Grand Ultimate Anouncement

Dearest of SOS Members

Recently, we have heard several people are unhappy with the way things are going in the SOS. Therefor, we (the council members who were available at this time) have discussed many things of the SOS that needed sorting out. It has been a long and grueling session of about 2 hours of talking about SOS and masturbation.. but it is over now... and I am going to share with you all now, what has been done:

1.)
The most noticeable change and one that causes me to wince when i think of the reaction it will bring. The stats system is gone. Yes, it has been killed. The reason for this is simple.
We have thought about it and though the idea had merit, it was doomed to a certain situation. This situation runs as follows:

Lets create Joe. He's the metaphorical RP'r who posts 6 posts daily and gets loads of points. And lets use .... Bob as the metaphotirical good RP'r, but who goes to work/university so he does not have enough time to post training daily.
Now, one day Bob and Joe fight PvP. Bob is CLEARLY better at RP'ing. He RP's like a god and Joe RP's like shit, but he has points behind him to technically make him stronger. Now... who do you claim the winner? If you claim Joe the winner, its injustice. But.. if you make bob the winner, its illogical, due to the points. And then the point arises.. if bob won, whats the point in the points?

This has been heard many a times form our fellow SOS'rs.. and it has been taken into account... So the stats system is gone.

However, this does NOT mean that all your training has been in vain, all is still worth something, it has not been null and voided, it has just been purged of stats. You still are stronger, you just don't have the numbers that speak for it.


2.)
Major revisions have been done to the rules. I HIGHLY recommend you read through all of the rules again to make sure you fully understand everything there.

3.)
Rules for traveling have been created as well.

4.)
Many ideas around the mission points system have been discussed.


I hope you all are happy with these changes as they are meant to make the SOS fun again. I for one have not been having fun recently, but now i am very excited with these changes.

Greetings everyone,


The purpose of this announcement is to talk about the future of SOS. There's an old saying that goes "fish rots from the head" and in order to correct the SOS the council must first correct themselves.

At the moment, the council is not operating and 100% capacity and many members are weary from having to stand in the trenches and fill in the gaps. And after much discussion by the council it was decided that a council member is going to be replaced.

Vis was indeed a great council member here in SOS, but due to excessive inactivity much of the operational functions of SOS have suffered. We know that the reasons for his inactivity are well beyond his control but at the same time we have to consider that the RP is also suffering.

At this time, the council has a rough idea for who should replace Vis but we would still like to know your opinions. We would like to know who (if anyone) you would nominate for a potential spot on the council and why. Any attempt to make light of this or joke around in anyway won't be tolerated so be serious with what you say. PM myself or Azure.

Well. Recently, the SOS has been looking for a new council member. We asked for you, the public to nominate someone. The current working members of the council also talked about who would make an ideal council member. We had our candidate in mind.

I was very glad to see that most of the SOS had the same member in mind.

Yup. Your new council member is none other than... Sol.

Sol has shown immense dedication to the SOS. His work is always of the highest standard and everything he does is done 100% right. There is no cutting corners with Sol. When he makes up jutsus, they are well thought out and perfectly presented. When he judges fights, he makes sure both parties know EXACTLY why the winner won the fight. Howzit guys.

As some of you are aware, things have been rather slow here at the SOS. I think the main problem behind this is the heavy schedule some of us have at the moment. Some's schedules don't affect the SOS badly... but, with Sol gone for two weeks, Nick missing in action, bart and nova busy and myself knee deep in shit and shoulder deep in exams, i think this may be the reason for the lag here at the SOS.

However, i ask you guys to please be patient, as soon i will be free again to do what i can around here. Give me one week and then i will be on holiday, and then i will do my best to get everything running here at 100%.

So, sorry for the lag guys, but i'm sure you all can understand, especially those who know me pretty well and have spoken to me recently.

However, there has been a change of plans. Due to several complaints/suggestions from members and a lot of thought from the current council, we have decided that not all 5 council seats will be up for grabs in the election. Instead, only the two inactive council members (Nova and nick) will be replaced. Thus, you can only vote for 2 members.

Voting procedure:
PM your votes to BOTH myself and Sol. PM's that are only sent to one of us will be ignored!
Title of PM: Election Votes
Do NOT send us more than one PM and do NOT vote for more than 2 people, or your vote will be ignored.

