C-Rank Mission: Ghosts In The Forest (http://forum.narutochaos.com/showthread.php?t=14855)
Replacement Technique
Allows the user to replace themselves with a nearby object, confusing opponents and providing plenty of time to hide or escape.
Transformation Technique
Grants the user a temporary change of form, in to any object or person of comparable (50% +/-) size.
Clone Technique
Creates an illusionary copy of the user in their present condition. The clone is completely capable of its own movement, but any direct physical contact instantly eliminates it. The clones do not leave footprints, or any actual trace of existence once eliminated or released.
Puppet Technique
Creates a set of small chakra strings, one per finger, which are most commonly used for controlling marionettes. The strings are extremely durable, and have only been seen to break when under the most extreme stresses or attacked directly via chakra manipulation.
A special note:
Setbu was a character used before the restart of the SoS. Because of persoanl problems I was unable to be around for several months, and it left a large gap in Setbu's story. The first series of training quests are ACTUALLY a telling of what occured during those months. The first one may seem unlikely for a gennin, but at the time Setbu was a high ranking gennin, with a great deal of skill. The heart transplant, mentioned and then explained in full has caused him to loose all of his jutsu and abilities. Thus he meets the requirements of the current SoS but his story flows forward. I will reference events from those days on occasion PURELY as story-arcs, at which point I will HAPPILY provide links for backstory, or if needed repost for clarification.
I hope this clears everything up, but more than that I hope you enjoy our continuation of Setbu's Story.

<<Setbu sighed as the bubbling water and heat rinsed his body, his flesh turning a soft pink, making the bright red of his scars all the more visible. Slowly the sun set, a cool breeze washing over. The feeling was intoxicating, and Setbu felt relaxed enough to allow his mind to wander.
Instantly it flashed back to how he'd home to this, almost completely unable to perform any jutsu, no marionette to call his own, and only the starting requisitions of a starting gennin. He thought of Nobaku, and considered checking on the skilled shinobi who had been his partner for that fateful day. Suddenly, like a torrent his mind ripped open, flashing thoughts of exactly what had occurred...
Eight months ago:
Setbu slipped from shadow to shadow, carefully dodging the enemy nin patrols, sliding the explosive tags into the predetermined locations. His set was the easiest to achieve, and he was grateful for it. The ANBU agent moved so quickly Setbu was sure he'd have placed the tags, gone to lunch, and maybe even found himself something to entertain before the lowly puppet master even managed to get through his half. The bridge was alive with activity, no doubt once the final touches where made entire battles could be waged without strain.
He paused, waiting on Nobaku to complete the necessary removals, watching the time carefully, waiting for the precise moment to evacuate. Suddenly everything went wrong. Metal shattered, stone caved, and flames ripped through the air. Spindle leapt before him, absorbing most of the flames, but some slipped by. Setbu's unmarred face suddenly felt hot and painful, the heat licking his flesh lovingly.
The stone came down all around, a large chunk slamming into his head. His mask, for all its shine gave away like the soft paper mach that it really was. Setbu collapsed away, falling and pushing forward at the same time, using a nearby stone column for support, watching as Spindle dissolved in the heat and debris.
His mind went numb, his body moved of its own accord. The seals flowed like water, his beloved Kyaccha-bomu bursting forth, surrounding him like a set of armor as the loud crack of detonation came forth. Setbu was hurled back, his skin already sore from the intense heat, but the next set of hand seals removed the force from the wall. Instead he sank into the several foot thick concrete structure, the air pushed from his lungs. Fighting to remain alert, he felt the world shift, and shake.>>

<<The structure gave way; concrete, masonry, steel, supplies and enemy workers spilled out into the night sky, plummeting hundreds of feet into the ocean below. Gulping harshly, Setbu closed his eye as the blood from his forehead spilled down into his eye, rendering it almost instantly useless. Shivering, he fought to stay alert and maintain the jutsu, the pillar he'd slid into providing the only form of cover available to him, and as the ground crumbled away he found himself aloft, still within the cement, but falling harshly and quickly to the water below.
