Junlan woke up with a grim expression on his face, he hadn’t slept well. His dreams had been full of dark caves, creepy places and shinobi gifted with amazing talents. Today was the big day, he was about to fight his first big tournament, well, his first fight in fact, he hadn’t fought another shinobi since he left the academy. He tried to remember what he was thinking when he decided to enter the tournament. He had been in front of the shop window of the ninja necessities store, had seen a poster of the tournament, had gone inside to buy everything he needed to fight and he had entered the tournament, all in les than a quarter of an hour. And Why? He wasn’t ready for this yet!
Ah well, no time for regrets, he had to do what had to be done, once the battled started he wouldn’t have anymore time to doubt, he’d show his opponent that he could not be underestimated because of his small size. He checked his inventory: 5 kunai, 5 explosive papers and a smoke bomb, it wasn’t much, but it would be sufficient.
He walked towards the arena, decided to be confident. The weather however, didn’t feel like cooperating, it was a gloomy day, it drizzled and the sun seemed to be determined not to warm his muscles. Kasumi shrieked on his shoulder, noticing that Junlan was disturbed.
While comforting Kasumi he came to realise something, the cave where he was supposed to fight was dark, which meant that Kasumi would have difficulties to see well, after all, it was an eagle, not an owl. Another thing struck him while thinking, he forgot to buy a tinderbox, how the hell was he supposed to see his opponent?
(This is going to be a disaster! No, Junlan get a grip! Don’t show your opponent that you’ve got regrets, you just step in the cave, looking fully confident and sure of yourself. That’s the least you can do!)
He pulled himself together, lifted up his shoulders and stepped into the cave. Ready to face the darkness and whatever that darkness was hiding.
Opponent! Where are you! My name is Junlan and I’m here to fight you! Show yourself and show me what you’ve got!

A short boy in a black coat and pants stood infront of a large gaping hole in the world. Stalagmites jutted from the ground like teeth in this damp, dormant giant's mouth. It digested the sunlight and left nothing but darkness in its maw.
Daija prepared to plunge himself into the darkness, but there was a problem. There was only one entrance and that meant it was the perfect set up for an ambush. He could hear the wind blow through the cave carrying a faint scent of bat guano. There would have to be an echo in a cavern this size.
Daija: Echoes would make it a lot more difficult to tell a bunshin apart from a real ninja, it would also make it very difficult to avoid making noise.
The boy had fought zombies and mutant cat monsters before, another genin couldn't be that bad. The fact that his life wasn't in danger went a long way towards smothering his usually strong instincts for self-preservation that would stop him from entering any situation where he didn't have a clear advantage. Gathering himself with a deep breath, "Bunshin no Jutsu"
Three versions of the boy stood at the entrance now, hopefully this would give him the diversion needed to disappear into the darkness and even the playing field. Of course this was all a precaution incase someone was already in there. Without further delay, the three Daija's charged into the entrance and scattered in opposite directions: the left most one headed diagonally left, the middle one forward, and the right most towards the right side of the cave. If there was someone in the cave, the echoes from the splashing water and hard rock announced Daija's arrival.
Left most one is Daija
OOC: In a pouch attached at Daija's waste is a small bottle of his clan poison, 5 fukibari, 5 exploding notes, a soldier pill, and 1 kunai. He has 3 kunai in a holster around his right leg. Another fukibari is in his mouth.

Nobody had answered his challenge so Junlan had come to the conclusion that he was the first contestant to arrive. Which gave him some advantage of course, he could now scan the cave for objects he could use while fighting. The first thing he noticed was the huge amount of bats and the bat droppings that came with them. The puddles of mud consisted of something more than just water and soil, making the floor dangerously slippery.
He didn’t have time to investigate much further, as he heard someone splashing near the entrance. A boy that was entirely dressed in black stood in the entrance, blocking the light with his body, making his shape perfectly visible for anyone inside the cave, his black clothes however, would make him almost invisible in the darkness surrounding Junlan. The red-haired boy understood that now was a perfect time to observe his opponent, as he himself was still invisible in the dark, an advantage he’d lose the moment his opponent entered.
The other genin however, was prepared for the fact that Junlan might be in already. In contrast to Junlan himself he didn’t stamp his feet violently, challenging everyone in his sight. Even though he had put more thought in his entrance than Junlan, who now understood how close he had been to losing before he even started, he had forgotten one thing. He had formed his bunshins in Junlan’s sight, although the black-haired boy couldn’t see Junlan, he was still visible from the inside of the cave, as his body was blocking the light.
Junlan: (ok, so the left one is the real one, there is only one problem, he’s somewhere to the left, but I can’t figure out where exactly he is, the echoes make it almost impossible to rely on the sounds)
Throwing a kunai in a random direction, would give away his hiding spot, so that wasn't an option. On the other hand, he still had a inaccurate idea of where his opponent was, while the black-haired boy had no idea where he was hiding, a fact that he’d have to use in his advantage!
This is the point where Kasumi could come in handy. He reached into his pockets, took out an explosive tag and gave it to his eagle. Kasumi took the explosive tag in his right claw, and flew to the left of the cave, where he dropped it. Then the bird flew off and took a safe distance, even though he did not return to Junlan, because that way he didn't give away his position.
Junlan chuckled, the sounds of the bats covered Kasumi’s fluttering so the opponent couldn’t locate him and Junlan himself was mostly hidden behind a stalagmite. The explosion of the tag however, would light the left part of the cave, which would make it easier for him to locate the other genin. He took out another kunai, ready to launch it and then decided to detonate the tag.
SFX: BOOM!

As soon as Daija reached the relative safety of the darkness he put his back against a stalagmite and tried to think of a plan. The bats in the cave were getting agitated by something, his opponent must be in the cave. He started to run to the next stalagmite, to keep sheltered.
*BOOM*
Shards of rock came flying towards Daija as his pupils dilated from the sudden flash of light. Someone had set off an explosive tag close to him, he was caught out in the open for a few seconds before he could reach the stalgmite he was running to. The boy wiped his face with the back of his hand, it was moist with more than sweat, he had been cut accross his left cheek. (almost lost an eye, well atleast I know someone else is here for sure and he knows exactly where I am. He can't be in this part of the cave so...)
Daija attached an explosive tag to three of his kunai. "hmpf I can do better than just setting one off on the floor." Daija threw each of the kunai at different parts of the cave ceiling.
*BOOM BOOM BOOM*
Three consecutive explosions lit up the cave and sent rocks falling from the ceiling, and the bats swarmed in a storm of chaos.

