the strongest case or should i say the most universal i have seen being made about dubs and their originals is that the voice acting arent the same (go figure) or doesnt Usually compare. But there are some rare cases that the voices are just as good .

There are dubs that truly suck. and when it happens to a really famous series it hurts fans even more. This is the case for One Piece.

The dubbed Naruto is okay at some parts and deathrow quality at others, it's different.

The thing they did wrong is spell it wrong, and that's because 4Kids have no respect for admitting that a dubbed anime was originally Japanese.

It's not Fox that f'd up, it's 4Kids. Now if 4Kids specifically works for Fox, I have no idea, but it was 4Kids that dubbed One Piece, and FoxBox shows 4Kids programs. They've kept all but "Zoro's"/"Zolo's" name the same. In one of the movies and on wanted posters, it's spelt "Zoro" but they mighta worried about him getting confused with a certain famous film character...

I can't believe it, of all the complaints there can be of this dub, no one complains about things that actually matter!
-Guns changed into supersoakers, corkguns, wierd hammer contraptions, shovels, and other crap like that.
-Bellemere (sp?) being "locked away for the rest of her life" and yet no mention of her death, she just conveniently doesn't come back after Arlong is defeated.
-Bellemere holding a SHOVEL into Arlong's mouth (holding it like a rifle, how odd lol)
-Zoro's childhood friend/rival didn't die, she got her arm screwed up so bad she could never use a sword again. Zoro has no reason to be as sad as he is when he thinks of her, I mean when he thinks about someone who lost her arm, he acts like he'll never see her again, or that she died... or something like that... :roll:
-filler of dragon stuff prior to Grand Line, Buggy's finding his body, and Little Island. What do I mean by these things? If you watched only the dub, you'd never know.
-Whiskey Peak, if we say this, kid's might be tempted to drink down a buncha whiskey, better be careful.
-Calling all wine and such grape juice. Great, so now kids will drink wine and say "This is some good grape juice!" assuming they're still able to talk well at all. Not that they'd be FAR off generally...
-Puns up the whazzoo (sp?). Examples not limited to "Zolo's" entire fight in Whiskey Peak and Mr. 3's pleading to Mr. 0 in Alabasta... where he shoulda been at the very least pleading for his life instead of making bad jokes, even if Little Garden never existed (Little Garden was NOT filler, after all!)

I'm happy about one thing so far, they have not seemed to avoid Luffy getting impaled by a certain hook, they kinda showed it, though not from the front/back, only from the side.
I REALLY wanna know how Luffy's gonna beat Crocodile in the end, magic water spilling out of his stomach when a fairy fixed his wound or something?

I caught all the stuff about Whiskey Peak, people NOT dying, and all that from watching a few minutes of episodes here and there, as it would come up before or after shows I enjoy watching. Particularly Sanji suddenly having a random eternal pose to Alabasta that the head chef gave him a long time ago, JUST in case, and he completely forgot until Vivi was worried and all that. And how the Grand Line episode came so damn quickly that I realized Buggy never came up until that last stop before the dragon filler stuff. I HAD to watch for Luffy getting impaled, and I'll watch lil bits and pieces of episodes waiting for the last fight between Luffy and Crocodile to see what 4Kids do, as that should be hilarious.

i think this what happened:

one piece cost a lot of money. 4kids butchered it and fandom of op began their work.
telling people who are happy with dubs to watch subs, promoting subs, attacking watchers of dubbed version whenever it was possible, alienating them from internet community. and with time, enough people saw subs to never go back to dubs again.

and the profit was too small. or not existent.

so petition might not work but they do in small scale contribute to everything else.

It's someone who writes about why dubs can, at times, be as good as, or even superior to subs. The guy has very good points, especially for the average sub watcher, who watches subs because s/he does not understand Japanese and dialect differences, among other things.
I hate/dislike select dubs, and never "because they're dubs," but because they lost the meaning in something from translating it plain *wrong* (I know Japanese can usually be translated in multiple ways), because of censorship, because of changing the story, or because of choosing a voice that changed the personality completely. One Piece has done all of these, and more, thus I hate the One Piece dub. I find the Naruto dub pretty damn good, though I find the blood spurting censorship annoying at times, it's minimal. The FMA dub was pretty good, everything was spot on. Bleach dub so far has been pretty much perfect. I never dislike a dub because it's "different," but because the story line and/or character personalities were completely changed because of how the dub was done.

this is a correspondencein which 4Kids Marketing Director Roz Nowicki indicated they were dropping One Piece Dub.

Apparently at that time 4Kids had dubbed 104 episodes of the series into English.

I dont know which episode cartoon network has aired thus far and wouldnt ever watch it after my first experience-- but it should get to something of 104 episodes

That'll prolly come to the end of the Baroque Works saga, as Crocodile got beaten in episode 126 of the original Japanese version, and the US has cut out several episodes, at least 10-15 for Little Garden, and I believe quite a couple more before the Grand Line... According to this source, 4Kids has dropped the series at episode 106. Pretty weird since it was only the second episode of the Jaya Arc...