The secondary explosions sounded, the last vestiges of stability from the bridge vanished as shrapnel sprayed the starlit sky. A single piece of steel, propelled by the explosive force pierced Setbu's hiding spot, and Setbu himself. Screaming pain as the metal cleaved open his chest, Setbu felt a sudden spasm in his own chakra. The bar had nicked his heart, perhaps fatally, and was now lodged in his ribs. Without immediate medical attention Setbu knew that would be the end of him.
Suppressing his urge to panic, Setbu walked himself through several calming exercises, the fall feeling like an eternity. The bridge had been a magnificent piece of work, several hundred feet above the air, so high that the falling debris took minutes to final impact the water below. By the time his chunk of concrete protection finally touched the icy water below, Setbu had lost awareness and was deathly near sleep. His jutsu broken, he was expelled from the stone and into the night sky, only to seconds later be take under by the rushing water.
The sudden cold, wet embrace of the river snapped the young shinobi to his senses, brining him to a state of full awareness. Focusing, he held out his hand towards a nearby long, flinging his kugutsu no jutsu upwards, touching the log for a moment before settling and attaching firmly. With sheer determination (and countless hours of physical preparation) Setbu pulled himself to the log on these invisible wires, breaking the surface of the water with a loud gasp.
Quickly he scanned the shoreline for a place to rest, and perhaps signal for help. Seeing a small beach head jutting out into the water, he swam furiously, pushing the log into the current, using it and his basic knowledge to propel himself forcefully to the beach. Panting fro breath, shivering from the cold and blood loss Setbu crawled towards the nearby brush, all the while taking inventory of his possessions.
Both his puppets has been destroyed by the explosions and subsequent fall, his kunai/shuriken pouch had been lost beneath the river's surface. Most of his senbon where broken, and all but two of his exploding tags where soaked, the ink running rendering them useless and impotent. That only left him with a few feet of wire, two exploding tags and heap of scrap paper.
Sighing from within the brush, Setbu began to plan out how to signal his ally shinobi of his location, while removing his cloak and harness, using them to apply pressure to his wounds, praying the still-lodged pole might provide some aid against the bleeding. He wasn't sure what he was running on, whether it was luck, determination, or the excellent shape he'd fought so hard to maintain, but as the wounded shinobi crawled from the water onto the beach head, his headband clearly that of the very village Setbu’s been dispatched to stop, the young Sunagakure native said a silent prayer that it wasn't about to run out.>>

???: "Whoever's there, I've already seen the blood on the ground, and from the amount I'd say you're already as good as dead. Why not come out and make this easy on us both?"
<<Setbu's mind raced, weighing the possibilities. He could try escaping, but with his injuries he'd never make it far, and he was in enemy territory. He could try direct combat, but the enemy was in better condition than himself, and there was no telling how skilled he was to begin with. Cursing silently, Setbu mentally ran over his internal inventory again, then devised his plan.>>
<<Setbu quickly performed the sequence of hand seals for henge no jutsu, transforming himself into a far healthier version, immediately following it with a clone. Nodding at his handy work, Setbu removed the few inches of wire from his pouch, and affixed the dud tags to it. Placing the tripwire along a nearby path, he slipped back into the shadows. Quickly he created a second clone, this one in his true, more damaged form just out of sight from the original tripwire.
Along this path he placed his remaining two explosive tags covering them lightly with dirt before again taking refuge. Utilizing kugutsu no jutsu, and his last ounce of chakra Setbu placed an invisible tripwire along the second path, and the two notes, ready to manually spring the trap without a moment's notice>>
Setbu: "I'll come out, but with our injuries we both need doctors, so rather than battle this out just take me prisoner....agreed?
???: "Agreed...."
<<The enemy shinobi smirked beneath the shadowy moonlight. The kunai in his hand all but cried out for blood. This man had killed his friends, his fellow shinobi, there was no way he could risk this foe trying a second attack. Slowly he stepped onto the path, searching for Setbu, carefully walking towards him. Only a few feet before he was close enough to attack the trap became apparent. The fool was using a bunshin, and had strung tags along a tripwire on the path.