Junlan stopped chuckling, even though he now knew exactly where the dark-haired boy was. The light of the explosion had also shown him that his opponent was attaching an explosive tag to a kunai, which meant he was about to copy his move.
Junlan: (Great, why haven’t I thought of that? He can easily copy my trick to locate me. Fortunately I’ve brought a smoke bomb, I guess I‘ll have to use it)
The red-haired genin took his smoke bomb out of his pockets and threw it a few paces in front of him. Because the smoke bomb wasn’t detonated in open air the smokescreen was very thick, covering the entire right area of the cave.
Junlan: (Now he can’t locate me, muhahaha (diabolical laughter))
SFX: BOOM BOOM BOOM
In a flash Junlan understood that his opponent did not only copy his move, he also improved it. Instead of using only one explosive tag, he used several to ruin the ceiling. Unfortunately his smokescreen didn’t protect him against that. The stalagmite he used to hide did do that, but even though it reflected the biggest boulders falling from the ceiling it wasn’t able to resist the force with which those were falling. The stalagmite broke down, falling right on his left foot. Junlan cried himself hoarse, eating a few pounds of falling dust in the meantime.
Junlan: (ok, I can still move my toes, so I haven’t broken any bones. The foot however, will prevent me from running quickly, which is exactly what I should do, as my squealing has probably given away my position)
Kawarimi no jutsu!
A boulder lying behind another even bigger boulder was an ideal object for Junlan to relocate himself, he wasn’t visible anymore as the biggest boulder hid his entire body. His foot however, didn’t seem to be willing to cooperate.
Junlan: (Great, so I’m immobile? And I can’t use the body replacement technique all the time, I can’t control my chakra well enough, I’ll run out in a blink of an eye. Guess that I’ve got only one option left, if he sees through this, I’m most likely finished!)
Bunshin no jutsu!
There was now a second Junlan standing next to him. The bunshin dragged himself behind another boulder who was lying in a corner of the cave, a few metres away from the original Junlan. One leg however, wasn’t entirely behind the boulder and the shape of the leg was clearly visible because of some burning bat droppings behind it.
Junlan took out two kunai and waited. He was hoping that the other genin would think that his bunshin was a badly injured Junlan and that the black-haired shinobi would approach the boulder to finish it. If he did that, his back would be in the direction of the real Junlan, who should have the opportunity to launch his kunai. The dodging abilities of his opponent should be blocked by the boulder and the walls of the cave. Junlan waited patiently.

Daija heard the echoing cry of pain from the opposite side of the cave. He smiled to himself and relished the guilty pleasure of hurting his opponent. Daija was not a close range fighter so charging in and trying to finish off the other genin went against his natural instincts, it was too dangerous.
"I have to do something... hmm"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out the bottle of poison he had prepared many weeks ago. Poison went well with Daija's personality, it gave him an unfair advantage against people who weren't expecting them. The boy took out his last kunai and poured the blackish liquid over the tip, and removed the fukibari from his mouth, dipped it in poison, and replaced it; being careful not to poison himself.
He gathered his courage and walked out from behind his stalagmite shield. An ambient glow from a few lingering fires lit the ceiling of the right side of the cave over an ocean of smoke, it looked like a sunrise. Daija snuck silently through the smoke until he could see again. To his suprise he could see a leg reaching out from a boulder near the corner of the cave. Daija moved quickly and moved in close, throwing the kunai at the boy behind the rock and retreating to give his poison time to act, but as he turned around right behind him was... "Shit" The whistle of the kunai screamed in Daija's ear with the quiet crackling of the dying fires, it was probably targetted at a bunshin. Daija knew this was probably the end for him, but he had one attack left up his sleeve; he spit the fukibari from his mouth at the genin who was hiding behind him... but he wouldn't be able to avoid the attack of the enemy even if his needle hit...
Ooc: The poison only causes slight dizziness if you get hit by it, and makes it so I can use my clan jutsu on you. Also, I think this is probably the end, if you think you can finish it in the next post you can submit the fight for judging.

To his surprise Junlan’s tactic seemed to work, his opponent was walking towards the bunshin, his back ready to get hit by both kunai. He recovered form his surprise, aimed well and released both of his kunai at the moment the enemy kunai hit his bunshin.
Junlan: (I’ve got him!)
Junlan was already walking towards his opponent, who could be hit any second now, when he noticed that the other genin had found the time to turn around and spit some fukibari in his direction. It seems he had waited to long to launch his kunai, he should have sent them flying before the enemy’s kunai hit his bunshin, his opponent had found time to see through his trap!
He tried to dodge the projectiles that were swarming towards him like angry bees, but accidentally put all his wait on his left foot, which made him close his eyes for a split second, gnashing his teeth in great pain. No only did that hasty action make it unable for him to see if his enemy was hit, it also brought him out of balance. He quickly tried to lean on his right foot, but it was to late, the moment he almost regained his balance, the fukibari hit him. The world was turning around. He was just thinking why the bats were walking across the floor, when his head hit the boulder he used for cover. Life, it seems, will fade away, well at least conscious did, a single thought slipped through his mind while approaching the bat droppings beneath him.
Junlan: (I wonder if I’ve hit him)
His body hit the floor, junlan was now lying face down in the dirt. Waiting for someone to flip his body and tell him the results.
OOC: I guess it’s over, we’ll let the judges decide.

