OoC: I haven't done this in a while, so it might be a little rough at first...

--The sound of heavy breathing echoed threw the forest as a young figure darted between the trees. The wind blew past him as he made his way to the lake. He finally reached it. With an excited breaths, he gasped for air.--

Ryo: Where is he?

--"He", was the man he met in Hidden Village, who had promised to train him. He scanned the surface of the blue water, looking for the familiar face.--

???: So, you've finally emereged from the woods..

--His head automatically swivled to the source of the voice, his neck cracking at the speed. He winced, but continued to look for the source.--

???: Lets see what i've gotten myself into..

--He turned around and found a man in a green overcoat. It loosely swayed in wind. The man was crouched on a newly grown tree. It was Seiyuuki, master of the art of wood manipulation.--

Seiyuuki: It's time for you to start your real training...

OoC: bart has given me permission to use Seiyuuki

-- A heavy sigh escaped Ryo's mouth as he continued to punch away at Seiyuuki. He had a wide stance, with his right arm continuing to jab at the clone that his mentor had created. His left arm hanged loosely at his side.--

Seiyuuki: Your punches need to be harder!

-- Seiyuuki was sitting on a nearby branch, his loose clothing swaying in the wind. He sat up right on the branch. He had thousands of other things to concern himself, but he choose to help train the you Genin because of a request from a certain someone... He was drinking something while he showered Ryo with cold glances.--

Ryo: Arg!

Seiyuuki: I don’t understand it, he only uses his right arm..

-- Ryo gave a cry of frustration, and swung his entire body right, hiting the clone with his left arm. The clone exploded into a shower of water as his arm swung through. Adrenaline rushed through his body, and excitment welled in his stomach. He looked smuggly at Seiyuuki, only to find him gone from his branch.--

-- Seiyuuki instantly appeared next to him and pulled his sleeve up in one smooth, fluid motion. His curiousity could no longer be contained as he examined Ryo's left arm. He had already assumed that Ryo had a wooden arm, but it still surprised him.--

Seiyuuki: I see...

-- The only real part of Ryo's left arm was his shoulder. The rest of his arm was made of wood. The wood jutted out a inch or two beneath his elbow joint. His wood was a brilliant mahagony brown, and excellently crafted. He let the sleeve fall back into place as an idea suddenly popped into his head.--

Seiyuuki: Well, you can't use most Jutsu's, however there you do have potential. What you need to do is learn how to manipulate wood. I'm sure you get where I’m going with this?

-- Ryo could only smile.--

Seiyuuki: Okay, lemme teach you how to create...

Seiyuuki: Your chakra naturally mixes, so you shouldn't have that much trouble producing wood. It might be difficult on your first time, but afterwards, it will be as natural as talking.

-- Seiyuuki was once again on his branch. He watched with semi curious eyes on his new student.--

Ryo: Ok!

-- Ryo formed a single-handed seal, beginning to create his chakra. He had done this millions of times before. The energy began in his stomach, and then began to circulate through out his entire body. He mentally moved the chakra into a small point in his right hand.--

Ryo: It's not working..

Seiyuuki: Keep trying. I don’t remember me being this nagy when I was learning how to use Mokuton.

-- Ryo once again attempted to use his bloodline, with no luck. --

Seiyuuki: Try this; it helped me when I was starting off. Channel your chakra into dirt as kind of "kick-start"...

-- Ryo nodded and picked up dirt from the forest ground. It was cold and damp in his hands. He concentrated his chakra into it. At once it began to turn into a muddy substance. When he stopped channeling chakra into it, it solidified and turned into a block of wood. Ryo stared in shock at it.--

Seiyuuki: And there you go: a piece of wood. It saves chakra to use earth or pre-existing wood, but you can make it without base materials.

Ryo: Sounds good, but how do I change the shape?

Seiyuuki: Its easy, let me show you...

Ok, I like to read your training cause Seiyuuki is actually my first char ever. But I'd like it if you would explain a bit more. Not only

He does that, and that happens. maybe more

he does that, feels that, thinks that, the feels this, and this happens. When it happens, he feels this, and looks like this, and thinks that...

would be nice. thank you!
(It's just CC, it's yours to take or not)

Seiyuuki: You need good chakra control for this. You need to channel more chakra into the wood you created, and then you shape it.

-- Seiyuuki thought of how he learned how to use Mokuton. He smiled at the fond memories.

Ryo: That makes sense...

-- Ryo focused chakra back into the piece of wood. It once again turned into a muddy substance. Beads of sweat began to form on his forehead as he concentrated on changing the shape of the piece of wood. He managed to make it stretch into a long needle. He smiled as he began to play with the piece of wood, changing its shape into different objects.--

-- Seiyuuki had himself made a piece of wood, and was making more detailed sculptures than Ryo could ever hope to make. Ryo pretended not to notice as Seiyuuki showed his mastery of the Arts.--

Seiyuuki: He has already gotten the hang of it. He really does have potential. Stop for a second. Before you run out of chakra, I want you to try something. Channel chakra into your wooden arm and see if you can change its shape. You will probably only be able to change it a little bit, but still.

