Hoow does the manga relate to the anime?

What i was wondering was how does it correspond?
Like does Manga Chapter ??? correspond to episode number ???

usualy 2 manga chapters = 1 episode but in shippuden it's mostly 1 chapter = one episode since its dragged out like crap