*As Kaishi walked along the dirt path, giant Oaks towered over his head, providing cooling shade from the sun's intense rays. His house had already gone out of view, dissapearing in the distance, like a desert mirage. Even though the sun was unusually hot today, the weather was still as perfect as ever. The crystal blue sky sported a few white clouds here and there, just enough to block out the sun and cast a random shade now and then. Kaishi ate a hearty breakfast before departing from home, for he knew that today's battle won't be an easy one. From the minute the tournament started, Kaishi dreaded to battle in a single arena, a place where animals don't venture and light does not visit. But like sailors predicting a strom, Kaishi knew his fate would lead him to that place: The Cave of Darkness. Dark thoughts filled his head as with each footstep, he got closer and closer to the place he wished to never see.*
*The dirt path Kaishi was walking on began to widen, engulfing the trees surrounding it, and making way for itself, letting the sun bake it's muddy soil and create mozaic-like pieces of mud and dirt, scattered all about. Kaishi knew that the Cafe of Darkness was but only a few meters away, and he could already see its dark mouth, open and ready for another unsuspecting victim to wonder inside. His heart began to pound quicker, almost tearing out his chest, and the knot in his stomach became tighter than that of experienced sailors.*
Kaishi : (Don't be afraid, just relax....breathe.....that's it......you can do this ! )
*Coming up to the gaping mouth of the cave, Kaishi stared straight into the depths of it's throat, not even noticing the Jounin standing at the entrance.*
Jounin : Are you Kaishi Ozarami ??
Kaishi *A bit startled* : Y...yes that's me...
Jounin : You are the first to arrive, you may step inside and explore, before your opponent gets here...
Kaishi : (Lucky me) It's so dark in there, how am I supposed to see.... can I at least have an oil lamp??
Jounin : Back in my days, we were just thrown in there and locked, but sure I'll give you a candle to keep you warm *The Jounin chuckled and handed Kaishi a lit candle* Now go inside...
*Taking the candle in his hand, Kaishi felt hot wax dripping on his skin, but he didn't mind. With a final exhale, like an inmate on death row, Kaishi stepped into the cave.*
*Darkness suddenly engulfed Kaishi like a hungry wolf snatching its prey. The candle dimly lit up the majority of the cave, but it's depths were unreachable, even by the brightest of lights. The muddy floor , with occassional puddles of dirty water here and there, proved to be exactly what Kaishi expected it to be, dirty and slimy, it reaked like rotten eggs and fertilizer. A particularly large puddle spread itself in front of the cave entrance, provided that nobody enters without soaking their feet in the dirty water. One thing however, came to Kaishi's surprise. Beautiful Stalagmites, rose from the floor and ceiling of the cave, glittering magically as the candle's dim light softly hit them. Two stalagmites rose on Kaishi's right and left sides just as he entered the cave, both about 2 meters away from the entrance. Two more glittered dimly a bit deeper inside the cave, also positioned on the right and left sides of Kaishi, about 4 meters away from the entrance.Kaishi had more than enough equipment to end this fight quickly and get out of the Cave as soon as possible. It was hard to see past the candle's revealing light, as Kaishi did not bother to explore the depths of the cave, he was hoping to get out of there as soon as he could. He swiftly checked himself for the equipment he had with him.*
x20 Kunai, x12 Explosive Notes, x2 smoke bombs, 4 ft of tape, 100 ft of wire, x2 Kunai holsters (one on each thigh) , x2 Clay Gourds , x2 Wakisashis... All the training weights were taken off and left at home
*As soon as Kaishi stepped into the cave, he walked over to the first stalagmite on the right hand side of the entrance and attached an explosive note, using some tape, on the side facing away from the entrance. He proceeded to do the same thing with the other 3 stalagmites, attaching an explosive note on each one. He then walked over to the middle of the four stalagmites, and placed one of his Gourds on the ground, facing the entrance directly, and jammed his candle in front of the Gourd to light up the area.*
*He then made his way, back between the two stalagmites on the left of the entrance and keeping his eyes on the small speck of light in the middle of the cave, vanished into the darkness around him until he hit something hard, and feeling up on it, realized it to be another stalagmite raisied out of the ground.*
Kaishi : (This would be a good hiding place) *Kaishi thought and hid behind the stalagmite, keeping his eyes on the glittering sparkles the candle light cast off the ceiling of the cave.*
Kaishi placed another explosive note inside the Gourd on the ground, burrying it deep in the sand, so it is not visible if looked inside

*What is darkness, really? Is there a definition of darkness? Does it mean black or evil? Is it just another color, deeper than black? Is there anything deeper than black? Tis were questions that Aoba didn't know the answers to until this day. All of the questions would be answered, not in a long essay, or even a powerful speech, but in one fleeting image. An imagine that played on all five senses, an image of a dark cave with immeasurable depths. It was, the Cave of Darkness. This cave wouldn't be foreign to him after a while. He knew after he had experienced true darkness, the darkness wouldn't be so dark. That was why he had to get accustomed to it... it was where he had to fight. A skirmish between two shinobi, struggling to gain influence and power within the shinobi society. A clash of headbands, weapons, and fists... jutsu, equipment, and most of all... minds. It was a battle of strategy and determination. Aoba knew the basic principal that even if one has the strongest jutsu, he cannot defeat a cunning mind. He would be alone in the cave, darkness would surround him leaving him in solitude. Suddenly, Aoba saw a black feather fall gently from the sky landing on top of Aoba's head. Tori!*
*The bird flew from the sky, swooping over the genin in happiness. His black form stood out distinctly in the blue sky, contrasting greatly with the area around him. But ahead was somewhere which seemed much more akin to the genin and the bird. It was the cave of darkness. The black depths of the cave were even deeper in color than Aoba's cloak, his katana, and his sunglasses. The bird's black feathers also would blend in with the cave. As he stepped into the massive rock formation, he left the light behind him. He scanned the cave quickly, for he had entered from the south. He caught a glimpse of his opponent placing a tag on one of the stalagmites and slinking away into behind another of those tall rock formations. His opponent was keeping an eye on the entrance that he had walked into, but did not realize that there was an entrance from the north. He bode Tori to stay silent and the crow acknowledged him quietly. He just smiled and walked straight forward, forming a seal and disappearing into the darkness with black feathers replacing him and his crow. His eyes concentrated on the darkness in the cave. Even Aoba's proficient red eyes strained against the darkness. To his opponent, if his opponent turned around, he would only be seen for a split second in the entrance's light, then would be engulfed in darkness as he disappeared in feathers. genin made his way further and further into the cave. Along his way, he picked up a two small rocks and placed it in his pouch with the rest of his equipment. *
OoC: In case you aren't sure, I confirmed with the council that there are two entrances, and that I could take advantage of the time you took to place the explosives on the stalagmites. I am not quite sure what you did with the candle. You said you placed it on a gourd... but where's the gourd? Yeah, and IDK which entrance you came in from, north or south... I was really confused so I chose to go in through the south.
*Then quickly, as to change his position, he moved away slowly, whispering to his crow in a toungue that his opponent wouldn't understand. He muttered in such a low voice, that unless his opponent was right next to him, he/she wouldn't hear.*
Aoba: Tori, stay at the top of the cave and scan it for me. When any sign of something occurs, tell me. I'll tell you when to help me attack the opponent.
3 Fuuma Shuriken
10 Explosive Tags
1 Soldiers Pill
Training Pads left at home
Black Heirloom Katana
Karasu Gunte
*Aoba move decisively through the cave, to change his location. He moved towards his left and saw two stalagmites looming in front of him (they are the ones on the left of the south entrance of the cave) and stood in between them, hiding between the closest one and looking at the entrance, waiting for his opponent, and looking for signs of his opponent, especially sizzling explosives.*
*Aoba quietly placed an explosive tag upon his Fuuma Shuriken and placed the large ninja star upon the cave floor, making sure it wouldn't make any noise. Then he waited in stealth.
OoC: Hey.... good luck man. Let's make this good. I know we've both been really excited. Just so you know, this post may seem long, but takes very little time. All I did was entered, "shunshined (crow version)" so you have very little sight of me and made my way to the four stalagmites by the entrance. Again, good luck!
For Judges: If you see my edit (it's an edit before DC's post anyway, it was to change my entrance into the south entrance, cause I think DC meant to enter through the North. If not, then I'm sorry DC, but you didn't specify.)