Smiling, he realized that Setbu would need a line of sight, to ensure that the plan worked. Flicking his vision to the side, he caught a glimpse of the idiot shinobi, and made for the attack in a flash. His lunge was brutal and merciless, and as the "injured Setbu" vanished in a puff of smoke, the hidden tags beneath his feet springing up by some invisible force he realized just how stupid he'd been>>

<<Stumbling from his hiding place, blood spilling all around him, Setbu drew his remaining senbon from his holster. He looked down on the enemy shinobi, badly wounded but sill alive. Futile as it was, he reached for his kunai, only to have Setbu kick it away>
Setbu: I can't believe he lived through that...the explosives where weak, sure, but he still took them at point blank range and with no warning....if not for his injuries this guy would've had no problem dealing with me....such a shame....
<<Without another moment's hesitation Setbu lunged forward, his senbon passing lightly through into his opponent's soft skin, into his veins and past. His trachea pierced, blood spluttering around the small pin both out and into his body the unnamed shinobi was denied even his death throes. Collapsing to his knees, Setbu again tried to clear his head.
The explosions had been dulled down, but attention would still be drawn. It was a matter of minutes, if that before he was surrounded, and he was no completely out of weapons. His body was weak, and even thinking was suddenly effort. Fleeing wasn't an option, fighting wasn't an option, and a trap wasn't an option. Just as he was about to give into dread Setbu had one last idea.
Reaching out, he removed the dieing man's headband, placing it where his own had been only a few minutes ago, before the bridge and stone ripped it away. He removed all vestiges of his flashy attire, placing them on his enemy before sinking to the ground. The world swam around him, and he was so tired. So much blood lost, so much pain that he no longer felt it. Even if someone found him, at this point his odds of surviving where so slim they might as well not be counted.
Content to simply sleep, Setbu slumped over. He could hear the footsteps coming closer. He could hear the incoherent shouting, feel the world lurch as he was pulled onto his back, but none of it made sense. And at last the darkness took him>>

<<Setbu stirred softly, moaning quietly as the darkness over his mind lifted. He could feel the lingering of drugs in his system, but something was....different. His body hurt, from his toes down to the follicles of his hair itself. Painfully he tried to sit up, quickly regretting it as his body gave painful protest.
Content to lie still for a few moments longer, the young shinobi scanned the room. There where several small tables on wheels, containing blades, clothes and other tools he'd only seen during some of his worst moments. The room was barren of decoration, a soft brown wood the only real "color". To his left was the wall itself, and to hit right, some feet away was another bed like his own.
The straw bed, possibly more uncomfortable than simply lying on the ground, was cloaked in a soft white sheet. Beneath the sheet was a humanoid form, and judging by the blood blemishing the blanket so massively it wasn't much of a stretch to imagine it was a corpse. At the foot of the bed was a larger desk, on which Setbu could only make out a single item.
Hidden beneath the black cloth, the large cylinder was completely obscured from view. What it might be was a guess at best, but Setbu figured it being a jar of some sort, though its contents where as much a mystery as the starts above. The thatch roof let only the smallest hint of the sky through, but Setbu could still tell it was daylight. He wasn't sure how long he'd been out, but judging from the freshness of the stings on his head and face it couldn't have been too long.>>

<<Setbu turned as he heard the movement outside the door of the hut, and his mind reeled. So far his deception had worked, but if the doctor inquired about anything, even so small as his name, it would all be over. His body was still too broken to fight, he was gearless and without support. To make matters worse he couldn't even be 100% sure where he was.
His thoughts raced as he discarded the options, leaving only deceit; one which wasn't entirely practical. Had he planned for extended time behind enemy lines he'd have taken time to learn the culture. He'd know names, places, major events. He'd be acquainted with the local foods and styles, and given time to prepare even able to make a convincing show of it all. But none of what he WOULD do mattered now.
He didn't know anything about the local nomenclature, and even if he got the most extreme of lucks on his side they'd run his name against the list of assigned shinobi and quickly be found out. The door creaked open and Setbu's head pounded. The bruises and cuts from the collapse had left their mark on his face and forehead, but thankfully his internals all seemed ok.
And then he had a plan.
Closing his eyes, feigning sleep Setbu lay back down and waited. Finally a tall elderly man stepped in, and even through the tiniest slits in his eyes Setbu could see the man was no "senior citizen". His body was aged, spots developing in several places, his hair an ivory white, the unmistakable lines of wrinkles and crow's feet, but his grace told all. His body was lean, his posture perfect.
