. I must admit that I don’t speak or read a lick of Japanese, and I don’t have a scanner but if people were interested I wouldn’t mind getting one and becoming a RAW provider for anyone who’s part of a scanlation group (or thinking of starting one).
Just thought I’d throw it out there.