OoC : I entered from the North, which i clrearly described. I also placed my Gourd and the candle in the middle of the four stalagmites.
*Kaishi sat silently behind the faintly glimmering stalagmite, his eyes and ears tuned sharply, not to miss even the faintest of sounds, or the slightest disturbance in the flickering of the candle he had placed between the four stalagmites. The cave went dead silent as Kaishi's breath was now so quiet, that it even scared him for a moment. The candle light gave off faint shadows, as it hit the four stalagmites around it,like dark monsters lurking in the cave, ready to jump on unexpecting victims. Wiht his eyes fixed on the flickering candle, Kaishi suddenly heard a faint noise in the back of the cave, opposite of him. The noise sounded like the flapping of tiny wings.
Kaishi : (Must have been a bat or something)
*After a split-second, Kaishi heard another faint noise, in the same direction as the wing-flapping. But of this noise he was certain, rocks tapping metal, his opponent was here. Kaishi did not take his eyes off the candle though, only his ears wondered about, pinpointing the faint sounds coming from the opposite direction. He noislessly removed two kunai from his holster and wrapped explosive tags around both of them, placing them in the muddy soil beneath his feet, and covered them with with the reaking mud to conceal them. He then lightly placed his palms together, and without a noise formed two seals and two Kaishi's appeared next to him*
Kaishi : (And so it begins...)
*The first Kaishi made his way toward the brief ding he had heard before, along the left wall from the North entrance, crouching almost agains the wall and letting the darkness envelop him. The second Kaishi, placing another Gourd by the spot where Kaishi hid the two explosive kunai, and made his way past the North entrance and to the right side of the cave.*
The real Kaish formed two Bunshins using the first seal, and used Henge by forming the second seal to transform himself into the Clay Gourd that was now standing where the real Kaishi was. The two Bunshins are now making their way along the right and left side of the cave walls.
OoC : I fromed the seals and hid the kunai while you and your bird were still at the other side of the cave, there is no way you could have seen me do that.

OoC: Actually, I said that Tori was up there, spying... the stalagmites wouldn't stop Tori (who's at the roof of the cave) from seeing you do all that stuff... but leave it
*The depth of the cave was of immeasurable calignosity, but Karasume was of immeasurable deception, for tenebrosity was of no consequence to those red, deceptive eyes, hidden behind the shading glasses of Aoba. Tori also had very proficient eye sight. Suddenly, the genin saw flickering crepuscules emitted from between four stalagmites. His opponent was there... somewhere. First, he scanned the cave and saw some peculiar sights. His opponent was slinking up the right side of the cavern walls! Looking around again, the genin could see another slink up the left side of the walls, coming towards his direction. One of them were clones, or both were clones, that much was plain. The genin put a hand upon his katana. The first step was to locate his opponent, which wouldn't be so hard. His opponent couldn't see him, although he would be able to see his opponent! Tori could search the area for his opponent, as well as check out the clones. The genin nodded to the crow, who understood him plainly, and flew off as silently as possible, making sure to stay out of the candle's light.*
*The crow moved towards the left side of the cave in which he saws a bunshin. The bunshin was unaware of the crow, as the crow examined the bunshin before flying to the other side of the cavern.*
Aoba: (I see. This opponent of mine refuses to come at me directly, resorting to bunshins. I better stay out of the light, or else it will give away my position. Tori can do the exploring.)
*The black feathered bird moved stealthily along the roof of the cave, peering downwards. He saw a candle on top of a gourd. He smiled and peered from his position around the four stalagmites. His opponent had to be somewhere near here. Meanwhile, the genin waited silently, observing all. Aoba's skill was in stealth, and much was required here. With Tori observing the entire cave, it would be easy to spot his opponent in case his opponent made a move. Now all that was left to do was wait... unless...*
*The genin silently created a single bunshin, and ordered it to move forward, into the center of the four stalagmites.*
The below is a bunshin:
*It was then when the genin grew restless... he needed to make a move. The shinobi moved stealthily into the center of the four stalagmites... seeing what was there. The genin cast no shadow upon the cavern floor. Above, Tori smiled, beak widening into a grin.*
OoC: Pretty simple. I basically stayed put while Tori investigated the bunshins and explored the four stalagmites. Then, Aoba moves in.