I'm surprised that I was the one to notice this... but let that not downplay the event. Today one of the SoS'ers became one year older. Today (depending on your time-zone), 18 years ago Oipotty (you should really kill your parents for putting THAT on your birth certificate) was born. And as is the custom here in the SoS, when one of it's members does just what Oipotty has done, they shall receive +$200 to the character of their choosing.

Now if only you can give this to a character that you aren't going to kill off...

If you wish to have a referendum to debate: if abilities to a character in which are not natural or enabled by themselves should be allowed (things a normal shinobi, a bloodline or kekkai genkai can't do by themselves), PM Pap. These include but are not limited to, Religious abilities granted by a "god", passive alterocation (acts of god), spirit swords (similar to bleach's banki's where the weapon itself has a special power that can enhance a user), immortality, etc.

There will need to be atleast around ~9 of current members to have one started. There are 22 current members in sos (not counting the 2 in academy at this time which would make it 24). Pap has said he does not want to choose sides and is on more then enough to keep the votes up to count. If/when it hits 9 votes (please note the wish for a ref will only last until Feb 3rd at the latest). And the people have to be on the character xp sheet to have a say (or Nick)

Description: At a hot resort locations within the Bird country a dead shinobi was found at the hot spring river. Since that day the hot spring no longer is hot as it has an eerie chill to it with an unknown creature now resting in it. The local lord has requested the aid of any and all shinobi willing to help out with this. Due to his constant loss in funds, the reward is pending on how quickly the job gets done.

*Note*Event will start within ~2 weeks. A caravan will be leaving from each village and arrive at a meeting point after 1 day of leaving. Then 2 more days will be taken to reach the river. During that time the guide will answer any and all questions related to the mission with truth. Also you can communicate with all the shinobi who go along on the mission. There will be no PvP in this mission

First off.

Remz, you have shown blatant disrespect to most of the council on the SOS. You have insulted pretty much every council member and this is not acceptable. Is it that time again? Yep! Time to announce a new council member! Well ‘new’ would be the wrong word since he’s been a council member for a long time. That’s right! After a short resignation Viseres has decided to take a seat back at the council’s table.


He’s back with an all new motivation and vision for the future of the SOS. Ask him about it when you get a chance. It has to do with how villages develop and interact on a level we’ve never fathomed in SOS past.


So everyone please join me in welcoming back Viseres to the council.

Not many people realize this but Viseres brings with him much needed sanity to the SOS. There were countless times he’s been there for SOS and never even wanted as much as a thank you. He was always in it for the principle of making the game balanced and fair. There are countless questionable and outrageous bloodlines and other abilities he prevented from making into the SOS and I for one agree that they simple didn’t belong here.

Dear SOS,

Today is a day I have seen coming for quite a few weeks (maybe even a month or two), but before that, never dreamt of.

I am announcing my retirement, as a council member and as an active mod, in the Shadows of Shinobi section.

For nearly two years now, i have been on the SOS and for roughly a year and a bit, i have 'served' on the council. As of late, i have not fulfilled any of my duties as a council member and, to be honest, i have not felt the need to do so. Back in the day, i used to see the SOS as a family of sorts.... but currently, this family seems (to me) as just another episode of Jerry Springer... with me being the bouncer, having to beat up my own 'family members' with my police baton.

No more.

I am not gonna reiterate all my times here, most of you here are new and probably dont give a damn for this fader shell of an RP'r.... But, i wanna pass some things on to you all.

Currently, there are few truly active mods in the SOS. More so, there are only a handful of active council members.
Nick, DC, IFTS and Vis seem to be the only semi-active council members, and Nick seems to be the only active mod in this section.
Therefor... What these people say is law. What they say, goes. The council are the ones who make, uphold and maintain the rules and thus, the public WILL listen to it. You can debate and disagree, but do it in a propper, respectful way. If SOS is a business, the the council are the board of directors. You would not screw around with your boss, would you? We (or, you) can al be friends, but there is a heirarchy here and it must remain that way.

Thus. Listen to the council and the active mod(s) here. Other mods may have their say here (in case i do ever intend on coming back here) and you may call in other mos if you feel you are treated unfairly. But, the moderators and the council must and will work together on te system of justice in the SOS.

That is all. I will still prance around the rest of these forums, where the drama-levels are a bit lower... so to all my friends i've made here (the ones who dont just talk to me for SOS stuff at least), i will chat to you guys later.