One didn't even need to see the head band attached to his waist to know this man had shinobi training. Judging from the white clothing, his comfort in the room, and the obvious conditions under which they'd met Setbu also assumed this to be a medical ninja. Gulping softly, both for the first step of his act and to steady himself before beginning Setbu allowed his eyes open slowly, and again scan the room.
The Medical-nin made no motion of surprise, instead simply nodding as he drew a nearby stool beside Setbu's bed. Taking a seat he wrote something on a pad of paper before setting that aside. His hands moved deftly, and Setbu found himself wondering if that was shinobi or surgeon's training at work, but the glass of water the elderly man pressed to his lips prevented him from even speaking.
As the cold, clean water found its way down Setbu's throat he found himself increasingly thirsty, and wondered how long it had been since he'd last eaten or drank anything. Halfway finished the glass was removed, allowing Setbu to lie back down with a grown. He touched his head lightly, looking around the room again to take in every last detail incase this did come down to a battle.
At last the man spoke. His voice was kind, yet firm, grandfatherly in every detail. His tone was even and calm, so as not to startle or scare. It was the practiced kind of voice, but it told Setbu a great deal. The first was that the man assumed Setbu's mind might have been hurt, which meant so far his plan was working.>>
Medical-nin: "You've given us quite the scare over the past few hours young man. Heart transplants are a tricky business to begin with, but adding mismatched donors and still preventing rejection is not easy feat!"
<<Setbu's eyes grew wide. He'd seen triage in the past, doctor's sacrificing one patient to save another. His time in ordinance disposal had seen too much of it, and heart transplants had been part of that. But he'd only seen them done with donors who where compatible, the mere idea of actually transplanting a heart from someone who didn't match blood types borderline awe inspiring.
Setbu again looked to the nearby corpse, curious as to who might have died to save his won life.>>
Medical-nin: "That's the man who attacked you in the woods. Judging by his clothing he's from Sunagakure, no doubt an attack on us to prevent completion of our bridge"
<<His mind locked up. How could he have been so stupid, he pretty had much told them EXACTLY who was responsible for the attack. If they spread the word shinobi from Sunagakure attacked them unprovoked it could start an all out war! But, as if in his mind the old man continued on>>
Medical-nin: "Too bad we can't even retaliate either...the bridge was a secret project to give us quicker access through the land of fire. With it we'd be able to undercut Konohagakure on bids more missions, and even launch surprise attacks...if we admit we where building it no one would blame them for attacking us. Kinda the way the cookie crumples, huh?
Not that it much matters, right now you need to worry about healing, and resting as much as possible. Take some pride in the fact the man who'd tried to kill you just saved your life!"
Setbu: "Tried to kill me...I don't understand, why woul-"
Medical-nin: "I was afraid you might have hit your head a little hard on the way down, you've developed amnesia. No worries, your brain itself is fine, I'm sure you'll get your memories back soon."
<<With that the man rose and stepped towards the door quietly. Setbu took his advice and laid back down, the darkness again surrounding him. So far so good. Now he just hoped his luck would last.>>

<<Setbu awoke the next day to the strangest sensation in his chest. It was like molten fire pushing through his heart and out into his body, but it wasn't the pain. He'd been burned, blown up, stabbed, impaled, and had countless bones broken in the past, many of which where in the past 72 hours. No, what surprised him was the lack of pain.
The fire inside of him didn't hurt, it felt as natural as anything possibly could. Shaking the confusion out of his mind he sat up, slowly, the pain much less than only yesterday. Content that the medical shinobi had skill not only in surgery but also in recovery Setbu sighed. He was still clueless as to his own whereabouts, and even if Nobaku had made it back to the village no doubt Setbu would be presumed dead.
There was no rescue crew coming, he had to figure a way out of this situation himself.
Focusing, Setbu heard the noises outside his door once more and again the elderly medical-nin entered. On his back was a small backpack, much like the one most shinobi used to carry their personal combat tools. Setting it beside the bed he retook his seat upon the stool before reaching down, and producing a tray of food from within.