*The two Kaishi's had now made their way to the other end of the cave, both nearing on the entrance from the right and left sides. The darkenss of the cave concealed their movements as they progressed closer and closer to the wall.*
*Meanwhile, Kaishi was behind the stalagmite he originally was, watching silently at the now diming light of the candle. Suddenly, just as the candle began to dim out, Kaishi saw a flicker and a faint shadow, that was not there before, appear in-between the four stalagmites, right next to his Gourd !!! Darkness instantaneously filled the cave as the candle went out. Without hesitation, Kaishi released the henge and formed a seal in mere split-seconds.*
SFX : BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
*The explosive tag Kaishi had placed inside the Gourd went off, along with the four other tags that were placed on the four stalagmites his opponent was now standing between. A massive fireball of smoke and rubble covered the entire area Kaishi's opponent was standing in, illuminating him, as though the sun's rays had pierced the surrounding walls and filled the cave with light, but Kaishi did not take this time to relax. As soon as the tags went off, Kaishi plunged forward, his two wakisashis in hand, straight at his opponent, who was now standing amidst the fire, visible as bright as day. Jumping through the debree and smoke, Kaishi sliced his two Wakisashis straight at his opponent at 180 degree angles, one at neck level and the other at waist level. The explosions must have done intensive damage to his opponent, and he wouldn't have any time to react to Kaishi's surprise attack.*
OoC : I exploded the tags in the Gourd and on the four stalagmites. Since you were in the middle of them, you are probably already severely injured from the blasts, and if not then I am about to slice you in half. ALSO, your night vision was impaired by the intense light and you are now blinded for about 5 to 10 seconds and cannot see.

OoC: Read the last spoiler (only the last spoiler!) I probably misunderstood your post, but wouldn't you be affected? Yeah, I think I misunderstood... meh. Leave it. Also, I hinted it was a bunshin... he cast no shadow.
Aoba dragged the Fuuma Shuriken with him to get it closer to the battle and planted it on the ground before dealing with Kaishi
*The massive explosion shook the cave to its roots. At least five explosive tags had gone off, shaking the cave intensely. The genin's form flickered in the light, as a desert mirage would, fading into the distance. Aoba walked calmly forward, waiting for the light to fade away... explosion clearing. Aoba just hoped that the crow was alright. The bird was some way away from the explosion, but the explosion was so massive, that Tori might have trouble getting out. The genin was utterly worried, that his mind was clouded with distraction, until he realized his opponent was jumping at him! There were two medium-sized blades in his opponent's hands, as his opponent jumped at the bunshin, but it faded away with the explosion. Suddenly, something landed on Aoba's shoulder. Tori! They made silent acknowledgment with one another and Aoba smiled... There was no more visibility now that the explosion had died away, so the genin stealthily moved to the back of his opponent, using stealth, his primary strength, to stay silent while slipping a soldiers pill into the beak of Tori. Then, Tori attacked the blinded genin from in front while Aoba released all stealth and aimed a Karasu Rendan at his opponent from the back side. The genin placed his hands on Kaishi's back, for he was distracted with Tori, and aimed to throw Kaishi into the air and tried firing "Crow Fists" at intense speed downwards, thus finishing "Karasu Rendan". Tori, who had the increased strength and chakra attacked ferociously at Kaishi's face to distract him from the stealthy genin. Finally, after the rendan was complete (if his opponent had dodged it or not), the genin formed three quick seals, replacing with the Fuuma Shuriken behind him, and ran the other direction. Upon the Fuuma Shuriken was a tag, and an explosive one at that.*
SFX: BOOM!
OoC: Tis was a good match, DC... I learned a lot. Aoba never got to know Kaishi's name! Well... I'm submitting it. And of the entire editing problem... sorry bout that. I can swear to you guys that I just tried to make my post look better for the judges, but it turns out to be something that will be held against me. For you guys that read it before and after the edit, you'll know that I didn't change the technical detail, but rules are rules... :p. Anyway... good luck man. Awesome fight, on my part.
In a UNANIMOUS decision the winner is:
Dream Catcher
Congratulations DC.
Our decision was based around strategy this time. Both of you are equally good writers and I greatly respect both of your styles. DC seemed to have the upperhand in the planning here. It was not due to his early arrival, but the fact that oipotty didn't really seem to do anything at all. On another note oipotty: Karasume and your crow/raven CANNOT see in the dark. The bird indeed does have good farsight, but not night vision of any kind. I'd assume that they'd have the equivalent of a dog's night vision. Anywho....gratz to DC. Good job guys. Again DC, long posts = MORE time/god modding. Don't do that if you plan to advance anymore.

He was here. This cave was the site of his third league battle... the first in which he won and the second in which he lost. This next one would be one to remember. Takahashi had gotten all of the questions in the Chuunin Exams that he had just walked out from, but had failed when trying to help that damn catgirl... Mitsukai. Many emotions swarmed through his body. This battle would help him let it all out. Takahashi took a deep breath and closed his eyes before walking into the never-ending cave. Nothing could be seen... As he muddled through the slush, the boy came to a stop at a large stalagmite that rose up from the ground. He took his place behind it and the eyed the entrance. It seemed like he was the first to arrive... With his new sword in hand, Takahashi knelt down and narrowed his eyes.
7 Smoke Bomb
13 Explosive Tags
20 Shuriken
20 Hari
10 Kunai
1 Dai Shuriken
4 Feet of Tape
4 Feet of Wire
5 Chakra Pills
5 blood pill
15 Fukibari
20 Hari
2 Adrenaline Pills
25 ft of Wire
1 Tinderbox
1 Canteen
2 pouches
1 plastic gourd
1 Straw Hat
1 Backpack
1 Coupon for $250 off on Water Jutsu
1 Blank D-Rank Jutsu Scroll
He had to make preparations of some sort. Takahashi took some wire and looped one end to his index finger and the other to the end of a kunai. Then, he infected all of his weapons with Forced Anemic Blood, including that kunai. Adding an explosive tag to the kunai, Takahashi slipped it in his pouch again, unlooping the wire from his finger. Then, he eyed the entrance... ready...

Sozoku was in the cave, waiting. Whether or not his opponent had suspected him of being here, he didn't know. He was backed up against the cave wall, a simple wire trap. It was so simple that it was bound to fail. But, if it did, he'd have an opening. Sozoku had it rigged, so when stepped across, there would be another wire, closer to the ground than the first. If that one was triggered by Takahashi, 40 hari, 5 exploding tags, and a smoke bomb would go off. Of course, if it were missed...
Hari X 80
Wire X 80ft.
5lb Weights
Exploding Note X 10
Smoke Bombs X 5
Iron Rings X 8 Pair (16 Single)
Sozoku drew a smoke bomb, and tied it to his katana with some wire. Suddenly, he felt a tug on one of the wire traps he left at the front entrance. He's made five, and positioned them so he knew exactly which way his enemy was coming from. They were tied to his fingers, so he would feel any disturbance. He detached them from his hand with his blade, and stood up, still pressed against the wall.
It would all begin very soon.