Important Points :

1) We will also start having the "Star" system that was in place before the restart. Prizes for the stars will be posted a bit later, but note that exception/unique/interesting/outstanding work will be rewarded. So do your best !

2) The qualification for Chuunin Exams will consist of completion of 6 C rank missions.

3) The amount of jutsus learned allowed to Genin will now be 8 (Including the three academy jutsus and 1 B rank jutsu as you advance to High Genin after completing 5 C rank missions)
The jutsu limit for Chuunin will be 18 and for Jounin it will be 22

4) No MP for Unofficial Missions, and since there is no more XP system, MP will only be awarded for Official Missions (as they were intended to be)


Note : A skill tree system is being worked out and will be worked into the current system shortly (hopefully)

There will be a few categories which prizes and awards will be give out for.

The "Shikamaru" award : For demonstration of cunning skill and strategy in a PvP or Mission. Reward : An entangling weapon of your choice

The "Naruto" award : For demonstration of unpredictability (Dumb randomness is not a way to get this award :p) Reward : 5 special made kunai that splis open and releases metal shards when they hit the ground or anything solid, including the human body.

The "Lee" award : For demonstration of hard work and knowledge in one of the three "Jutsus" - Nin, Gen or Tai. Reward : A custom C rank jutsu or Rendan

The "Kakashi" award : For demonstration of outstanding leadership skills in a Mission. Reward : Wireless radios which work up to a distance of 3 miles apart and 500 SOS dollars

The "Pain" award : For demonstration of understanding, use, and control of one of the six elements : Fire, Water, Earth, Wind or Lightning (sixth Element will be added after it's revealed) Reward : A Custom elemental B rank jutsu of your choice

The "Orochimaru" award : For most interesting and intriguing antagonist in a storyline or mission. Reward : 1000 SOS dollars

The "TenTen" award : For demonstration of skill in the use of projectiles, swords, staffs etc. Reward : A custom weapon of your choice

Awards will be handed out to those deserving of them. "Performance Stars" will also be handed out to those showing any type of improvement, idea, or contribution you can think of !

The reward system for the Performance Stars is as follows :

4 Stars - 1000 SOS Dollars !

I’m regrettably back to inform SoS of a tragic incident. As many of you knew my brother Vis was heading home due to a death in the family. After the funeral was over he was driving back for work the following day when he was struck by a drunk driver. He currently resides in at Georgetown Hospital treating the injuries suffered. He asked me to post this and I would of sooner if I actually had the courage to do so. The length of his stay in the hospital is unknown at the moment due to the degree of his injuries which at the current time I will not go into details. All I will say is he is conscious and in at least somewhat good spirits. You will see his AIM and YIM log on every once in awhile because that will be me looking for a few of his co-workers to inform of the situation.

If you wish to know more information please send me a pm and I will try to check it every day or so.

It is now time for what is hopefully soon to be a monthly tradition. This is to reward quality work and loyalty to SoS along with anything else that is deemed good enough to win an award. Since I do not like to write out long posts I’m going directly to the part people want to read.

This month two awards are being handed out. The much sought after RPer of the month and this month’s top storyteller. While the month of June was a slow month for SoS it was good to see people back and willing to role-play. It brought back some old faces (welcome back Das) and a few new ones in who we wish stay with us.

First the award for top storyteller in the month of June:

Basically to me this training post was almost strictly about just the flow of the writing. The story was just gripping to where it didn’t let the reader to want to leave the thread. And without much more wait the winner of the Top Storyteller is DonEmu for his recollection of Murasame Tenro.

Now for the prize of winning this award, Don will be awarded 1 SP that directly ties to his story awarding him 1 SP in the field of Kenjutsu.

Now for the much harder to win award, the top RPer. Several people posted this month but one person stood above the rest. His constant posting while it did show great numbers also is showing great growth in his skill. Since by now many of you have already figured out who the winner is, Oipotty I congratulate you win RPer of the month.

To accompany you with your win, I am allowing you a choice of awards. Choice a) a custom C rank or lower or b) 1 free SP to choose where you wish to be assigned (no rank 3s), or c) a Custom weapon built that would not require training in time for the Chuunin Exam.

Basically we will be returning to a pre-restart way back system.

There will be some support for specialty characters

XP will stay but will only be like an honor badge of how much rping you have done and the quality of it.

There will be one village, but those already in one village can choose to rp leaving to go to konoha, or can get a character transfer with a new character that starts at about the same skill level.