-- Ryo panted heavily and put his right hand on his arm. He channeled chakra into his arm, focusing it in one spot. A long, sharp needle rose out of his arm. He fell to his knees from exhaustion and chakra depletion.--

Seiyuuki: Well that’s start. That’s enough for today.

-- Seiyuuki looked at the setting sun. He stopped talking: Ryo had already passed out from exhaustion. He smiled as he picked up the genin and began to walk him towards his home.--

haha! Sei is awesome, as ever!
Hey I like the idea of changing your arm into things! It's awesome!

Approved man, approved!

But, you will have to practice wood manipulation, ok, try adding some more in your training please, the add were cool, but your char should struggle a bit more

-- Ryo looked at the ground in amazement. Before him law a ton of equipment that he had no idea what to do with. He had already separated it into groups, with the projectiles separated from hand-held weapons such as tanto's. A bird chirped in the distance. Ryo looked around the forest, trying to find the source of the chirping.--

Ryo: Now, what to do first?

-- Ryo immediately picked up the Feather Armor, and put it on. He looked at the description of it on the tag.--

A vest as light as can be, yet with considerable protective properties. Made from a material comparable to asbestos and based on the principle of the chain mail, it allows for easy movement and gives the wearer the assurance that projectiles do not penetrate as deeply as they would without this vest. High maneuverability, protective value and the light weight make it a rather useful acquisition.

Ryo: This will come in handy one day.

-- Ryo pulled his longed sleeve shirt over the vest. He then looked at the different types of swords. They were all short, but he had no need for a katana, or anything of that length. There were four of them, a tanto, Himagatana, and a pair of Jitte. These weapons of slaughter laid peacefully on the ground. Each of their blades was translucent, with a gray tint.--

Ryo: Diamond bladed hmm?

-- He put the Himagatana in its holster, and put it on his back. He looked at the other equipment. He really had no use for the Jitte's, and he doubted he would use the daggers that much. He put them with the rest of his equipment, and attached the tanto underneath his shirt. --

Ryo: Okay, this should do, but I’ll need to find another place for the tanto.

-- It was still early in the morning. He looked at the 2 jutsu scrolls that were in front of him.--

Ryo: I guess I could try one of these...

-- Behind him, his mentor and teacher Seiyuuki instantly appeared. He had been watching Ryo with keen interest. He waited for Ryo to turn around.--

-- Ryo sensed someone behind him and quickly turned, coming face to face with Seiyuuki. He had an expectant look on his face.--

Seiyuuki: Ha! You think you could perform those jutsu's? You can't even walk on tree's...

-- Sei’s hands were a blur as they moved seamlessly from one seal to another. There was a small glint of excitement in his eyes as he struck the ground with his palm. Within seconds, a large tree began to grow out of the ground, right in front of Sei.--

-- Ryo stared in amazement as the tree reached the same height as the other, naturally grow, trees. It soon slowed to a stop. Ryo’s jaw dropped in awe. Sei stepped out from behind the tree, a smug smile on his face.--

Sei: Okay, time for some real training. You can never hope to master Mokuton Techniques if all you do is sit around. I want you to walk up this tree.

Ryo: Walk… up this tree?

-- Without any effort, Sei stepped onto the tree, and began to make his trip up the smooth bark. He walked confidently, as if he had done it million of times before. He turned around and yelled back at Ryo.--

Sei: Give it a try.

-- Ryo looked at the tree, and then at Sei. He figured that the secret to walking up the tree had something to do with chakra. He quickly began to make chakra, and send it too his feet.--

Ryo: The only contact I will be making is with my feet, so if I send my chakra there…

-- Sei nodded as he saw Ryo going through the motions of figuring out how to walk up the tree. He moved to a branch and sat down. He was looking forward to watching Ryo attempt to walk up the tree.--

Ryo: Here I go..

-- Sei sat on his branch, half watching Ryo. He was more focused on the memory he had whipped up, when he himself was a genin and was trying to walk up a tree. He smiled to himself, the memory was so old it seemed almost foreign in some ways.--

-- Ryo gathered a large amount of chakra into his feet. He used his right hand to form a seal while he concentrated on generating his chakra and sending it through his body, down to the soles of his feet. He was about 2 and half feet from the base of the tree.--

Ryo: Here we go, just need to stay calm...