OoC: You don't have Basic in traps so IDK how you can set up a trap like that... but lets play on. And Sozoku has informed me that he against the East Wall.
Takahashi, after waiting for quite some time, began to get bored of sitting around. Why was his opponent so late? What if he was already in the cave. The boy had better look around. If his opponent was in the cave already, that would mean he would have tons of time to have gotten prepared. Takahashi had better be on guard. First, he would check the East Wall, the one nearest to him. He had been hiding behind one of the stalagmites so all he had to do is move east. Then, Takahashi perched up in on one of the stalagmites that was overlooking the East Wall and drank a little sip of blood. Suddenly, the world went black... but... he could see in a different way. More accurately, he could... feel. He would wait here for several seconds to observe this wall. All of his movement senses and hearing went in concentrating whether or not his opponent was nearby.
OoC: There's no way Takahashi can know if you are on the East Wall or not so I can't make my move here.

OoC: You can get Traps from SP?
Sozoku heard some footsteps approach from his left. He cocked his head upwards, smiling.
The traps themselves were each a distraction. They don't work, but are set up to. Sozoku can use each of the exploding notes and wires as he pleases. Hari are his most inexperienced subject, yet he makes full use of the 80 he has.
He couldn't hear anything now. It was all quiet, like a great beast had inhaled, then held it. With the exhale, the tension would break, and the fight would begin. One last preparation... Sozoku cut into his smoke bomb with his sword, and poured the gunpowder from inside onto his sword. He rubbed it around, and sheathed his sword. He'd rely on taijutsu for a while...
He felt a sudden change in the atmosphere, as if the great beast had decided not to exhale, but to inhale once more... Sozoku tensed, every muscle in his body bunched.
Great beast, please exhale...

OoC: Alright then... If you won't make the move, then I'll make it... I'm just going to have to hear you breathing deeply.
Takahashi heard some noise coming from very close by. In fact, it was almost right below him. As the genin perched on the Stalagmite, Takahashi tried to pinpoint exactly where the noise was coming from. There was barely any movement and it was hard to hear. It had to be in a general direction... so... The boy didn't feel like using much chakra and instead threw a simple shuriken with an explosive tag on it towards the general direction of where the genin was. It didn't sizzle but....
Takahashi wouldn't explode the shuriken just yet. It would make a clunk on the ground and the boy would hear. Then, Takahashi could see how he reacted. If he jumped away quickly, the boy wouldn't explode it. IF he stood in place, then it would explode.
With a 'clunk', the shuriken hit the floor near the genin.
Sozoku
07-12-2008, 12:55 PM
Sozoku heard it hit next to him. Something clicked in the back of his mind, but he registered it as the tension getting to him. He narrowed his eyes into the sweet, black pitch of the darkness around him. He shouldn't run from just a shuriken, even though Takahashi might know where he is... But then again, there was the off chance that Takahashi was trying to gain a reaction, pining off of the 1 out of 4 chance (about) that he was in this squadron of the cave. A reaction would draw him out, thus leaving him open to attack. But then again, Sozoku still had some manipulations left. He jerked his thumb, and the wire tied to it.
The wires on Sozoku's hand, the left one, which I mentioned him cutting earlier, were for the entrance of the cave. Takahashi can still "activate" them by accident, though. Sozoku tied two wires to his right hand, his thumb, and his middle finger. The other has yet to be used...
From far back into the cave, a smoke bomb launched into the air. It had been tied to the wire in such a way, that if the wire was under tension from Sozoku pulling, it would launch a smoke bomb. The bomb fell twenty feet away from Sozoku, or so he guessed, considering he couldn't see well. It was the one Sozoku gutted for his sword, and thus could not go off. It was merely for the purpose to draw his opponent away from his area, and to think that he was, in fact, over in the area, the wire had been rigged from.
Sozoku tied the dud to a wire, and whipped it, so that it rolled, along the side of the cave intil he felt it far enough to yank on it to stop it. He let it rest, then tied the wire to his thumb... One more idea, he thought, tying another wire to his middle finger, and...............................................
All Sozoku had to do now was wait for his opponent to move, then he could launch his attack...
OoC: Sorry it took so long, I went to a parade...

Takahashi heard or saw no reaction to the shuriken and therefore put his hands together in a seal, the explosive tag on the projectile detonated, making a quick flash of light as the genin flipped off the stalagmite for cover. When the explosion had finished, he blindly waited behind the stalagmite for further signs of movement. When he heard it, it would be time to strike.
Takahashi used Ketsueki Bunshin no Jutsu and placed an explosive tag upon it. He would use all of the ten percent chakra to use Cutting Whirlwind Technique then detonating the explosive tag when he located the opponent. When the bats struck, the clone also took cover against the stalagmite.
Suddenly, a swarm of black flying creatures flew down towards him. The boy ducked and took cover against the stalagmite, careful to not let those bats get to him. He just stayed silent...

Sozoku saw, or rather, had his eyes open, but could not see, yet his ears followed the sound of screeching and whooshing wind which suddenly seemed separated from him. They must have gone out of the entrance...
Sozoku stood up very slowly, as if not to make a sound. He drew his sword silently, taking time to make sure that the blade didn't scrape noisily against the scabbard. When it was fully out, he extended it in a Kata. He took off his sandals, and laid them against the wall. He straightened, still keeping pose, and crept out into the open. He smelled fecal matter, and felt the slush become indented under the weight of his feet combined with the body above. He closed his eyes. They were of no use to him now. He let his ears become his only source of presence, and let instinct rip through him. He could be alive here... the adrenaline pushing through him told him so. All to do was to wait for attack.

Takahashi didn't know how hurt the opponent was from the explosive tag when the bat swarms had dispersed. However, the opponent had made a movement out into the open. Sure, he was traveling very slowly, but it was still movement... and Takahashi could sense movement. Suddenly, the boy jumped at the shape, fists raging while in the cave, a soft wisp of wind could be heard after the punch... then a type of sizzling...
The Takahashi was the clone. After the punch, the clone would jump backwards out of the way to let a wind sickle {OoC: Special Wind-Affiliated Katana, Approved by Vis} hit the opponent; Takahashi had drawn his sword which was infected with the forced anemic blood and used it to shoot the sickle. Then, the clone would detonate the explosive tag that was on his own body.