He set it before Setbu silently, nodding for the still wounded patient to eat. Again obeying Setbu gorged himself on the simple meal of corn, bread, and some form of rice he'd never tried before. Only moments later the food was finished, but Setbu felt satisfied, and looked down at the bag once more.>>
Medical-nin: "You're still pretty banged up, and as much as I would like to let you get up and stretch your legs I think we both agree that's not exactly feasible. So I brought you some entertainment..."
<<Smiling the man produced a series of large books from the bag, and set them upon the counter nearest Setbu's bed. It was easily within reach and Setbu read the title of each carefully. The names only gave a clear indicator of the contents, a series of arts and crafts.
Reaching out Setbu picked up the first, a book on origami. Reading over the first page he chuckled. He'd seen paper used to level buildings, contain information and as a medium to store are, but it seemed his convalescence might give him the time to learn to use it as art itself.
Next on the list was a lengthy book of knots. Setbu was puzzled, as he'd always believed a knot was a knot. So long as it held together he'd always assumed he'd done it right but for a book to be that large there had to simply be more to the process, and he found himself mildly curious.
The third book was entirely based on wood carving. He'd used a similar one before, when learning to craft marionettes, but this one was so in-depth. It explained the different tools and styles, ways to culture and harden wood as well as fuse it together with wood to create tools, or in the shinobi realm weapons.
Quietly he set the books back, deciding to look through the rest later as the old man was already pulling something else from the pack. Beside the books he left a large stack of colored papers, several lengths of cord with each one a varying degree of size and flexibility, and a block of wood with a tiny carving tool. Nodding understandingly the doctor rose and left the room, leaving Setbu the time needed to decide which one to start with.
It was quiet, and peaceful, and Setbu wasn't entirely sure exactly how to even begin. It was a new day, and so long as nothing changed he actually stood something of a chance of surviving this. Smiling, Setbu lifted the origami book once more, settling in for a good solid read.
The present:
Setbu awoke in the hot spring, the night air soft on his skin with a smile on his face. The sleep had been nice, the memories forever locked away quietly within him. It was all in his mission report, of course, but it was the little details of the weeks after his surgery that had made such a difference.
Stepping from the spring, he made his was slowly to the locker room, quickly regaining his clothes before strolling down the well lit streets of Konohagakure. He found himself, very quickly in fact, near a familiar sake bar. Chuckling as he entered he even caught sight of two women he'd not seen in months, he settled into a booth with a wink.
Within seconds they'd joined him, smiling, giggling, and asking rapid questions about where he'd been. They explained they wanted to be mad he'd never called, but where so glad he was alright. They wanted to know all the details of his "dangerous ninja missions", and asked if he was still going to show them his "secret techniques". Chuckling, Setbu interrupted them>>
Setbu: "Calm down now ladies, have I got a story for you...."
((Eight months later complete))
Very good Rev. It was a good read and an interesting start to your training. The writing was well done, I couldn't find many errors. And those that were made were very small in nature, nothing to fret over. Such as:
...and ass the "injured Setbu" vanished in a puff of smoke...
Again, minor things that everybody makes. So again, don't worry too much about it... Your grammar, from my perspective, was also good. No great errors or anything like that.
My one concern is that all these events seem to be excessively advanced for a new gennin to be performing. Entering enemy territory, sabotage, combat with presumably higher tier shinobi... all things that would add up to a "B" or higher, ranked mission. Such aren't things a kage would send a gennin on without valid reason. However, in the situation I did like the way you avoided combat whenever possible and when you did fight, it was reasonable. And because it was a pretty good read, I'll let it slide...
Approved
Now, concerning XP...
Good training - 1-3 points (must demonstrate advancing in what you are training or learning something new [jutsus don't count]). Must be written well and have some form of story behind it.
We never actually see any real development, as this is the first time your character appears in the SoS outside the academy... I will award you 1 point for the good story that, in essence, was the whole thing. There also isn't really enough here to qualify this as an "un-official" mission, so we can't give you points for that...
+1 XP
Good start... I look forward to seeing what Setbu has in store for us in the future...

<<Laughing and bustling the trio burst into Setbu’s small home. The dust still covered most of it, but neither of the girls seemed to notice as they pulled him along, joking and poking him as they went. Both, though, where awe struck as they entered the main room of his home.
