Face Markings

WHAT ARE THEY!?!?!?
They could be tatoos, but face tatoos would hurt ALOT!!!

they could be painted on, but that would be time consuming...

They are actually mutants and were born with those marks on their faces (oh yeah, thats gotta be it, mutants)


This has been bothering me and probably alot of other people...

For people like Kankurou I say it's Face paint. I think it could be face paint for Kiba as well but I have never seen him without it so I don't really know for him.

Im pretty sure its not face paint because they never have to repaint the face markings.
I really dont think people are just born with perfect face markings even if they are mutants.
Besides tatoos i dont know what they could be.
maybe all people with that type of marking come from a certain clan.

Yes it is face paint. Probably permanent. or they could be repainting it every month or probably scarring and painting. As for Kankuro's face marking anybody can do that thing to anybody's face with a sharpie.

I'm guessing very not-washable face paint. Or washable face paint that they repaint in 3.4 seconds every morning. They all have a little mirror and a tube of red paint in their pocket, and they doll themselves up whenever they have to.

I mean, if WE do it every morning, so can they >)

I definately don't think it's paint. Paint would be impractical, and like Neji said "why would they paint their faces over and over?"

Think about it.. what kind of paint can you sweat in, bleed over, and get scratched up, and have it stay on? I don't know about you, but I've never seen paint that was that durable on human flesh. So for me, Paint is definately ruled out as an option.

And I doubt they're born with those markings.. but to be honest I'd have no idea. Cause even as young children, many of them have the markings.. but if they were tattoos, they simply could have gotten them upon the day of their birth.

I wonder if they'll ever tell us...
but for now I'm going with the tattoo theory.

i think they can make this kind of stuff. this markings are part of their bodies. they are normal skin but has different color.

thats what i think to, its just something they born with. and only runs in their clan.

I'm pretty sure in the case of Neji (which may or may not be a unique situation) it's something that surfaces based on family position, meaning that I think it's something that they are born with the potential to have, and upon the realization of their born powers it finally comes out.
Maybe it has to do with the acquisition of certain abilities.
I don't know for certain.

Well, there isn't really any question for Neji, the thing on his forehead is a seal. As for other people, I'd say a tattoo that they recieved at a relatively young age that corresponds with their clan.

I doubt it... Usually the Naruto series carefully explains every seal, because there's always a long story and reasoning behind each one. Kiba hasn't done anything wrong, or isn't dangerous enough to need to 'seal' anything away. And it wouldn't make sense for his entire family to have seals put on them (unless it was like the Hyuuga branch family; which is an entirely different story in itself).

Because I doubt all the markings are seals, I doubt Jiraya's is a seal as well.

they are not exactly a seal. but they are part of their body. they scratch them and they are still intact. i believe they are some kind of seal thing. they dont do anything but look cool.

a tattoo doenst grow, and is never so bright.

remember that flashback jiraiya had when he was a litle kid he had those small red lines on his face, but now they are bigger and stll as bright as before. a tattoo fades bit by bit, but never completely, but it doesnt stay that bright.

i think in nejis face, hes from the hyuga and has this seal, but the others marks like kibas and jirayas are just symbols for their clan..

in afrika and brasilien and such places the kids gets a tatoo that shows they are grown up, and to take this tatoo its a way to show that they are a man, just like sasuke needed to prove by learning the Katon.