Sozoku felt a puch hit him in his nose, and felt warm blood gush down his face. He ignored it, and put up his sword. He bounced back, further and further, until he could no longer hear anything. He opened his eyes. The blackness seemed ever blacker here... He took one of his hari and struck it against his katana. The spark from the strike lit the gunpowder, which went off with a bang, and a few sparks rained down. In the few moments where the small explosion had lit up his surroundings, Sozoku observed them. He was in a small oval outlet separated from the cave. Some small stalagmites littered the floor around him...
Suddenly, something hit Sozoku's shoulders. He flinched but didn't yell out, of fear of being tracked. Sozoku slowly felt his shoulder, and found a furry lump where his clothing should have been. He stroked it inquisitively, and heard a small screech. It was a bat. He tried to get it off, but it stuck to his shoulder.
Perhaps he could make use of it. "Bunshin no Jutsu!" He whispered, holding his palm out, and with a small bang of smoke, a small bat lay curled in it. Sozoku felt it shuffled it wings a bit, then squawked questioningly at Sozoku. Though Sozoku couldn't see it, he felt for its leg, stretched it out, and wrapped an exploding tag on the bat clone's leg. He then threw it into the air where he heard it hover, its small wings beating. He told it quietly, "Find the other human here, then screech. I'll detonate the tag." He heard the bat squawk in compliance, then heard the batting of its wings as it flew off.
The other bat chirped, and Sozoku petted it. Come on, try me, Sozoku thought.

Takahashi moved forward after delivering the punch and formed a seal as the boy in front of him was whispering something to someone...
Boom
An explosion went off at point blank from his opponent as the boy detonated himself.
It was the bunshin, like before. Takahashi sheathed his sword and readied himself to use the remaining chakra for Wind Release: Great Breakthrough.
The squawking bat had found the boy right before he blew himself up.
Sozoku
07-13-2008, 08:29 PM
Sozoku tensed at the explosion, and saw the remnants of the clone bat fall before 'poofing' away. The bat on his shoulder squawked. Sozoku looked at it, annoyed. Why wouldn't it come off?
But thanks to the Takahashi clone, Sozoku had seen the real Takahashi in the brief light, and now could let the true fight begin. He surveyed his injuries. A couple of cuts, none that truly bled, and a bleeding, possibly broken, nose. He reached up to his face, and remembering some 101 Tenten had taught him, took hold of his nose, and moved it back to normal with a crack. He wiped some blood off of his face. Instead of moving forward, he moved a bit backward. He didn't know much jutsu, but he could pull anything off at this point. He'd gotten his opponent right where he wanted him.
Sozoku knew that there was a Takahashi clone, since he sensed a difference in the chakra level of the one who'd come into the cave, and the one right in front of him. The bat wasn't to hurt Takahashi, but rather to reveal him from the explosion.
Sozoku jumped backwards into the complete back of the cave. His opponent couldn't possibly hear or see anything from here, it was too far away. Sozoku grabbed one of his two last smoke bombs from his pouch, and wrapped in in an exploding tag, and put it in his clenched teeth. Sozoku hid behind a giant stalagmite, and performed the seals for henge. He transformed into a bat, the young bat who followed him popping off with a reluctant chirp. He fluttered unsteadily, then gained a kind of balance in the air. The other bat fluttered next to him, chirping. It still was following him... He turned his attention back to the battle. He'd become a bat and "fly out of the cave." He'd stop at the entrance, but he'd drop the smoke bomb wrapped in explosive tags onto Takahashi then detonate them on the way there. He took off, the other bat trailing not too far behind him. On the way, a few other bats joined his small flock and they zoomed across the cave. Sozoku, now in bat form, clicked his tongue behind the bomb and his teeth on the roof of his mouth. He saw the sound wave zoom off in his mind, then bounce back with a clear picture of the cavern ahead. He saw the other boy, Takahashi, perched on a rock. He could feel the chakra radiating off of him. It was no clone. As they flew overhead, he let go of the bomb and it fell upon the boy, detonating on contact.

OoC: IDK how you knew that was a clone... it was in spoilers. I'm done with the fight....
Takahashi didn't know what hit him, but whatever did, hit him hard and blew up, sending Takahashi flying directly into a stalagmite, bleeding heavily on his head with scratches all over his body. The boy didn't waste energy to get up and instead waited for the call. Who had won?

Sozoku saw the explosion as he reverted back to his original form. The bat landed on his shoulder with an 'oof'. Sozoku looked at it. It would not leave him alone...

The fight seemed over, so Sozoku sighed and leaned against the cave wall. Who had won?

Fight is over.
Winner is Oip.
Sozo you did alot wrong in the fight due to being inexperienced.
Sozo: You can not prep that much of a trap prior to the start of a fight. And you would need atleast a level 1 trap to even remotely set that up
Sozo: You shouldnt konw it's a shuriken. All you know it's something metal. And do NOT make edits after you post.
Sozo: Bunshins are not real, thus you can not attack anything to them. Plus to create a bat bunshin it has to be ~50% of body area of the object. In short, you should had to turn into a huge bat then bunshin.
Sozo: You can not sense chakra levels.
As for damage, Oip actually made this mistake. You sent a two layer attack at Sozo which you ignored in your next post (where in rational it should of revealed a wind gust cutting open his fast and the detonation doing frontal damage.
Oip: I'm awarding you 2 xp, Sozo 1. And you can not keep the bat