Along every inch of the roof hung a small origami crane, the bookshelves where filled with countless frogs, fortune telling devices, and other paper creations. The room seemed vibrant and alive with motion, even as Setbu leaned forward and kissed one of the twins suddenly, while the other just stood in awe of the room.>>
Twin 1: “Did you make all of these?”
<<Setbu, laughing as he broke the kiss, looked to the dumbfounded girl with a chuckle.>>
Setbu: “Yes, every last one. I was bored, and secluded to my home while my last mission’s reports where taken and verified. Didn’t have much else to do really…”
Twin 2: “How did you learn to make them so well?
Setbu: “Well, there’s a story in and of itself…”
Making wishes
Eight months ago:
<<Setbu smiled as he turned the pages of the book, slowly absorbing the information. Finally, after almost an hour of silent reading, he picked up a sheet of paper and began the precise folding as the book instructed. Seconds later where paper had been now stood a massively deformed frog.
One leg shorter than the other, the sickly creation couldn’t even manage a suitable hop. Nonetheless, Setbu tried time and time again. Before the doctor even came in to provide a small lunch the bed and floor where filled with various paper frogs, many of the freshest ones looking far more like the instructions claimed. Smiling, the doctor sat beside the recuperating shinobi and chuckled.
Sighing, Setbu set aside the latest one, exactly how the instructions said it should. Pressing his finger to the bottom, the doctor laughed as the creation leapt forward before setting the try of food in Setbu’s lap.>>
Medical-nin: It’s good to see your fingers are still working, I was afraid the damage might have been permanent. Glad to see I was wrong. In any case, keep practicing; you’ll need the full dexterity of your fingers back for your training!”
Setbu: “Training? I don’t understand…”
Medical-nin: “Well, even with your memory gone your body should remember your original abilities and techniques, but right now any attempts at using them is going to be horribly painful…”
<<Setbu’s mind froze. His jutsu, all of it, was erased if what this doctor was telling him was true….such a thing…it couldn’t…>>
Medical-nin: “Let me explain. Your heart is the center for chakra production, it controls the flows, creates the pulses, even the type of it is determined by your heart. During the attack your actual heart was damaged, so I had to….replace it. Now, that means your chakra is different now, and your body is going to have to relearn it all, from the start….just like how someone who is in a horrible accident needs to learn to walk.
The origami should help you learn the intricacies of your hand signs again, just picture each fold of the paper as a movement for seals. Within a few days your hands should be ready again…I think you’ll be fine, once you get the hang of it!”
<<Seeing Setbu was finished with his meal, the elderly man took the tray, leaving behind a fresh stack of paper and slowly left the room. As he approached the door, he paused, looking to Setbu.>>
Medical-nin: “There is a legend among this small village that whoever folds a thousand cranes will be blessed with a single wish…they have a festival coming up soon, perhaps you could thank them for the use of this facility by giving them all one wish?”
<<Looking down, Setbu nodded. Cranes where next on his list anyway, and this presented him with a much needed opportunity. Smirking he nodded, before again resuming his work on the frogs.>>

<<Night fell over the village, and Setbu had tolerated several more visits from the medical-nin. Each one had only served to solidify what he’d caught earlier. This wasn’t a hidden village, filled with shinobi and enemies waiting to hunt him down. It was a fishing village, the only inhabited area within miles of the destroyed bridge. The man who’d been treating him had been stationed here during the construction as a token of appreciation to the villagers for acting as a hub.
The village was a supply point, and storage point, for the construction project, and what’s more they’d already volunteered to continue the agreement for the bridge to be reconstructed. From what the doctor had been bragging about earlier (with much excitement) double if not triple the work force would be devoted to the project. The guards would be tripled, if not more, making a secondary stealth attack impossible.
Setbu had cursed the idea internally earlier, but now he relished the opportunity. He was positioned to stop the bridge before it began, to shut down this hub of activity and escape simultaneously. But it all had to work perfectly, and he couldn’t be caught…
Slipping from his room Setbu moved slowly and quietly. He didn’t have his chakra or jutsu, but this was a village of normal people, and he did have ninja training. Moving from shadow to shadow, slipping into, and sometimes over, structures and obstacles he made his way easily to the storage room. He almost felt the need to laugh as he examined the unguarded barn, slipping inside unopposed.