-- He slowly walked toward the tree, his eyes shut tightly. He breathed deeply, feeling the wind and smelling the various scents of nature. He mentally counted down the distance between him and the tree as he approached it. At long last he reached the tree, and placed his right foot onto the smooth bark. He kept it there for a second, and then tentatively placed his left foot on the tree.--

-- Ryo was not prepared what came next. First there was a spine chilling crack underneath his right foot. He then loss all sense of balance, and then a sharp pain in his back and head. He opened his eyes to see the world turned upside down. He got onto his feet, while brushing himself off, and examined the tree. There was a deep indent in the bark from where his right foot was.--

Ryo:.. Too much?

-- Ryo gave an angry glare at Sei, who was looking dreamily into the distance. He sighed. He was a bit upset, but he was determined to get the trick of walking on a vertical surface.--

-- Sei snapped out of his trance long enough to put his hand back on the tree, and channel chakra into it. He was then thrown right back into his past as a young Genin.--

Ryo: Okay, maybe a different approach..

-- The footprints that Ryo had created in the tree dissolved, and soon the tree was back to normal. Ryo once again calmed himself. This time letting the sound of rushing water fill his head. He had steadied himself; this time he was a more than a couple feet away from the tree. He charged his feet with chakra, and then shot at the tree. The world around blurred as he got closer and closer. --

Ryo: Using my momentum to get up the tree…

-- Sei was old memory gently disappeared, and he slowly was re-introduced back into the present. He felt the chakra that his young student had amassed, and was now watching him charge at the tree. He was in a much better mood than he was when they had first started. He watched in approval as Ryo reached the tree, and made it halfway to where he sat. --

Ryo: Ouf

-- Ryo replayed his last attempt in his head as he laid on the floor. As he reached the midpoint of the tree, his foot slipped of the bark, as one’s foot would slip on ice. This mental movie also played back the sharp squeak that he had created. His gave a little shudder, but remained on task. What was he missing? He knew he needed the right mix of momentum and chakra.--

Ryo: More chakra then!

-- Sei’s eagle like eyes saw the glint of victory in Ryo’s eyes, and knew that Ryo had figured out the true key of climbing the tree. He also knew, however, the vast amount of chakra Ryo had used to get to this point, and wondered if the boy would make it. He once again remembered the first time he over exerted himself. It was on this very exercise. He was confident that the boy would make it, but he gathered his chakra just in case… --

-- Ryo was once again moving at top speed. His muscles ached and his joints cracked at the abuse he had put them through. He let his arms dangle lifelessly behind him, and bent forward to pick up as much speed as possible. He was also storing the chakra at the soles of his feet. As he reached the tree, he let the initial blast of charka out of his right foot, propelling himself up the shaft of the tree. He passed the midpoint of the tree, but he felt himself loosing his momentum so he let out the final blast of chakra from his left foot..--

-- Sei saw the wisp of blue chakra spiral out of Ryo’s left foot and watched him fly past his branch. Sei quickly made some hand seals and appeared on the ground of his grand tree. A second later the tired Ryo fell into arms. –

Sei: Ha, just how I did it…

Ok, time for some approval with some CC!

Ok, so i read through this last bit, from where bart approved your training... So, in this time, what did you learn?

Skills learnt:
Tree Walking (basic)

Attributes Improved:
Chakra Control (moderate)
Chakra Pool (slight)

So, yes, it is approved. However, i'm gonna throw some CC your way, if you don't mind. If you do, then ignore the next bit.

Firstly... the equipment justl ying around? I gather this is your reward from the xmas mission.... but man, i was like 'wtf'. I feel you could have taken a much more creative approach to that one.

Secondly, a mistake you make a lot... when writing, you dont put a comma before the word 'and'
He put them with the rest of his equipment, and attached the tanto underneath his shirt.
The comma there is not needed (you made this mistake in several places)

He then loss all sense of balance
losss - lost

This time letting the sound of rushing water fill his head.

I believe this is not a complete sentance. I would have figured there should be a comma betwee 'time' and 'letting', to allow the '
letting the sound of rushing water fill his head' to become a subclause, but if that was your intention, then the main clause is not complete.

Sei was old memory gently disappeared, and he slowly was re-introduced back into the present.

I sort of see what you intended with this sentence, but the first bit makes little to no sense and requires some rephrasing

as he laid on the floor

WHO?! :p
As he lay on the floor, otherwise he's busy humping someone on the floor! :p

but he felt himself loosing his momentum

loosing - losing

I'm pretty sure there are a few typo's i've missed, but that's not too important :)

All in all, not too bad, you did learn this pretty fast. One attempt to run into it, once with too much chakra and third time, you're halfway. not too much of a creative shot at it, but i can't say it wasn't well written. You don't write a lot, but there is something in your writing that lures one to keep reading.

So, good work, keep it up.

Training Approved!
I'll award you 1XP for this training session.