*Yakujo had to fight, he didn't want to die for his stupid village and failed the first exam. That didn't really bother him, but now he had to fight. Before coming to the area, he made some preparation. He didn't have much techniques under his belt and he knew his opponent had a lot of experience, much more than him.*
[Preparations before getting near the cave have been pmed]
Yakujo took one of his parchment and used his technique. A little rodent came out and scouted ahead. That way, Yakujo could see if someone was there alread, and it was the case. In the cave, in a little enlighted part, a boy was waiting there impatiently. Yaku would give him something for his impatience
*Yakujo took another scroll and unrolled it. He performed chojuu giga and two little attack dogs came out and started runing ahead of the boy. Yakujo also started running and took two kunais out of his pouch. When he was in reach the two dogs each took a different direction in order to get to each side of the target. in a place where it was dark enough to hide (considering they are black helps them hiding.*
*Yakujo aimed above his opponent and threw the kunais on the cieling of the cave, about 3 meters from eachother, having the target in the middle. The boy released the tags attached on the kunais, causing the rocky cieling to crumble and fall. If the boy didn't move, he would get crushed by rock, if he moved, the dogs would fall on him like enraged dogs (well that's what they are)*

OoC: Alright, IDK if IFTS is dropped, but its been 24 hours so I'm skipping his turn.
Takahashi grinned as he saw the two attack dogs rush in, and the dogs took cover in the darker area of the cave. He was being flanked... the dogs could attack him but from the sides, but would have to come into the light first. However, since the dogs didn't attack him, the boy began to make preparations for his move as the boy entered the cave and sent two explosive tagged kunai into the ceiling. The stalactites on the ceiling crumbed as rock began to fall upon him. However, as the opponent's hands were together in order to release the tags, Takahashi swung his katana from right waist to left shoulder accelerating the wind around him while running forward and aiming a punch at his opponent.
Cutting Whirlwind Technique
As he charged, the wind flew forward as an initial threat while he tried to follow up with the punch. However, the punch would most likely not land, as he would be hit by several pieces of rock in the process. He just had to get close enough....
His fists curled and sweat flew off his head... This was the battle he had been long waiting for.

*Yakujo's pets were hidden in the cave, including his little rodent from the start. With him, he could se everything from near and predict a counter to an incoming attack. When his hands were togheter and he was releasing his tags, his opponent started to swung his blade and stepped foot forward. As soon as the click of the tags detonated, Yakujo jumped on his right in order to get out of the line of sight of his opponent.*
*While jumping to his right, the boy took 3 shurikens in his hands and threw them at the entrance. He tried to calculate roughly when his opponent would step right out of the cave, which was not very long from where he jumped so he had to hurry. He aimed one right and the entrance, another 1 foot from there, and the last one half a foot from the second.*
*In this way, he would have more chances to have one of the shurikens hit his target. With enough luck, he would deal good damage, if not, he was thinking about using one of his hidden tricks.*

OoC: I'm using these fight rules: Users are allowed to post at the point of their actions being changed (example if person A jumps at B and at the highest point B moves, A now can start at the point where person B moved but they are still in the air). Oh, and you forgot the bats... <.<
***
As soon as the opponent moved away, Takahashi merely altered the direction of his blade and the jutsu swirled towards the left side of the opponent. In addition, as the shuriken whizzed towards the entrance where his adversary had once stood, Takahashi just jumped, under the collapsing ceiling, towards the opponent instead of towards the entrance. As soon as he got within a few meters of the opponent, a fierce sizzling could be heard before a climatic explosion.
Suddenly, bats flew into action across the cave, making severe amounts of noise, but they didn't dare go into the light where the opponents were fighting.
OoC: You have a wind jutsu and Takahashi coming at you, and an explosion that is close enough to damage both Takahashi and you.

OoC: I'm also using that rule.
*Right after throwing his shurikens to where he thought his opponent would get out, Yakujo grabbed something in his pouch and got ready to throw it, he was waiting for the best opportunity to use it, he hope it was now. His heart was beating like a violent bolero of drums. He was sweating all the liquids of his body except blood, but it was soon to be expected.*
*His opponent got out and saw the shurikens coming, he jumped high and towards Yakujo, now was the right time to act. Just when Takahashi lifted off the ground, Yakujo kept one kunai in his and and started spining the other. Both kunais were tied to the tips of a wire. He spun only 2 complete revolution and threw his invention at his opponent, calculating roughly the trajectory his target would follow.*
*If his attempt was succesful, the wire would wrap around Takahashi and tie him tight, maybe a kunais would even log into his skin or at least cut him.*
Yeah, like I'm gonna put that there... hahaha

OoC: you ignored the wind jutsu... <.<
Violent winds swept towards the left side of Takahashi's opponent, cutting at his left shoulder. All he did was take out a new invention and hurl it at Takahashi, as the boy was in mid-jump. Like he expected, the boy was mauled before he could even come in contact with the opponent, as this contraption tied him up. However, he did get within a few meters of the opponent. After the wind jutsu that the opponent had failed to dodge, an explosion rang through the entire cave as a tag was released point blank from his opponent, engulfing Takahashi in the explosion. It would be diffucult to dodge this explosion at point blank, especially with the wind already cutting up his opponent's left side.
As the explosion cleared, a large pool of blood could be seen right where Takahashi had once stood, tied up in the wires, but no body....

*Something he could'nt see passed right through Yakujo's shoulder and ripped it, causing a pain the boy had never experienced yet. The airborn kid was almost in reach and it could become dangerous, even if he was tied. That's when Yakujo released the tags that were attached to the kunais on his invention.*
[BOOM]
*The boy in front of Yakujo exploded in a big slush of blood splashing everywhere. Just right when it blew, Yakujo jumped backward so the explosion wouldn't get him too. The pain from his shoulder made the boy angry, very angry.*
Yakujo: I hate clones! I friggin hate clones!! COME AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN!!!
*The boy took out all the explosive tags (but one) he had in his pocket and tied em to everything he could (Shurikens, kunais, rocks, whatever). He went next to the entrance to the cave and threw everything he had. Without waiting for anything to happen, Yakujo released the tags, hoping to blow the whole place. If his opponent was still in there, he would get crushed, or trapped in there untill someone finds about his absence.*

Also, depending on how the tags you set in the cave were disposed, they might've also blew, but it's untold.
Good fight, altough it was very confusing :p

Fight is over.
Judging ended up being quite simple suprisingly.
Oip is the victor.
The fight tested your ability to adapt to your opponent's post. The rules stated that if they interrupted your post its up to you where to start. Bart's posts contridicted themselves with oip's with timing ultimately leading to a cutting whirlwind leading in a direct hit.
The last post was a last ditch effort and eventhough the fight should of gone on it was called
Oip you advance to the second round of the 2nd Chance