They obviously felt that all attacks on the bridge where considered successful and ended, and where it not for Setbu’s injuries they’d have been right. Such sloppiness had allowed him and Nobaku to enter the bridge and destroy it so easily, and now where going to allow Setbu his last chance of survival. Quietly he sorted through the materials, checking each box for its contents.
It only took half an hour’s searching the poorly organized heap to find his prize. A series of boxes, each filled with exploding tags. No doubt cheaper than blasting gel and caps, plus infinitely easier to transport the village funding the bridge was using them to clear landscape in record times. Producing a set of paper from inside of his britches, ironically a gift from the doctor, Setbu took a small portion of each box and replaced it with blank paper.
It would pass an inspection at first glance, but the second they did a full count the gig was up. Thankfully no one would be doing that until construction was ready to resume, and since his plan would be long and over by then it didn’t much matter. Replacing the boxes Setbu slipped from the building, easily returning to his room unnoticed. His body ached, such a short trip was still exhausting, but there was work to be done.
Lifting a single sheet of paper, he slid a tag into the central part, the same part that folded to be the thickest on the crane’s body. Quickly he folded the paper, as he had been all day, taking care to hide each line a little better than before, until no sign of the tag existed. Nodding as he scanned the bird he set it aside. Again he repeated the process, several times more, until at least ten birds sat in perfection near him. Satisfied with his progress Setbu lay back down and readied for sleep. It was going to be an interesting next few weeks>>

<<As the first beams of sun broke through Setbu’s room he rose, fresh and alert. He had a task to complete, and he was more than determined. He moved his fingers with what already seemed like practiced ease, and in only the time between sunup and his morning checkup he had already created a few dozen extra of his own style of crane. He paused, finishing one quickly as the door opened, and the doctor entered.
There was no idol chitchat, just a brief exam, a warm smile and then Setbu was alone again. Realizing that at any point he might be found out the Sunagakure native began alternating, only creating a troubled bird every fifth or sixth one. Each one came faster, and cleaner than the one before it, and Setbu smiled as he saw what the doctor had meant.
He could by no means move his seals like he did before, at least not yet, but he felt much improved already. Setting the birds aside he stood, and very carefully practiced the memorized hand seals.>>
Kawarimi no jutsu
<<Where Setbu had been standing was now one of the small mobile tables, and the young ninja smiled from his own bed. The doctor was right, this training was beginning to help and he was grateful for it. By the time the day of the festival, he might actually be able to perform his ninjutsu like a gennin again. Laughing at his own timidity he practiced the jutsu again, and again and again, until at last he felt he was at least at academy rank.
As the doctor entered with lunch, looking at Setbu oddly, Setbu felt satisfied at his progress for the day. The doctor had said that folding a thousand cranes would grant you a single wish; it seemed that might just be the case. He’d wished for a way out, and these cranes where providing it nicely.
The present
Setbu smiled as the girls dotted on him, touching his shirt where the scars where, amazed at how brave he'd been, trapped behind enemy lines. Even Setbu was a little shocked neither noticed his complete lack of talent, but then again these two where not wanted for their thinking capacities.
Smiling wide, Setbu promised to tell them of his daring escape, and return another time. Afterall, they had come to see his secret technique, and the night wouldn’t last forever>>
((End of Making Wishes))
Once again, your writing on this one is nice. There are no overt mistakes, either in spelling nor in grammar. Even smaller mistakes were virtually non existent. However, as you stated in your request for approval, it was short. Almost dangerously short if you ask me. In fact, your final post only contains 400 words and the minimum requirement for a training day is 500. Thus your post is too short. Your writing, grammar and rp'ing sense is good. However the length and the content within both the individual post, and the whole section, need to be increased. What you had the first time was excellent, I would really like to see some more of that sort of length.
Now to the good news and bad news. The good news, is that what you have is approved. Setbu's increase in Finger Dexterity and Origami will carry on. Now it is time for the bad news. Because the entire section of training was only three posts long, coupled with the fact that one of them was under the minimum word count, means that you won't be eligible for any XP gain for this training session. A little more length in your next session and I can almost guarantee that you will be rolling in XP in no time...
Setbu Obtains:
Increased Finger Dexterity
Learned Origami
