Death Note is returning ...
This year's 11th issue (on sale on February 9) of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will publish a special standalone short story for Tsugumi Ooba and Takeshi Obata's Death Note manga in Japan. The announcement was made in the current issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, which was released on Monday. The 44-page story with color insert will describe an event after the end of the original series — specifically, the case of a new Kira. The return of the Death Note manga will mark the February 9 opening of L change the WorLd, the spinoff based on the two Death Note live-action films. The original run of the manga lasted from December of 2003 to May of 2006 in Japan, and Viz Media has released all twelve volumes in North America.

this sounds like one of those sequels that are trying to milk something that was excellent and now turn it to trash.

BTW, we did saw what happened after the kira was killed ... The talk between Matsuda and the other police man and also some people including Misa holding a candle and praying for kira ...

I wonder what more there will be this time ...

word on that. The manga was already better than the anime. + The movie didnt do it justice. So this might even make it worse

Actually this is not the first chapter, this is just one extra chapter that the author wrote ... i don't think there will be anymore ...

I really did liked the chapter, but it wasn't as great as Kira vs. L ... the whole chapter was about Near saying that how L is so good and blah blah ...

One more good thing would be that Near actually respected Kira in a way ... Now that was freakin cool ...

The one shot added a little bit more character development on L and Near. I never really liked L, and thought he was terrible as a lawman. The fact that he admitted his true self-opinion and motivation actually amde me respect hima little more for admitting it. I understand you arguments for not continuing the series because the characters L and Light are irreplacable, but at the same time, aren't yoiu curious about the Shinigami World? I'd like to know more about them, and see them interact with mankind a little bit more. I agree that any continuation should not be focused on any one character given the death note for a long period of time, but I would like to see how othjers fail trying to use it! And whatever happened to Misa?

I seriously don't wanna see any more of this, the fight between L and kira was perfect ... it cannot be more interesting than this ... And seriously i don't think the shinigami world really matters that much, its just another world that will never be explained ... i prefer it to be kept like this ... And even Ryuk said it at the end, not any human can use the death note, i think this implies that there won't be any other chapter after this one ...

As for Misa, if you don't know about the "vol.13 How to Read":
Misa died on February 14, 2011, one year after Kira died ... She supposedly killed herself, that she just couldn’t live without kira ...

I agree deathnote was for me the L and Kira story, everything that has come after has just been other information that I was curious about. Tsugumi Ohba will probably make more just because hey everyone likes making money but I doubt I will read it.
