I am currently taking an online History class.. it's History since the 1340's to present times. Our assignment was on Genocide and this is what I wrote...
Okay so I will be talking a bit about the genocide in Darfur, but before that let me post some reliable links

These links are reliable because they do not end in dot com and i think any links that end in ORG or NET are reliable.

Now, the website our teacher provided us about Genocide separates it into "two elements". The first element is "The mental element" and the second is "The physical element"". I think that the people in Darfur are facing a horrible time and their government is treating them horribly and brutally. I think that the mental element ALWAYS accompanies the physical element and plays a large role on people's morale. Human beings should not be treated the way they are. Such imposed sets of action limit the community and the people as individuals to develop and live a normal life. They will always be haunted by the nightmares of their parents and the darkness and endless fear they had to endure.

ON THE OTHER HAND, the Khartoum Government [if my sources are correct] took such disciplinary measures because "two Darfurian rebel groups launched an uprising against the Khartoum government" (Website #2, Genocide in Darfur) The government acted rationally to put down the rebels and teach everyone a lesson that their power is not one to mess with. The same website also states that "Darfur region of Sudan is home to racially mixed Muslim tribes" and the Genocide link provided states that "In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group" and since those groups in Darfur are "racially mixed Muslims" then it cannot be TECHNICALLY called Genocide but just mass murder.


I said .Org and .Net websites are reliable beacuse I didn't want to be detailed as to WHY they are reliable because in my opinion no site is TRULY reliable since they might be bending info to each government's liking or whatever... Thats not the point. What I am really pissed about is that the teacher gave me a zero on the assignment for some reason. She sent me an E-mail saying how she is concerned with the way I use the term "civilized" and I went over my post and can't find that term anywhere (if i missed it then i feel dumb right now) She also sent me a reply saying that Wikipedia ends in .Org and THAT is not a reliable source... Im really willing to tell her off right now seeing as I'm just pissed at my school in general, especially at the liberal teachers there. I am not good at debating, maybe I should ask Arty to write a nice argument for me :].

PS : I just found out that i got a zero for the assignment because it was 3 min late.... O_O

Hm, that's a pity, being three minutes too late. Your teacher should have made an exception with that. Perhaps it was her way of not having to deal with your point of view in more detail. I would have liked to have read her justification for a grade she would have given you if you hadn't been 3 minutes late.

Uhhh... so here is another night spent staying up late and listening to random songs. Some stupid infomercial is on the TV about a foldable piano. Crazy TV people. Nways, school is finally over for me and I'm officially on winter break. Can't say that I did my worst this semester (my first) but I definitely didn't do my best. I have many excuses floating in my head about my lack of effort... one mainly being "Ill do better next semester" which is kinda good I think since I'm preparing myself to do better? Who knows...

This saturday I will probably be starting to work... (need money, lol, who doesnt huh?) Either way, I'm starting to work and hopefully ill get more hours and make more money and save up enough to get the car of my dreams (and then I just might go pick someone up, since i said i might)

Usually I am very excited about Christmas season and such and I am definitely happy this year as well, but I will most likely be spending Christmas and New Years alone since my mom has to work, my dad will prolly do his own thing (not that i wanna be there nways) and my friends are gone or with family. I'm trying to talk one of my buddies into going up to the mtns. to see some snow but he is bitching about it being cold and him not having any sweaters (I dont blame him... I blame this stupid weather) My last option is to go over my other friend's house and get wasted to the point of no return (not that i wanna but i dont wanna be alone)... Sounds like a plan. I will wash away my guilt (if i have any *thinks*) and the new year will bring happiness and pain.

I have definitely been in a good mood, but something lays heavy on my mind that I keep thinking about. This thought makes me want to drop everything im doing, and just run. This city, school, and the people here have really gotten on my nerves. I don't even want to think spending two years here and then 6 more in SD (even further away from...)

Im just waiting for the day to finish school. Once i get my degree I'm leaving this place and going somewhere else (hopefully shell be waiting for me but such thoughts are surely just my mind trying to fill the voids) Either way, I wanna get out of here... My heart always belonged to winter and it will do me good to run around in snow all day. I really hope ill keep contact with certain ppl till after I graduate.. so i can go see them and spend time with them...

Well today a part of me has died, does that mean an angel lost its wings or is unable to fly? I dont know but i sure hope not. I dont want someone suffering because of my troubles. It doesnt matter that the time spent was one of my happiest. In fact, a tear has been shed over my death. I never expected it to be this way, i thought this would just happen and i would go on. But it is hard to let go of something dear to you. In conclusion, i didnt try hard enough to prevent such a tragedy from happening but it cannot be helped.

Well I'm happy (for myself) to say that everything has been going great for the past few weeks. I'm not slacking at school and doing my HW and turning it on time. My classes are semi-boring but I make the best of them and try to participate in discussions. My English class is really fun; mostly because we read a lot of literature about Los Angeles and discuss what we've read. I have learned many things from that class and its barely the 3rd week. I bet not many of you knew that in the 1920's California was once the top world supplier of oil.

Besides school my social life isn't that blooming. I am stuck home most of the week doing HW and resting, only to get out on the weekend with my best friend to play soccer and hang out. Not having a car and being under 21 doesn't really help my cause; LA is not a child's city and it holds true every bit.

Despite this going out on the weekends and having fun Ive been having fun talking to some people while I do my HW or just surf the intraweb. Talking to them really brings light to my eyes and some convos are as much fun as they are serious. It never hurts to have a serious talk here and there and I don't scorn the idea. I have also been reading a book i picked up from my home library and so far it has been entertaining. For some it might not seem such a big deal when they read a book but for me it is; and I am not afraid to admit (to myself) that reading is actually fun.

Well, as far as the love life goes; I cant complain and that's that...
